Anti-National, we saw a sudden up surge in the use of this term since 2014, even i have been called Anti-National time and again. Whenever i criticized our government's wrong policy, whenever i tried to raise my voice against lynchings, whenever i talked about education, employment, health facilities, women safety apparently anything which is directed at government, someone always called me Anti-National. To me this term was new, i asked myself that i do care about my country so how can i be an Anti-National? and if i am one, i really wanted to be a Nationalist.
To search for the answers i started looking into "Nationalism" and "Nationalistic Ideas", but there's one more thing that drew my attention, just like finding a dusty old tome i stumbled upon one more term "Patriotism".
Being curious by nature, i started looking into "Patriotism" as well, and the more i read, the more it became clearer to me that who i was. I was that person all along but i didn't knew it before now, and i decided to remain that very same person for the rest of my life. Yes, I am an Anti-National.
Patriotism and Nationalism are often used inter-changeably and to some extent, refers to same thing that is, taking pride or celebrating one's National identity. The main difference originates with the ideas and principles they advocate. While both Patriotism and Nationalism can unite people, Nationalism often tends unite certain group of people against other group of people. With such thin distinctions between them Nationalist often disguise themselves as Patriots to push their agenda, thing we almost always witness in our country. By this definition, Yes i am an Anti-National.
Nationalism is based on the idea that an individual should put his/her devotion and loyalty for his/her country above everything else, even if it means rejecting the opinion and interest of other citizens or group of people. Nationalists often have contemptuous attitude towards other nations or group of people which they considers inferior to their own. George Orwell in his essay "Notes on Nationalism" defined it as the habit of classifying human beings as insects and dividing them into the blocks of good and bad and the habit of identifying oneself with a single nation or other unit, placing it beyond good and evil and recognizing no other duty than that of advancing its interests. A Nationalist never questions the state or it's government no matter what it does, for him his country is perfect, his ideologies infallible and needs no changes or reforms, the very reason they are not open to suggestions. Instead of taking responsibilities for his actions a Nationalist always finds escapegoats and accuse other people for his own shortcomings. Nationalism may mean different things to different people and can be of different types, as we have seen in case of Hitler who combine the word with his racist ideologies of "Ethnic Nationalism". Ultranationalism is extreme form if Nationalism which resembles Fascism, marked by Xenophobic sentiments and support for Totalitarian political arrangement. I don't follow these ideologies, yes I am an Anti-National.
Patriotism, is simply the love and adoration one shows for his country, his birthplace, a patriot not only love his country but also love the people living within it irrespective of their ethnic identities and cultural background as they are all citizens of the same country. Patriotism often associated with words like valor, bravery and self sacrifice. Unlike Nationalis, a Patriot never blames other for his mistakes and are always open to suggestions which can male his country a better place. Patriots too, respects the existing system and government but they don't follow them blindly, they raise their voices whenever they see injustice being done. Patriots acknowledge the patriotism and ideals of their own citizens as well as the citizens of other countries without contempt and do not try to force their will and ideologies on others. Therefore Patriotism creats a sense of responsibility rather than "Blind Ignorance", as evident in Nationalism.
These are the very reason most of our freedom fighters arw called patriots bot nationalists because they fought for "Idea of free India" and not for a particular community. Jingoism is the extreme form of patriotism which is aggressive and warlike and often resembles Nationalism. Yes i am an Anti-National.
So which is good Nationalism or Patriotism? Which one people should subscribe to?
While extreme form of both Nationalism and Patriotism is bad it's upto the person to choose who he wants to become. I am an Anti-National because i ask questions, because i condemn lynchings, because i want better education and healthcare, because i want a clean and corruption free system, because i want safe environment for women, because i want our youth to be employed and our economy booming, because i want the hypocrisy of government to end, yes i am an "Anti-National". India currently is witnessing a blend of Ethnic Nationalism and State Nationalism fueld by the ideology of "Hindutva" and it won't take long before it will all turn into "Fascim". They only way to counter these Fascist forces is through urging to people Patriotic impulse, urging them to think about the nation the way our freedom fighters thought. In a country diverse as ours Unity can not be achieved through Uniformity but by celebrating and respecting the ethinical, religious and cultural differences. We have to work towards creating a long lasting harmony by being tolerant of each other and by accepting a simple fact that we are all "Indians", yes i am an Anti-National because i am a "Patriot".

What is communal in India?

Obsession with "secularism" since 1947 has eventually turned Indian Constitution itself into a COMMUNAL and DISCRIMINATORY book.

Secularism means ACCEPT the "communalism of second majority" and tolerance means TOLERATE the "intolerance of second majority'

But subjects like English, behavioral science, history and so on are subjective. They are based on interpretations, can never be explained in black and white. World is full of grey. Human behavior can never be confined into any rule, law or calculation.
In a family there are 2 siblings-A and B. Assume B is a little slow and extremely sensitive to criticism. He is also rigid but expects A to be flexible. Parents ensure that B gets special attention in every possible way. Parents impose all disciplinary rules on A and B gets scot-free every time. Eventually, B gets demanding and turns into brat. Out of controls, he stops taking any responsibility and blames his elder brother or parents for all the wrong things in his life. Finally, A loses patience and wants B to be disciplined. A complains and one of the parent understands and starts questioning B too. Now B cries foul of being harassed.
Assuming B is genuinely meak, needs special attention. In which case, wise parents would always try to encourage such kids to grow stronger instead of constantly fuelling feeling of victimhood and inferiority in the kid.

Despite being given every special attention which the "second majority" needed post partition to make them feel home, after 70 years, they still don't wish to come out of victimhood mentality. Why should they call themselves minority instead of asserting of being Indians. Other micro minorities have grown without political patronage. They are above par with majority. Why only this "second majority" has issues not only in India but globally in all democracies. This is a pattern. They are most intolerant to changes but expect others across the globe to bear with their intolerance. If not they cry "Islamophobia". In India, blame RSS, elsewhere blame others. They blame every body in the world but their own inability to adjust.
Convenient explanation for stone pelting and terrorism is oh...we are oppressed...we are forced to pick arms. Really. Kashmiri pandits did not pick arms to take revenge. Do minorities in Islamic nations pick arms to fight injustice. Do other communities else where like hindus pick arms elsewhere to fight racism. NOT.
Globally people seem to be fed up of this victim card they play if questioned on their rigidity.
Ironically, muslims were a progressive community during partition but they are at the rock bottom today. How come secularism instead of making them economically on the top has brought them down to the bottom. Who is to blame. They vote for "secular" parties not because they wish to get schools but they want parties who give them a free run and mosques. Again for their poor condition they blame RSS. How can RSS stop them from getting education, if they really wanted to. So old tricks are not going to work any more.
Barring few, look at the general reaction of muslims on issues like #parisbeheading and such attacks, they someone justify intolerance yet expect tolerance from others. Muslims themselves are responsible for "Islamophobia" and it is them who need to work on changing the general view. No body else can do this.
Also, every caste and religion has poverty. Discrimination exists in every society and every nation. That can't be an excuse FOREVER to not strive in ones life for betterment. People from lowest ranks in the society make it to the top of civil service exams or top positions. They don't wait for others to motivate them. Despite all odds and discriminations they face, they do what they have to instead of playing victim card and blaming others for their laziness and rigidity.
People at 1, 2, 3 need to be told that you can reach 5 with efforts instead of being constantly told that you are at 1, 2, 3 because of 5.

Minorities everywhere feel unsafe, specially in India. Mobs and terrorists exist in Central Asia and also in Pak side of Asia. So you can't blame Islam for terrorism. What can you do if Islam spread so quickly than any other religion? Islam spread because of their trade routes in the whole Asia, not because of giving kids which people usually say. You know India has fallen in many categories among other nations, Hunger Index, Communal riots, Hate crimes, Women safety, etc. Read the 'Time' magazine of 2019, see what they have mentioned Modi as. Muslims vote for secular parties so that they do not feel insecure atleast in case of religion.
All the crimes are committed by Southwest Asia and you blame muslims in our country. Have you ever scene any terror act done by our citizens? No, because terrorists come from only Pak side countries. Geopolitics is the reason. And the way you show muslims hate, it makes them feel insecure and sometimes angry too, then terrorists reach them out and brainwash them and make them join their cause. This is called radicalization. So here, WE are the reason that some Kasmiri muslims join terrorists because we mistreat them and terrorists start making them feel home with them.
Have you ever seen Muslims asking for Mosques btw? I guess not because Hindus always ask for temples.

I am from Bangladesh. I want to clarify one thing which often misinformed by Indian media. Bangladesh is not Islamic republic just because we have Muslim majority in our population. Just like India is not Hindu republic just because there is Hindu majority in the population. We separated from Pakistan in 1971 which was and is an Islamic Republic. Our constitution is different from them since then. In fact, we included secularism in our constitution before India. Also, our official country name is: People's Republic of Bangladesh not Islamic republic.
