      @MrsDorn22  3 роки тому +3

      @@latoniabanks1230 some hair dyes "rinses" don't require developer but for permanent and demi permanent hair dyes all require developer to open your hair cuticles and deposit color, also if you are going lighter the developer provides lift in color by opening cuticle and removing dark color and depositing new color. If you are looking to color your hair without using developer you would want to look for Semi permanent hair dyes that only coats the hair strand

    1:1 ratio whether measuring in grams or ounces You will do the same amount for example 80grams of color + 80grams of developer (more common in permanent dye) if your dye has 1:2 on the box you will mix 80 grams color + 160grams developer (common in semi/demi permanent in this video I used 40grams+ 40grams sometime it goes a lil over but that's okay you just don't want to over dilute color. Hope that answers any questions you may have.

      Do you mean color and developer or toner and developer? Developer is what makes it work, also it turns a dark color once it startes to oxidized if you ever open a permanent or semi permanent color that is already dark near black do not use it because it has oxidized already making it WEAK and will not color hair even or at all

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  3 роки тому

      Hey, no you would use less product for bleaching you just want to get it to a creamy consistency its not as technical as permanent hair dye but if you are using a scale I would start with using 10-20grams at a time for powder and 25-45 grams of developer always put powder first. If it comes with a scoop inside use that as a measuring guide if you do not have a scale

    • @MrsDorn22

      You can but the semi will dull the permanent color meaning it may not lift as light as you want, keep in mind color does NOT lift color so in order to change the vibrancy of the color you can lighten it. Is it too dark or too light for you?

    A few months ago I got my hair done at the salon and I went a really nice ginger color but my color has faded out a bit and my roots have grown at a little I don’t want to pay to get my hair done professionally and I kinda want to do it at home because it’s fun lol with that being said I have a few questions. I’m thinking about mixing the colors 5r (light brown red) and a little bit of 7RR (intense red) do I use a Developer with this stuff and will it lighten up my roots enough to have an even color because I really don’t want to have to bleach my roots. Side note my roots are like a dirty blonde color. :)

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  3 роки тому +4

      Okay Amber 👌, yes it is okay to use those 2 together I would use 20 volume if your hair is almost blonde. At the last 15 min or when you go to wash it out add a lil water then pull the color through your ends . It would be better to use a 10 volume on your ends but that will mean you will need 2 bowls of color 1 for your roots (20 volume developer) and 1 for your ends (10 volume developer) if you don't mind I would like to see what color your starting from to make sure I'm recommending the correct volume do you have IG? But from what you described this is what I would do to my hair

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  4 роки тому +5

      Heyy so you have 3 options a level 8,9,10 so if you get a color that's says level 8 use vol 10, level 9 volume 20, level 10 volume 30 ONLY because your hair is already light enough a little lighter would be level 8. 10 volume lifts you 1 level, 20 is 2 levels, 30 is 3 levels. For example you want to be a honey blonde level 8 it'll probably say 8NW or 8NB or 8WB (not literally) but this is how you know the level number your hair is transitioning to, always remember to deep condition after any color service! And only dye CLEAN hair okay I hope this helps

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  4 роки тому +2

      Also make sure your hair color is a number 7! Look up natural hair color chart on Google to make sure you are the correct number, also your hair will lift if it is Virgin meaning you have not gotten color on your hair since you grew it out from root to end! If you have gotten your hair colored I recommend going to a professional as that would be considered a color correction which normally range from $100-150/hour so please keep that in mind

      I do apologize for the late reply, unfortunately being that you dyed you hair you will not be able to lighten hair any more than where the dye took it. The only way is to lighten with bleach which you want to be very careful when using as your have previously chemically processed your hair and so to avoid compromising your hair I cannot recommend professionally what can be done next with out seeing the color it is and if you’ve colored it before

    hey girl, the instructions always say to color unwashed hair, but you’re the 2nd pro I’ve heard that says apply to clean hair. Can you elaborate on that please and do you consider it clean if it’s washed but has hair oils and leave-ins in it? I have crazy thick wavy and coarse hair and I have to use all manner of taming agents after I wash it. I typically put some combo of olaplex #6, ouai rose oil, Moroccan oil, igk mistress, etc.
    also will having used nizoral shampoo make anything weird happen? It’s for Malassezia or itchy scalp.
    also- man my hair is waaaay longer than it’s been in a long time and I truly don’t know how to go about the physics of applying color, it is so much easier when it’s short but now I don’t know where to start, where to clip, etc. . it’s barely past my shoulders and I’m going for the look in my pic here again, from blonde all over to a split between red and blonde. I’m starting with about 3 in of light auburn virgin hair and the ends are blonde. The front is a damn mess but I’m doing something to tide me over until I can see someone and afford to pay them, this is really long but an attempt to be thorough. Here’s what I am hoping is a functional link to an image of my current sorta deal

      Hello Jacynda It important to have clean oil free product free hair prior to dying your hair, this is important because our hair strand has cuticles and these cuticles can be blocked by oils and products. Clogged cuticles can cause uneven process an can look spotty or not take at all in those areas. it is also important to not have wet hair when applying color to your hair because it can do the same/ cause similar reaction an be diluted or completely wash down the drain. I know a lot of people say it is safer for your hair if you have a coat of oil on your hair but that is not wise. before becoming a professional I followed someone who said use coconut oil first before bleaching and my hair came out so splotchy spotty nasty. Now that we have that are you trying to achieve the same blonde as your ends? or are you looking to try a different color? as I can see your hair is a level 9/10 blonde, if you were to go darker I would recommend using a semi permanent or demi permanent dye on your ends (safest for lightened hair) then use permanent dye on roots. OR if you are going blonde on the roots you can get Bleach with 10 or 20 volume developer. part your hair into 4 sections you will focus mainly on your new growth do not touch blonde area yet. then after you have applied color onto roots then go in with your demi permanent. to tone blonde. If darker part into 4 sections and apply color on roots and save ends for last 15 minutes. I hope this helps

      In short: the hair itself needs to be product free, but having oil on the scalp is a good thing as it protects the scalp from being irritated by the developer.
      Everyone produces oil at a different rate, and different hair textures require different needs, so this idea doesn't work for everyone. If you feel it would take too long for the scalp to get "oily" while the hair is left without after-care, then just color right after washing and drying without applying any products. Then you can do your usual hair care routine after rinsing the color.
      Hope that helps! :)

      If your bleaching no bleach on hair that hasn’t been washed in atleast 48 hours 24 your pushing it. The reason is bc the oils In ur hair helps keep ur scalp from burning. Hair color isn’t that big of a deal as much as when ur bleaching. I’ve colors my hair on washed and not washed. But bleach I never bleach on clean hair! And I also do it myself. Semi/Demi you can do on clean hair also.

      First your want to get your hair to a yellow color all over before using green, the reason why is because orange and green together makes brown so if there is orange still in your hair it will be brown in those spots. If your wondering how to get it from the yellowish orange stage to the yellow I was do a soap cap( bleach wash) using clarifying shampoo mixed with bleach powder and 10 or 20 volume developer make sure your hair is free from any product or conditioner prior to applying soap cap. You will put on almost like regular hair dye and then emulsify the product in hair let sit for 15-25 minutes and the wash out using a neutralizing shampoo

      It honestly goes based off the ratio requirements of the color you’re using, if it states 1:1 thats 1 oz to 1oz or 1:2 is for every 1oz of color to use 2oz of developer , so if your small bottle is 4oz half could be what you need for a 2oz tube of color that requires 1:1 ratio

      If you use 30 volume developer with a dark brown hair color or that midnight violet black permanent ion dye it will blow your cuticle open and damage your hair it is best to use a five or a 10 volume developer when going darker you can use the 30 volume developer for your bleached pink area that will be framing your face but you will need to go out and get a 10 volume developer for the darker areas so that you don’t blow your cuticle open as it will be harder to get them back closed

      You can face over processing your hair the thing is if you are going to bleach your hair again 20 or 30 is fine depending on the lightness of your currently bleached hair. To add color using 30 volume on bleach hair is not recommended what so ever firstly the color will not be the color to expect, why is that? Because 30 volume will blow open your hair cuticle and make it hard to close around color 5 or 10 volume developer is recommended for depositing color on top of prelightened hair(bleached) I hope this help if you have more questions feel free to ask sorry for late reply I was out sick for a few weeks

      There's a big chance it will not get light enough. if you buy bleach and mix it with 20 volume developer and get your hair to a level 8 which is a yellow color not orange then you will tone your hair with medium ash blonde with volume 10 NOT 30 or you will damage your hair be sure to have more than enough product on your hair you literally want your hair to be saturated fully to avoid splotches .part hair into 4 sections start in the back taking slices of hair do not put bleach on root area until your hair ends are completely saturated then go BACK and apply to roots

      Your blonde hair literally need to be the color of the inside of a banana 🍌 at least yellow that will be the only way while using platinum toner otherwise your color will not come out as planned, there should be no brown, toner alone will not lighten hair (roots or ends) also being that you have already dyed your hair to make the parts you previously dye lighter you will be required to bleach it using 10 or 20 volume, lighten your previously dyed hair first before going to roots because your new growth will get blonde faster. Also another tip never leave a toner on longer than 10 minutes if your blonde because you will stain the blonde purple if it sits longer, if your hair is blonde enough 5 minutes may even be too long you really have to watch your hair once the yellow go away rinse and invest in a purple shampoo to avoid over processing hair in the future with toners

If your goal is to just add the burgundy to your already medium brown hair it will work with 10 volume. I do not recommend 20 vol for you unless you have grey hair. If your hair is darker than a medium brown you should exchange it for a permanent color dye, and then from there if you are going two shades lighter 20 volume will work if you have more questions let me know

Those will do the job either one. Be careful to watch for the level red you will be dying your hair as well for bright vibrant colors semi permanent or direct dyes are ideal to be able to change it without really damaging your hair, if you have anymore questions I'm here okay 😁

    Is the mixture sapposed to be brown?

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  2 роки тому

      This is because the color will oxidize the longer it’s mixed but it must be on your hair when it does for it to take. It will not be black due to all the different colors they had to put in to make black so as it oxidizes it will get darker and darker, mainly semi or demi permanent hair colors will be black already because the color will only sit on top of your hair.

    Little tip for when you're mixing your colors you should never use any metal when mixing chemicals there could be a chemical reaction which could cause the bleach to cause a hot root that's where it looks kind of orangey and burnt or worse it can make your hair fall out they do sell plastic whisks at like Dollar tree but Amazon if you're a student sells the best starter kit comes with two covers that actually covered the front and back of your client too plastic bowls two sets of real rubber gloves that you can use over and over again and colored hair clips with no metal in them the whisk and then the professional comb with the pointy and I am not a stylist but I've been calling my hair since I was born LOL I am Platinum normally my hair would be around us 6:00 or 7:00 with the strawberry undertones if you are coloring your hair for the first time using high lift color would be the best and the fastest way. But if your natural hair color is a nice color and you just want to lighten it I would just use a toner on it stay away from the bleach if you can because once you start bleaching it you start killing your hair.then again I am not a professional as you can see by my picture I'm just stay normal blonde mom well Platinum now.

      Do you have gray or resistant hair? If not you will only need a 10 volume to deposit her black onto brown hair to avoid over processing or blowing cuticle 10 volume is more gentle on your hair

      Yes I understand they say sensitive but that's to your scalp the developer is still strong enough to work without using too much strength 20 is good for gray hair, most box dye have 20 vol and up for that purpose you can use it but as a professional I recommend using 10 volume developer. If you choose to use the 20vol since you already have it and know for next time to use ten I reccomend doing a deep conditioning after you finish

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  3 роки тому +4

      Most tubes come as 2oz (ounce) tubes (unless labeled differently) so that'll be 4oz of color between 2 tubes of dye. So if the tube say 1:1 you will use 4oz of developer with 2 tubes of dye, if it says 1:2 you will use 8oz of developer.

    Does it have to be 10 volume developer?

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  4 роки тому

      The level developer determines the amount of lift, 10 volume lifts 1 level, 20= 2 level, 30= 3 levels and 40 = 4 levels, if your natural hair is a level 2 and you want a light brown you will need to reach level 5 so that means you need to use 30vol but if your hair is a light color and want to go dark 10 volume developer is the right Choice unless your hair is mostly gray you may use no more than 20vol

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  2 роки тому +1

      It is recommended to measure your hair product when mixing to ensure desired results before I become a licensed cosmetologist I didn’t know I needed to measure color either. My goal is to make sure you all have the tools you need to do your own hair at home if you do not wish to go to a professional. Walmart and Amazon have affordable scales available in the food area. I expect for people who are doing their research to watch before buying the tools you need. If you look further down my page you will see me dying my hair before learning any of this and I used a measuring cup to measure it definitely wasn’t accurate but it was an effort. So how ever you’re able to get the result you need improvising is not discouraged. Thank you for watching

    • @MrsDorn22
      @MrsDorn22  4 роки тому

      You will need to use a direct dye or semi permanent those don’t require use of a developer . But you can apply to your hair they same way as shown in the video. But depending on how pre lightened you get your hair lifted to you may need to tone if your hair is brassy or yellow using a purple shampoo for yellow, blue shampoo if hair is orange (this only applies if you are using vibrant colors)

      Only if its semi/demi permanent meaning its temporary they do not require developer it will specify on packaging if mixing is required, this will come out as a tint on the hair depending on the color your hair is before applying
