This show is so much better then any singing show we have here in the States the atmosphere of all these singers together is awesome ther is no competition just passion
I absolutely agree with that! There's no need for all the damned drama, it gets in the way of the music over here! This is so pure because there is no real competition. It's more like each of the artists sort of do critiques for each other, with the full intention of only bringing positivity to the table. I LOVE that setup! :)
Emma and Henk did a amazing "Vivo per lei"..
She was the biggest surprise of the show to me.
Yes, UA-camr (2 Million followers) but now more famous in the Netherlands and on TV much more.
Yeah. It's like, we all EXPECTED great things from Floor, since she set the bar so damned high when she opened the show with Vilja Lied (or before that for those of us who knew about her already). Everybody also knew about Henk Poort, of The Three Baritones. So Vivo Per Lei in particular became sort of a Break-Out performance for Emma (at least from my perspective). Right? Make sense to anybody else? :)

@@jamescurfman3284 yes indeed, she started off with a somewhat awkward performance in the first episode. Not sure what happened, but clearly something went wrong seeing the reactions of the rest and hearing the audio. But what a precious, dedicated singer and pure artist with a heart.
I've seen this a hundred times and still tear up when Floor does.
I regularly lookup this song just to get the good feeling when Floor reacts to it.
In my opinion, it's the best version of the song ever.

Dutch Emma Heesters gets major American record deal

She is one of the greatest Dutch artists on UA-cam: Emma Heesters. She has nearly 390,000 subscribers and her videos have already seen 33.8 million views.
Emma sings covers on UA-cam, which are songs by other artists. She often does this alone, but she also regularly sings with other artists known on UA-cam.
One of her most successful collaborations is with Jason Chen. That's an American singer who has 1.5 million subscribers. Their video, in which they sing Luis Fonsi's Despacito together, has been viewed more than ten million times on Facebook and UA-cam.
It's like a little princess singing to her mighty Queen. Emma did it surprisingly well. Great analysis. Thank you and take care!

It’s an amazing performance well worth reacting to.
Songs of heart go into the heart. This was such a human, humane, real-life song and such an excellent cover ... and it was sang so beautifully and with so much soul, no wonder it touched us all. It is the mastery of the song's words and melody and the reality it describes, as well as the heart put into the cover, that make it so, and Emma's fantastic skill and tone (great deconstruction of the song, Christi, thank you). I love everything about this performance, and I don't think anyone with a heart, anyone capable of love, can be unmoved by it. And ... especially in these times, may we stay strong. Together. Emma is most well known for her "Shallow" cover. Behind the scenes Floor has encouraged Emma to start writing her own material. New Floor acoustic duet with Troy of "Nemo" is quite a contrast to the NW metal version (Planet Rock Session)
This song shows that Floor is a brilliant songwriter. Her catalog needs exploration by others who can put their own powerful voices into it.
Emma is absolutely unintimidated. She's an angel and a beast, reminds me of Sharon den Adel who also would fit into this show very easily.

Emma was of the three most Dutch hadn't heard of (Floor and Rolf the other two) because she was a youtuber who did covers in English. Kudos to whoever at Avrotros thought to invite her onto the show (she did have 2 million subs before the show). I had seen her, and Samantha on UA-cam before. Samantha I saw in a couple of Voice audition compilations, and knew what her voice was like, but I hadn't listened to Emma. I just saw recommendations for her a few times. They were likely of songs I had no interest in, so how good she was was a pleasant surprise. iirc Emma has a recording deal, and has spent a lot of time in the US as well. One of her stories was being on the same flight as Rolf once as both returned to Holland from Miami.
She said her mom's fight with cancer made her really identify with the song. Floor came really close to losing it completely there.
On a side note, Floor is currently secluded at home in the guest house, as she is fighting a virus (She's not sure if it is Wuhan virus or the season's Flu. If you don't have all the symptoms of either only a test will tell) and is staying away from her Hubby and daughter "The Smurf" in hopes neither of them gets it. Get Well Soon, Floor!

Emma's beautiful and touching rendition of Floor's hommage to her mother who suffers from painful rheumatism and to date still does. Emma didn't need much motivation to cover this song since she also honored her own mom for surviving cancer. To topple all of that once more your beautiful reaction, Christi! It's like taling a warm bath: you don't want the reaction to stop like you don't want the bath water to get cold. And then of course you always know to treat us with those little to the detail analyses. All of that in your warm, emphatic and emotion way. You are a beautiful person!
I'm not usually a fan of Emma's style of singing, but even I can appreciate her talent. She really shines in 'Vivo Per Lei' with Henk Poort. I think you will love that duet.

She became a star as a result and well deserved.
You can see Emma grow throughout these shows with her performances. Really she was an amateur with 5 other pros she had never truly performed live for an audience and what an audience she had and she lapped it all up. Millions of fans on youtube and now thousands more through this show!
That's what is most impressive. She is up there with performers used to captivating huge arenas. But she sings like she never left her bedroom studio.

You don't need vocal gymnastics of the kind that Aguilera or Carey are famous for. The emotion's already in the lyrics. Emma holds back like Floor did with Shallow. I think she'll go far if she just keeps doing what she's doing.
Ruining good songs with emotionally pointless runs and riffs is a USA thing. Not one song too over written with that embellished nonsense in it ever makes the hit charts in Canada or UK. And I'm sure not Holland.
Mariah Carey has ruined every single song she ever wrote with those narcisstic pointless runs in every phrase. Beyonce, Celine or Ariana is far more disciplined about it. And as a result you can name far more of their works than Mariah's.
As others have said, if you want to see Henk squeeze every ounce of talent out of Emma check out Vivo Per Lei. It means 'I live for her', her being the music.

Emma is amazing. Btw her name is pronounced as Haysters. In general we pronounce the ‘e’ the way you pronounce an ‘a’. She really surprised me, I am impressed by her vocal talent. She sang Vivo Per Lei with Henk Poort, please react to that one if you haven’t already, it’s amazing.

Make sure to watch this one, to not only see Floor but really the premise and impact the show has 'Floor Jansen sings Winner for Tim Akkerman Beste Zangers 2019 Eng. Subs' . The be amazed as she sings in a language she doesn't know 'Qué Se Siente'.
The strongest (no puns intended) tribute that was created in this show. Now people that know me a little allready might say im biased,since this is Floors own song,and the fact that it brought Floor to tears. There might be some slight truth to this,but i did not know anything about Emma before this. I actually remember i saw her young,gorgeous "dollface" and thought she seemed abit "misplaced" at first. I guess i had my doubts,after hearing numberous "young blondes" sing. So i didnt expect too much,and i didnt watch the episodes fully even,i only watched Floors performances at first. So i hadnt even heard Emma from the first episodes,i had no clue on what to expect. But when i saw the title,that she had choosen STRONG,thats when i started thinking..... "WOW,this young lady got GUTS!". I knew how much this song still means to Floor till this very day,and even her family/her mother loves it alot. Floor has allways battled herself when performing this song. So i might have gotten into a tiny bit of a "pre-judging state" towards Emma. You start to think "if she messes this up on TV,in front of Floor........",that is gonna hang over her for the longest of time. But i swear,from Emmas first notes....i was hypnotized,she just pulled me right in,and i became weak within seconds. Only Floor until that point has been able to have that amount of power over me,and young Angelina Jordan. Noone else comes remotely close. So i was quick on my feet to announce that i will buy Emmas debut album as soon as it releases,after that performance! I know there has been some really strong covers done on this show,and if i were 100% biased i would say every strong cover belonged to Floor. But Emmas song of choice was outstanding,and how she then backs it up by performing it just as beautiful,if not better then Floor does it,thats beyond what words can describe! And Floor tearing up over someone else singing is a first in public,wich tells you the strength of the performance. I know some people have questioned Emmas "perfect sound" on this show,no matter how energetic on stage she was,or just focused and standing still,she sounded "flawless". The answer is quite simple,one of her strengths is to allways know how far or close she should be holding her microphone,at all times. Something she has trained to perfection by doing all thoose covers she does on UA-cam. As well as the obvious,she stays in shape,she got wonderful breath control,so i havent heard her sound "out of breath" yet on energetic live performances. Emma is just crazy talented! She sings just as amazing as she looks,and that speaks volume too. And what amazes me most is diving into her life stories,why she choosed Strong and such,and the fact that this show was her first ever big production to be a part of. And she really felt "out of her comfort zone" by joining the show,so knowing that and the fact that she allways looked like such a natural on stage,and sounded like she had been doing this for decades,just proves how much talent lays within this gorgeous young lady. You know you are good,when people question if you used playback or singback during a TV show!😍Floor also choosed one of Emmas favourite songs,when the tables were turned,so theese 2 found eachother quickly on the show. (Floor sang "Shallow" for Emma,and you can see how Emma is just glowing,nonstop smiling...and i think she even finishes with a "Woooooow",from the couch,wich was charming as anything)

Yes, Emma is a UA-camr. When this show was airing, she had the biggest Musical UA-cam channel in the Netherlands, which is what got her on the show. I HOPE her channel is still the biggest, she totally deserves the distinction! Her channel is AMAZING, full of covers. I don't think she has any originals on it YET, but I know that everybody WANTS her to do some original pieces. I think she got signed recently (I could be wrong, but I heard that she had, anyway...). Obviously, we only want the best for her. :)
I would love to see your reaction and breakdown to Henk Poort singing "Your Man" to Ruben or singing "Noelia" to Rolf. They're both great but VERY different songs. I agree with your words about this show; it's sweet and endearing and special. I get a feeling of warmth from watching videos from the show.
Dutch musicians are top notch, Dutch engineers are also excellent and last but not least the Dutch absolutely love music .. and no I am not Dutch.
Emma heesters henk poort - vivo per lei is great to and rolf sanchez - solo otra vez singing a cover of celine dion in spanish most people missed that one
there was only 1 song this season where no one kept dry. try NOELIA sung by HENK POORT. it was sung for ROLF SANCHEZ. the grandmother of rolf always sung it. he had special connection with her. after she died he had not heard that song anymore , was too hard for him to handle. so it realy was emotional rollercoaster for him. also try SOLO OTRA VEZ done by ROLF. it a spanish version of ALL BY MYSELF. floor said about that that it is a song where you know in the beginning that a special note will come , and yes , rolf nailed it.
I have a small proposition. Let's mix it up a bit. Can you react to Dir En Grey - Vinushka live at NIPPON BUDOKAN (eng subs are included aswell)? It's so emotional and raw i think you'll love it as you did Tool. . Kyo's vocal range is out of this world. Thanks and cheers!

Some here think this concept may not work in the USA, because it's not showy or plastic. But I'm sure plenty would love it, and that plenty more will realise that _this_ is what they needed. Back in the day MTV's Unplugged was considered very risky and it turned out to be MASSIVE, changing the music scene.
Great reaction and analysis video again! Emma is very good. I think she is a big fan of Christina Aguilera? You really need to check out her duet with Henk "Vivo Per Lei". It is wonderful and dramatic. I can't wait to see what you think about this one. Stay safe and be well! Yes, I prefer Emma on this onto floor as well. I feel the connection easier, and the key and the tone she uses suit the song and bring out the warm feelings in me better. No one is taking away from Floor's talent , but she's not Number one in everything to me. And that's OK.

I think it is possible to be too close to the material. Floor just can't control her voice singing this song it is too much for her. Emma has a little more distance from the material. I do also prefer Emmas tone. The whole arrangement of this song is beautiful and obviously Floor thought so as she has since started singing this version. Kudos to the band and Emma :)

She does a special ‘thing’, where she translates popular songs (from Indonesia, the Filippines and other non-English countries.... I don’t know exactly which ones 😊) and she turns them into English covers. I would definitely recomment ‘Hanya Rindu’, it’s a beautiful romantic song. And very beautifully sung by Emma! ♥️

I have watched the episode with Emma as the featured artist ( Beste Zangers 2019) , It is almost in her genes in singing - Father I think has something to with music , and mother involved in a amateur music theatre group.

It's really personal for Floor and she rarely performs it, so when I saw the live video from her solo tour, it was like a Christmas morning lol. I'd really like for you to check out a performance of this song, but in 2007 (with her previous band After Forever). Yes, it is a beautiful message, but you got it slightly wrong. Don't shoot me. In the full episode you see Floor and Emma talking about why Emma choose the song she did for Floor. The song was written by Floor about watching her mother struggle with illness and trying to put on a brave face. Emma's Mother also was ill and it bonded them together with her rendition of the song.
She did a nice job with this. A little too Mariah Carey for me, but I'm comparing her to the Valkyrie that is Floor. Very well sung though.
