@@jamescurfman3284 2017 also had a amazing female opera singer, but she did sing most in her style. To me, most amazing as in "out of the box singing" was Tommie Christiaan in 2017, he did from opera to rap and in 5 languages or so, and not bad at all! The Dutch don't really have a lot of great male singers known well internationally.

Beste Zangers is a Dutch show that brings together dutch singers from different genres. Each singer is featured for a night, and each of the other performers chooses a song from the feature artist's
songlist or songs of other bands/performers that mean something to the feature artist. They put their own spin on the song along with the Marcel Fisser Band (they are AWESOME). The last show of the season is a "duets" show where each artist chooses one of the other performers to perform with.
You should listen to samantha sing to Floor 'Decades in the Sun' from the same episode. She may be a folk singer, but that girl has got rock pipes!

Emma has an extremely successful UA-cam Channel. She has over 3.3 million subscribers and her cover ballads fly off the “viewer shelf” with multimillion views each. My music is far from “poppy”, but I kinda like to be Heestered every once in a while.
They get a list of songs that are special for the singer. The other singers choose one and practice this, adjust it and perform it. It is not a contest but just coming together and perform for each other.
There was so much light and shade in this performance. Incredible song writing by Floor and incredible performance by Emma. She’s definitely an amazing vocalist.

Beste Zangers 2019 was so special. I loved getting to know all of the singers that were new to me (everyone but Floor) and watching them perform. Emma has a bright future ahead of her once this pandemic goes away. She's a talented singer and natural performer with a magnetism that has little to do with her beauty but definitely isn't hurt by it.

Beste Zangers is a show on the Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS. The moderator invites several well-known musicians and each of them selects pieces from their own repertoire, which are then interpreted by the others. In the end, the original artist evaluates the other's "covers".
In europe the format became popular, for example the German version called Sing meinen Song - (Sing my Song) is based on it.

Each artist also make a list of songs that had great meanings to the artist.

@@nicod1361 Not true . 2 monthebefore the show all chosen artists render a songlist where stated both own songs as well as songs that have a special meaning to them, then the other artists choose from that list. Off course there is some coordination I suppose from the host so that not two artists are chosing the same song.

The young lady Emma sang a wonderful tribute to Floor with this song. It was beautifully done. Nice reaction, thank you. Floor sang this song on her solo shows early in 2020 before they were canceled. You could find that video in a search.
Yeah, she ALMOST made it through the entire song before having a voice crack get through on one of those performances. Like, WOW, twenty years later and she still can't sing her own song! But she wrote it from an emotional place with all the love in the world. So of course it would be the most difficult song ever for her. :)
I don't think anyone here would draw comparisons between the two singers. Who sings better or something. The difference here is simply in the situation. The song is sung for Floor and in the presence of Floor and is therefore not a classic, simple cover for me with which one just wants to earn money. I think this is more of a tribute.
This year was the 13th season of de Beste Zangers and over the years there were so many surprises. The season with Floor was maybe the biggest surprise.
The concept of the show is you take singers of a different genre and let them sing the of the other singer with every week someone in the hotseat. This concept is sold to many other countries, for me is the Dutch version still the best.
I think that every Dutch singer will be proud to be a part of the show.

For me this song was the most emotional one from that season, close following by the song from Floor; About love i dont know a thing.

The show contains 6 singers from different genres. One singer is the 'guest' for who the other singers sing a song of that person that means a lot of that person. That can be a song written or performed by this artist, or have a deep meaning for that person.
The beauty of this program is that it is not a contest, although the 'guest' have to say which artist had the most impact.
I hope that this makes it a bit understanding.
Fun fact. The show is recorded on Ibiza. This is also for the majority of all the seasons. I think this is season 19 or 20. But I'm not sure about this

here comes the water works! Floor did a brief solo tour in the Netherlands in Fall of '19. she sang this song for her Mom. they were both in tears by the end.

Emma always has been a amazing young lady and when I heard she and floor would be among the guests that year, I knew Emma would grow in this show as one of the biggest surprises. First episode aside, she was amazing..
I thought she was amazing the first episode. It took so much guts to pull Sex machine off as your first performance, especially the way she did it.
@@Carrinthe listen carefully to that performance and look at the reactions of other singers, something wasn't right that they edited the audio so extreme.
@@JHX1 Yes, I'm aware that some have acused her of playbacking. I think, like you say, It could be that the post production maybe was a little too enthousiastic. Or maybe in this world of autotune people are not used anymore that there are actually singers that have amazing voices That she looks like she does, absolutely stunning, would further reinforce the idea with some that she's in the music buissiness because of her looks and not her talent and that there is no way she could really sound like that. For me she has proven without doubt that she actually performed at that high level considering the performances she did afterwards but I have to admid at first I was biased and sceptical. Looking back it's just an amazing gutsy performance.
@@Carrinthe I think it was just a bit overenthusiastic of her but what made it bad was the editing they chose to do, for whatever reason they had. It still is a fairly low budget public tv show (compared to other shows that is). I can also imagine it is quite heavy for some to do this, especially the first day.
Exit Eden is the band that covers pop songs in a symphonic metal style.
I have watched all of these shows from beginning to end. When people play songs from this show, they just play the songs. Not you two. You are smart and generous enough to frame the song with the set-up and the reaction. That's why I like you two so much. Well done, thank you.

and Floor clearly loved this version of the song as it is very different to After Forever's version. She sings this version on her solo tour which is a pretty big compliment to both Emma and the house band for their interpretation!
I cry every time I see Floor cry to this one, I just cannot help it. EVERY time I see a reaction video for this one, I wind up in tears. Emma is so awesome! She's definitely worth checking out even if she doesn't do anything harder than Pop music. It's all so beautifully done from her!
I have seen Floor preform this live. After this show she did a solo tour in the Netherlands. She almost made it. Just cracked by the last few words.

The show takes 7 singers from different styles of music. In each episode one of them is placed on the central couch and the other 6 will sing a song for him/her. There is a list of personal songs and events with a meaning where to choose from. Because most are related to something in their life it can go emotional. The fun part is that with different styles of music some singers need to step out of their comfort zone or change the song into their comfort zone. The 8th episode is the fun duet show. Each singer may choose a duet with one of the others.

Most of these are VERY non-metal (xD) ballads but each one is gorgeous and all singers are incredibly amazing.
I wouldve tipped you a long time ago to react to Emma Heesters version of Floor Jansens own song,but it just didnt work out that way. The show has a slightly or completely different name from country to country. But its basically a group of artists from across different genres that meet up,they each have theyr own show where other artists will perform theyr own songs or favourite songs that means alot to them. Its not a competiton in any shape or form,just a celebration of each artist and of music. I dont see the CC turned on for the opening of this,but there Emma would explain the whole story why she choosed Strong to perform,as her own mom did suffer from breast cancer but survived,and Emma of course related soo much to Floors own words about her mom being in pain,so it made for a really emotional moment. Emma surprised me the absolute most from this specific show. She has a mic control like no tomorrow,wich has had people reacting to her start questioning if she did singback/playback. Emma might be young,but she has over the years perfected how to handle and how close/far away she needs to stand to/from the mic,in order to have different sounds etc. 2:04 OH! Travis knew! (EDITED IN) This was also Emmas first ever appearance on a tv production like this,so she admitted that she was really "out of her comfort zone". Knowing that,and how she performed.......shes a friggin natural! Emma and Floor became my favourites by far (no disrespect to the others,as they brought way different,unique sounds from eachother to that stage) 10:30 Perfect example of what Emma said after the performance. "I tried looking at you(Floor),but i couldnt look for too long,because i was nervous about starting to cry myself!". So she closed her eyes alot in this,wich alot of people have embraced,even vocal coaches. They think she delievered even better by doing so.

This is another very good example why you should watch the versions with subtitles if you don't understand the Dutch language.
The background information is essential to understand why there are such emotional reactions.

Everyone is a great singer in their own genre. Every episode is for one of them. The others sing for him or her a song that means a lot. Beste Zangers in 2019 was a great series but to be honest none of the previous series is bad. Some are actually very good. There is not a competition element.

This show is copied all over the world, it starten in the Netherlands years ago. 2019 was marvelous. The last season was not so good.
