Right now there is no shortage of issues that need the Supreme Court's attention and intervention - but increasingly the apex court of India has grown quiet and opaque in its judgements and operations (i.e. Sealed Covers)
The latest edition of The DeshBhakt takes a hard look at the number of cases that have rocked the SC - including allegations again the former CJI Ranjan Gogoi himself. Instances that have largely gone unreported.
The trend - over the last few years shows that people are getting less from the highest court of the land - something that has resulted in politicians like Yogendra Yadav to call for people to take to the streets to protect their rights and the Constitution of India.

It isn't first time that the Supreme Court is in pressure.Don't forget that Supreme Court was the institution, who approved emergency to be imposed on our country.

Gone are the days when judges like justice V.R. Krishna Iyer unflinchingly gave away judgment against the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
Judiciary now seems like an offshoot of the Legislature..

Great job Akash & team - for focussing on the declining stature and status of the SC... The SC used to be the safety net of India's democratic ethos. I wasn't born during the democracy, can't say about the SC's position during that era. But in my lifetime I have never seen such mass distrust in the SC... I used to have this vague sense of assurance and security that whenever any govt would bring some outrageous legislation or policy the common citizen need not worry too much because surely a PIL would be filed in the SC for sure, and then the SC would surely sort it out. We all knew that there were instances delayed justice, then you'd read about evidence being lost or witnesses suppressed - but those were individual criminal cases. There was a sense of confidence that in case of questions of larger legal issues which had pan-Indian impact, on constitutional issues the SC would most definitely deliver justice, SC couldn't and wouldn't compromise on those regards, that's impossible ... But since Modi 2.0 began all of that trust now seems naivety, or self-delusion, or may be bit of both. It is deeply disturbing and depressing... The crumbling down began on 5th Aug, 2019. And since then one shock-wave after another has been weakening the foundation in jolts and jerks.
