Resistance 2 ending did have a logic in it and it fitted in the timeline of the game. Dunno why they didnt like it, imo hale in RE 3 surviving everything up until now would make him too much of a one man army and a godlike surviving everything. There was a countdown and he ignored it only to destroy the chimera and so the cosequence was that he must have turned into 'Daedalus like' or be killed while he had human looks. He wouldnt like to be a chimera to 100% and capelli did a favour to him.

Reno Black I love biochock, but I might not play the second time because the first time I played, it scared the hell out of me lol. Only managed to played it once, but still one of the best game settings I ever experienced. The ending was really nice in my opinion
The worst ending EVER, that i've seen in a video game, was The Last of Us. We do countless hours of journeying and endure pretty hardcore deaths of players we love, just to find that Joel becomes a complete psycho and the world is still going to fall to shit; because he chooses Ellie over the survival of the human race!!! xD we didn't even get to choose!

Bioshock and borderlands were good endings. Mass effect and half life had good endings as well, they were just left off at a cliff hanger that will just probably never be continued
What about SKYRIM? You had a over 100H quest, killed Alduin, Come back to Tamriel, and what? No one gives a shit about what you did, no one says congratz or anything. I expect a end scene where everyone would be happy. Same happened with the DragonBorn DLC

I also thought Infinite had a bad ending, but once you play the Burial At Sea DLC, you realize it's somewhat of a preface to explain how *SPOILER ALERT* Booker is Comstock and Elizabeth is Anna. Once you play the DLC, it has a much better ending that ties Infinite in with the first Bioshock, tying together all the loose ends.
Halo 2's cliffhanger ending made Halo 3's beginning fantastically satisfying. That was the point. Halo tells a rich intricate story line. They don't want the player to be satisfied and know all there is to know just by playing the first 2 installments.
The twist was good. Pretty much everything after that was an obvious sign of being rushed. The level design was worse. The ending was sub-par. The Big Daddy section was incredibly tedious and annoying. The game overall was great, but everything after the twist was poorly done. Even the devs admit this.

And it's the absolute worst because it's typically because you were against an unbanned Ekko, had afkers/feeders, or just had stupid teammates who refuse to push objectives while you were trying to absolute best and pinging and doing everything in your power to win. OR, and even worse, you were doing so well and mid way through the game or at late game your team either has a dc, gets noob baited at baron, misses the dragons, or some other element that should just not have happened.
Oh no, ive been through a playthrough with a close friend of mine from start to finish bioshock infinite. i can just tell its good, and having been through that, i can easily see the amount of creativity. HOW good it is, will have to wait tilli i play a game myself though :P

Rage wasn't a very good game in general, but the ending was absolute shit, you think ok I beat some waves of enemeys and turned on the machine time for the final boss fight and a cool ending but nope the fucking credits roll and your left wondering why the fuck you played this game.

Assassin's Creed 1. It wasn't even a cliff-hanger because there wasn't a cliff to hang on to, the game just stopped. You're told you're in trouble, you go back to your room, you see some creepy shit on the walls, and Desmond says "...what?" -and then the credits come up. That's the ending. Desmond saying "What?" Brilliant. 4 stars. A+. 5 stars.
Perhaps you didn't talk with Lucy enough/interact with the present world enough to gain insight on the shit happening around you. talking to her/eavesdropping on them eventually nets you the code to your bedroom door, then her pen drive to access her PC, then Vidic's pen drive and finally she reveals herself as an assassin to you.

Honestly, I feel like the reason people don't like the ending is because Shepard died (but you can make him live). The ending was pretty good I think and Shepard dying? Well, they wanted to tie up all loose ends and make sure people knew this was the end of the trilogy (except for that chest rising scene, GOD DAMMIT!), unlike games such as Halo and Call of Duty. So, I prefer that: let the game die gracefully, or put it 10 feet under and keep stabbing it until fifteen spin-offs, a movie, and whole bunch of shitty merchandise is sold. My ten cents right there.

In the bigger scheme of things, it really does. You either destroy the reapers, control the reapers, or synthesis. The only reason people didn't think it could make a difference, or what I think, is because you couldn't play past it and see all of the differences first hand like you did with the first two games.
The one where you save your friends was actually very satisfying for me. I got a great sense of accomplishment and happiness! No idea why! Oh well, I love that game! XD

It is almost like you guys did not play resistance two. Nathan Hale was going to turn in the end because he didn't get his regular dose of the inhibitor. The ending was foreshadowed throughout the story, and if you guys failed to pick them up, you don't deserve to do these top 10 lists. Also shame on you for hating the bioshock ending. Straight Busta! I never really liked Desmond, but I was interested in the modern day story. ACIII just completely cocked it up by pushing the Templars to one side, killing off Vidic and Cross in the most disappointing way possible and worse, the whole modern day story turned out to be WAY less interesting than previous games made it out to be. Still better than the ME3 ending, I guess.

Bioshock shouldn't be on this list. The good ending is one of my favorite endings in video game history. The bad ending is OK, but that's the ending you get if you harvest the little sisters instead of saving them. Lists like this one are more of an opinion type thing.

+Brandon Elledge I loved the Ending of Bioshock, Ryan dies, Atlas / Frank dies, Doctor Tannenbaum makes up for her sins, Jack gets the life and family he was deprived of, and the Little Sisters get the loving father they deserved by simple divine right. Also at the end of Bioshock 2 the plasma for the Human Spirit is found just like Doctor Tannenbaum thought it could be, but not in Jack, instead in the DNA of Subject Delta the greatest hero of Bioshock.

Bioshocks ending was fantastic.I couldn't understand why people were annoyed that killing Ryan wasent the ending. Personally I preferred the ending where it turned out you gave the Little sisters a future and all of the children that suffered in rapture ending up like one big family including the main character.
Ok really? WatchMojo does NOT do their research. Heck they don't even use common sense. Halo 2 is a cliffhanger... Duh... Gee I wonder why? Maybe because there's another game after it! Halo 3 anyone? That's like saying the end of the Star Wars Episode 4 is awful because not everything gets summed up. There's more to the story. And the fact that the final mission is an Arbiter mission should have no effect on the ending to the game. Yeah I'm a fan of Halo and that's why I'm posting this but it really applies to everything. If they claim an ending is bad because it's a cliffhanger, then they have no room to rank endings of games.
At the time there was a huge backlash from fans over the ending of Halo 2, not as big as ME3 but was still pretty big, because people didn't know when exactly when or IF another game was coming out. It was still an unsatisfying ending, nobody was happy when they finished it because of all the unanswered questions. You need to consider when the game actually came out, not playing it now knowing there are more games.

I don't know why you said Halo 2 had "An Arbiter Ending" with such disgust. Arbiter levels were WAY better than the more generic Master Queef levels. Plus Arbiter is awesome.

I hate the ending of any video game that sends you back right before you beat the boss after you win. It's just like, I saved the world. Why can't i talk to people who now admire me?
The ending of KOTOR 2 is the way it is because LucasArt rushed Obsidian to get the game out by Christmas, resulting in alot of content that was dummied out. Obsidian wanted to release the cut content as a patch, but LucasArt, for reasons we still don't know, refused to let them. Several mods piecing together this cut content were made, but never completed for different reasons. A restoration mod was finally released a few years back, thus finally making pretty much everything make sense.
I remember beating Halo 2 for the first time with a buddy of mine.. The screen went black and we prepared for the next level. There was no next level. We yelled at the TV for about 20 minutes.

Alp Karakaya reason why I said shitty is because ....for 5 games you been training to be a master assassin. You armed the knowledge of Altair you armed self with the ablity of ezio and the sense of conner, and you just touch a disco ball and died. I believe that for assassin creed 3 for the "grand temple" they been preaching they should make it hard to climb or a maze farther than what Altair can do or ezio even conner. I just felt it was a waste of time to train to be the master assassin and just fry.
It wasnt a worst ending....you knew his time was up 65 years old and doing what he has to go through from the time he was 17 until now, you knew it was his body catching up to him. For people who think he was poison...thats on them...i just feel he died in peace looking at his wife and daughter
I haven’t played most of these games but I heavily disagree with the comments on Bioshock’s ending. It was a good ending and you getting to see the fruits of your labor seeing the little sisters grow up and be given their freedom is beautiful
Yeah it annoys me how people constantly complain about the ending. I'd rather take a bigger and more climatic ending for the trilogy through a game than one or two more missions in the second game.
JMPERager Except that Two Towers was not intended to be a seperate book. The Lord Of The Rings was written as, and still technically is, only one book. The publishers divided it to make it more marketable. The movie DOES have a satisfying ending, ending right after Helm's Deep. IT ties up the major plot threads from that installment while leaving room for more. Halo 2 doesn't do that.
***** About TLOTR it is true what you say. About Halo 2, if you got brains you understand that there will be sequel, it's written all over it. Halo 2 was mainly about many grunts and elites under the Arbiters command and/or believers join humanity's side to stop the High Prophets' plan to remove all sentient life through extinction. The elites are also shunned by the High Prophets and the Elite Councilors lose their spot in the High Council and are replaced by Brutes. Halo 2 is about stopping the brutes and the plan of extinction the High Prophets have.

***** I can concede that there are a fair number of glitches, and the whole storyline arc was awkward... But in terms of poor graphics, the water effects would like a word with you. In terms of no actual platforming, the "secret" levels would like a word with you. Super Mario Sunshine is a wonky game, but there are certainly good points to it.
***** he just doesnt like it for its eco friendly theme. as a kid i played both mario sunshine and mario 64 but i liked mario sunshine a lot more. most people say mario 64 is the best mario game to date but when i played it i didnt understand anything at all. why did bowser kidnap peach, why cant mario break down the doors, how can mario jump through paintings into alternate dimensions, why are those dumb bunnies so selfish that they cant give me a dumb key... there were so many things that made no sense whatsoever to me as a 3 year old kid (mario 64 was the 2nd video game i ever played) when i played mario sunshine everything made sense. although yes there are a lot of things still make no sense it makes more sense then mario 64. the story was a cliche but i was 3 years old so what could i complain about story wise. on top of that yes there are a lot of gliches in the game but i havent run into any up until recently when i searched some up. on top of all that it does 1 thing that very few nintendo games do good which is giving the characters a personality. by adding in a story no matter how good or bad u are giving the characters a personality, without that personality a very important factor is lost in the game. if mario doesnt know why he is saving the princess then how the living **** should i know why he is saving the princess. they gave every character a personality in mario sunshine whether they make dumb grunting noises or if they actually speak just simply adding that in gives u a reason to play and beat the game. btw i beat the game nearly 500 times (not including times i beat it from the age 3-9) and i still love the game more than any game since thats the game that got me into gaming and thats the game that made me love nintendo as a kid

Are you kidding?! Bioshock's ending was fantastic! Not only Jack managed to get out of Rapture, but he also defeated Fontaine and saved the little sisters achieving their trust and love. In the end, he went from a lab rat to a hero. (At least it was like this in the good ending, which is the canon one).

Nah, the Bioshock ending/s were hackneyed crap. It would have been better if they'd just gone with a single ending and scrapped the morality element, but making the team come up with alternate ones meant that none of the actual endings were very well developed. As Yahztee put it, you're given a choice between being either Hitler or Mother Theresa. The twist with Ryan and the trigger phrase, and Fontaine was INCREDIBLE, and easily one of the most amazing moments in gaming. The ending to the game was, most definitely, not.
BioShock had a beautiful ending! I loved the happy ending after I saved all the little sisters and I really enjoyed it. Although I do agree the boss fight was weak and the story got boring after the twist.
But it's really dumb. You became a big daddy, just so a little sister, which you had already transformed, open a freaking door. Why becoming a big daddy, why couldn't she just open the damn door, she knows you (also, she could crawl back the same vent she came, so we can avoid one of the worst scort missions ever made). And no, you wouldn't be able to have a normal life, these girls are traumatized, and in the process of becoming a big daddy, you cut off your vocal cords(again, just to get trough a door)! There's only two things I liked abou the ending: the part where your plasmids are randomized, if that happened earlie in the game I wouldn't have used only eletricity and bees the whole game. And that you get more Suchong's records, those are awesome.

I think Aliens: Colonial Marines deserves a place here. You finally get to the Xenomorph Queen, expecting an epic battle to wrap it up, and what happens? You push a button and it flies off into space. 2K don't seem to be great at endings, it seems.
Alien colonial marines shouldnt even be on this list since it isnt a GOOD game , it was so horrible i was bored of it first 30 minutes but i stuck through and my god was it bad. I dont even remember wtf happend in the last cutscene.
Spine_Ripper I got close but couldn't stand it any more. I watched somebody else finish it and couldn't stop laughing at how shit it was. My brother and I have made tons of jokes about how when fighting in the power loader you have to get out of it to die.
best part was when me and my 2 friends were playing and we had to sneak past al quida aliens in the sewers with no weapons on and i was the first guy in and i die rather fast, then next up on slab is one of my friend so me and the other friend are just sitting in a sewer pipe watching as he tries to sneak and it all ends up with " Im gonna die" and we see one of the al quida aliens walk towards him and explode.

Resistance 2 ending did have a logic in it and it fitted in the timeline of the game. Dunno why they didnt like it, imo hale in RE 3 surviving everything up until now would make him too much of a one man army and a godlike surviving everything. There was a countdown and he ignored it only to destroy the chimera and so the cosequence was that he must have turned into 'Daedalus like' or be killed while he had human looks. He wouldnt like to be a chimera to 100% and capelli did a favour to him.

I also thought Infinite had a bad ending, but once you play the Burial At Sea DLC, you realize it's somewhat of a preface to explain how *SPOILER ALERT* Booker is Comstock and Elizabeth is Anna. Once you play the DLC, it has a much better ending that ties Infinite in with the first Bioshock, tying together all the loose ends.

Halo 2's cliffhanger ending made Halo 3's beginning fantastically satisfying. That was the point. Halo tells a rich intricate story line. They don't want the player to be satisfied and know all there is to know just by playing the first 2 installments.

BioShocks ending is one of if not THE most brilliant and satisfying endings ever.
The twist was good. Pretty much everything after that was an obvious sign of being rushed. The level design was worse. The ending was sub-par. The Big Daddy section was incredibly tedious and annoying. The game overall was great, but everything after the twist was poorly done. Even the devs admit this.

Assassin's Creed 1. It wasn't even a cliff-hanger because there wasn't a cliff to hang on to, the game just stopped. You're told you're in trouble, you go back to your room, you see some creepy shit on the walls, and Desmond says "...what?" -and then the credits come up.
That's the ending. Desmond saying "What?" Brilliant. 4 stars. A+. 5 stars.

Honestly, I feel like the reason people don't like the ending is because Shepard died (but you can make him live). The ending was pretty good I think and Shepard dying? Well, they wanted to tie up all loose ends and make sure people knew this was the end of the trilogy (except for that chest rising scene, GOD DAMMIT!), unlike games such as Halo and Call of Duty. So, I prefer that: let the game die gracefully, or put it 10 feet under and keep stabbing it until fifteen spin-offs, a movie, and whole bunch of shitty merchandise is sold. My ten cents right there.

The only reason people didn't think it could make a difference, or what I think, is because you couldn't play past it and see all of the differences first hand like you did with the first two games.

Straight Busta! I never really liked Desmond, but I was interested in the modern day story. ACIII just completely cocked it up by pushing the Templars to one side, killing off Vidic and Cross in the most disappointing way possible and worse, the whole modern day story turned out to be WAY less interesting than previous games made it out to be. Still better than the ME3 ending, I guess.

At the time there was a huge backlash from fans over the ending of Halo 2, not as big as ME3 but was still pretty big, because people didn't know when exactly when or IF another game was coming out. It was still an unsatisfying ending, nobody was happy when they finished it because of all the unanswered questions. You need to consider when the game actually came out, not playing it now knowing there are more games.

The ending of KOTOR 2 is the way it is because LucasArt rushed Obsidian to get the game out by Christmas, resulting in alot of content that was dummied out. Obsidian wanted to release the cut content as a patch, but LucasArt, for reasons we still don't know, refused to let them.
Several mods piecing together this cut content were made, but never completed for different reasons. A restoration mod was finally released a few years back, thus finally making pretty much everything make sense.

I remember beating Halo 2 for the first time with a buddy of mine.. The screen went black and we prepared for the next level. There was no next level. We yelled at the TV for about 20 minutes.

Alp Karakaya reason why I said shitty is because ....for 5 games you been training to be a master assassin. You armed the knowledge of Altair you armed self with the ablity of ezio and the sense of conner, and you just touch a disco ball and died.
I believe that for assassin creed 3 for the "grand temple" they been preaching they should make it hard to climb or a maze farther than what Altair can do or ezio even conner. I just felt it was a waste of time to train to be the master assassin and just fry.

It wasnt a worst ending....you knew his time was up 65 years old and doing what he has to go through from the time he was 17 until now, you knew it was his body catching up to him. For people who think he was poison...thats on them...i just feel he died in peace looking at his wife and daughter

I haven’t played most of these games but I heavily disagree with the comments on Bioshock’s ending. It was a good ending and you getting to see the fruits of your labor seeing the little sisters grow up and be given their freedom is beautiful

Yeah it annoys me how people constantly complain about the ending. I'd rather take a bigger and more climatic ending for the trilogy through a game than one or two more missions in the second game.

Except that Two Towers was not intended to be a seperate book. The Lord Of The Rings was written as, and still technically is, only one book. The publishers divided it to make it more marketable.
The movie DOES have a satisfying ending, ending right after Helm's Deep. IT ties up the major plot threads from that installment while leaving room for more. Halo 2 doesn't do that.

About Halo 2, if you got brains you understand that there will be sequel, it's written all over it. Halo 2 was mainly about many grunts and elites under the Arbiters command and/or believers join humanity's side to stop the High Prophets' plan to remove all sentient life through extinction. The elites are also shunned by the High Prophets and the Elite Councilors lose their spot in the High Council and are replaced by Brutes. Halo 2 is about stopping the brutes and the plan of extinction the High Prophets have.

Super Mario Sunshine is a wonky game, but there are certainly good points to it.
***** he just doesnt like it for its eco friendly theme. as a kid i played both mario sunshine and mario 64 but i liked mario sunshine a lot more. most people say mario 64 is the best mario game to date but when i played it i didnt understand anything at all. why did bowser kidnap peach, why cant mario break down the doors, how can mario jump through paintings into alternate dimensions, why are those dumb bunnies so selfish that they cant give me a dumb key... there were so many things that made no sense whatsoever to me as a 3 year old kid (mario 64 was the 2nd video game i ever played)
when i played mario sunshine everything made sense. although yes there are a lot of things still make no sense it makes more sense then mario 64. the story was a cliche but i was 3 years old so what could i complain about story wise. on top of that yes there are a lot of gliches in the game but i havent run into any up until recently when i searched some up. on top of all that it does 1 thing that very few nintendo games do good which is giving the characters a personality. by adding in a story no matter how good or bad u are giving the characters a personality, without that personality a very important factor is lost in the game. if mario doesnt know why he is saving the princess then how the living **** should i know why he is saving the princess. they gave every character a personality in mario sunshine whether they make dumb grunting noises or if they actually speak just simply adding that in gives u a reason to play and beat the game.
btw i beat the game nearly 500 times (not including times i beat it from the age 3-9) and i still love the game more than any game since thats the game that got me into gaming and thats the game that made me love nintendo as a kid

Are you kidding?! Bioshock's ending was fantastic! Not only Jack managed to get out of Rapture, but he also defeated Fontaine and saved the little sisters achieving their trust and love. In the end, he went from a lab rat to a hero. (At least it was like this in the good ending, which is the canon one).

Wha..What! How is BioShock a "Worst" ending? That game and ending was great. I could never bring myself to do the evil ending..but that ending was perfect..didn't leave my mind going crazy like BioShock Infinite (yet another great game).

It would have been better if they'd just gone with a single ending and scrapped the morality element, but making the team come up with alternate ones meant that none of the actual endings were very well developed.

BioShock had a beautiful ending! I loved the happy ending after I saved all the little sisters and I really enjoyed it. Although I do agree the boss fight was weak and the story got boring after the twist.
I agree, the boss fight could of gone on for much longer, and I expected it to be way harder.
But it's really dumb. You became a big daddy, just so a little sister, which you had already transformed, open a freaking door. Why becoming a big daddy, why couldn't she just open the damn door, she knows you (also, she could crawl back the same vent she came, so we can avoid one of the worst scort missions ever made). And no, you wouldn't be able to have a normal life, these girls are traumatized, and in the process of becoming a big daddy, you cut off your vocal cords(again, just to get trough a door)!
There's only two things I liked abou the ending: the part where your plasmids are randomized, if that happened earlie in the game I wouldn't have used only eletricity and bees the whole game. And that you get more Suchong's records, those are awesome.
i think that a 2 big daddy's are harder to kill than the final boss. I mean have you seen how weak the Villain was. Total dissapointment in the game, The rest of the game is just perfect!

I think Aliens: Colonial Marines deserves a place here. You finally get to the Xenomorph Queen, expecting an epic battle to wrap it up, and what happens?

Spine_Ripper I got close but couldn't stand it any more. I watched somebody else finish it and couldn't stop laughing at how shit it was. My brother and I have made tons of jokes about how when fighting in the power loader you have to get out of it to die.

best part was when me and my 2 friends were playing and we had to sneak past al quida aliens in the sewers with no weapons on and i was the first guy in and i die rather fast, then next up on slab is one of my friend so me and the other friend are just sitting in a sewer pipe watching as he tries to sneak and it all ends up with " Im gonna die" and we see one of the al quida aliens walk towards him and explode.
