Thanks for such an amazing recipe Angel!! I’ve tried many variations of wonton soups and I truly love yours the best. I’ve made wonton broths many different ways including boiling pork bones, shrimp shells, etc etc but I actually love the tasty simplicity of your version and much prefer it. It is so much simpler than other ways and I absolutely love the flavour. To those wondering if this version of broth gives enough flavour: It totally does! Just put enough sea salt in there to your liking and the broth will also absorb flavours from the wontons as it sits in the bowl. Thanks again Angel! 🙂
Thank you for sharing the wonton recipe! I made it yesterday and it was the best. This is the recipe I have been searching for a long time. I can't wait to make it again for my mom. She loves wonton soup.
Nothing like a bowl of wonton soup! This is a really neat recipe and I'm going to make it. It is simple yet flavorful. Thanks for showing 2 different ways on how to wrap up the dumplings--I've only wrapped them up like cinched-up-pouches. I like your hammered pot with the wooden handle. Thanks.
Oh my! It's been 20 years since I've had wonderful yummy Dim sum recipes! I have gathered several of your delicious recipes to make and I'm so excited to get started! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes :)
Wonton Soup sounds so popular in Chinese and East Asian Cuisine! I've only tried making one Asian dish before and this is going to be the second one I make! ❤️
Angel, thank you for sharing your family recipes with us.I love them very much since most of them are simple and easy to make. PS: your videos are pleasant to watch. I love eating Taiwanese food and if possible can you teach us how to make 蒜泥白肉。
Thank you for your demonstration on how to make wanton with its stylish wrapping. Was enlightened to have learnt the two neat and presentable ways of wrapping the wanton as in the past I was squeezing it into a miniature bun! Even your ingredients are something new and pleasant too. Bless you on your sharing!
I'm going to make this! I might add a little bok choy to the broth, maybe some garlic too. It looks amazing. I just ate wonton soup this afternoon, but it's $10 a bowl. That's why I'm going to make it myself. Thanks for your video, it's very well made.
As for the soup discussion, when I was little my dad always made wonton soup only with salt too. But he would put in the thin seaweed, dried little shrimp, some leafy vegetable (spinach or whatever we had) and it's enough flavour this way while staying "light" to taste.
At our favorite Chinese restaurant, I always, ALWAYS order their Hot and Sour soup, it's my favorite. I've tried to replicate it by using chicken stock but it turned murky after adding the vinegar unlike how they serve it at the restaurant, which was clear. So I decided to use plain water (crazy I know!) and a bit of MSG and it turned out superb! I am relieved to know that you use plain water for your wonton soup as well.... I'm not that loony after all.
Jippie! It worked. I added for my personal taste light soyasauce instead of salt and fresh coriander instead of spring onion, (I have :( IBS) a few snifs of cumin and nutmeg because my first wonton was a bit too bland because I used less salt and allot more shrimp in the wontons. My wonton leaves were round so they didn't turn out quite so elegant (just half moons) as yours but they tasted great anyway. Made the soup according to your recipe and it is delicious. Thank you very much for making such a pleasant & clear video and for adding printed version, which was really handy during cooking. Hugs :)
Great job on your video, i was suprised with the soup just being water with olive oil and green onion, but i have had similar at some of the restaurants here where i live.. think i will give this a go, looks very good
+Fisheye lens Yes, I was very surprised that only water was used too. I haven't tried this recipe, but in my mind, salted water soup base has no taste. I would have thought that some kind of broth would have been used instead, like a rich chicken broth?
Warren Kawamoto well i did try it and with the addition of sesame oil and soya sauce it was pretty good..remeber the green onions added flavor. then next time i used the shells from my prawns, sauted with the green onions then added plain water and a little of the sesame oil and soya sauce and that was outstanding.. i suggest trying it you won't be disappointed
I love to cook..Lots of experience ..Never tried Won Ton Soup before..My lord it was amazing,! I took the meat mixture and let it simmer overnight for additional flavor. Thx again Angel for sharing an amazing recipe!
Just made them this evening, for the first time. Took a bit longer than I expected, but worth the effort :). Will definitely be making these again! Thanks.
Great job making this video! So easy to follow. I look forward to making this for my daughter. So sad to see how hateful some people get in the comments. Since when did people get the right to be so mean.
7:30 In Chinese Restaurants instead of using fresh filtered water for soup base. They use chicken broth 清雞湯 for soup base. 7:40 Even though if they use a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
I'm going to try grandmas recipe tonight. Thank You. (one day I would like to know how to make Peking Duck, and also how to eat it with the proper sauces)
5:47 In Chinese Restaurants. Instead of dipping your finger in water to seal the wonton edges. They use egg wash to seal the wonton edges. 4:36 or instead of drawing a line with your finger with water. Use butter knife with egg wash.
ill have to do this soon.... this coming payday yehey!!!! I thought the soup is hard to make thankfully im wrong... I love eating this at Chowking. it can relieved my stress. :)... thanks for this
made it yesterday and keep the rest in the freezer. although I didn't use shrimps as I am allergic, and no napa as forgot to buy. but it was very easy and simple to make and the most important thing is DELICIOUS!! thank you so much for the video ^_^ love your recepies!!
I've just tried this recipe today and the soup definitely needed some stock, I added soy sauce and chili sauce in my soup to give it more flavour. great and easy wonton recipe though as no onions or garlic chopping required.
Homestyle soup base would include: salt, pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil, cilantro, dried seaweed and dried small shrimps, then use water you cook for wontons or broth to mix with these ingredients
I am not sure the exact name for it, some people call parsley but some people call cilantro. I check it on google, some people call it coriander probably..
@Margaret Tudor - You are right, cilantro is very common in Mexican cooking! Sometimes I forget until I come across it in an Asian dish, but it's a popular ingredient in Asian recipes as well. Unfortunately, the smell of fresh cilantro gives me a headache, and I don't care for the taste. I hope it works for you!
hahaha love this girl shes like so sweet and cute and all. lol Great cook as well! Thanks for the vids darlin! (From Bc canada, Red Seal chef, and Asian Food FANATIC!!)
+Vera Wroe The soup is meant to be paired with these wontons. I think the wontons have enough flavors to make this soup flavorful without overpowering the taste. If you're not sure, you can always use chicken stock. I do recommend you try it once, you might just find a new favorite way to make this soup. :) If not, you're only out a few minutes and some green onions.
+Angel Wong's Kitchen Hey,, why are all you Chinese cooks always so pretty?!?! STOP HOGGING THE SHOW!!! Let's get some plain Chinese women on the show,,, ok??!!?? Geeezzz!
Angel Wong's Kitchen Dear Angel: Thank's a lot for replying. Can you advise about Chicken Stock, it's so salty how do I reduce it/balance the flavour better? Vera.
The plain soup is actually really great chicken stock makes the soup slotted bit too heavy also it's kind of nice to drink something light after eating the meaty as hell wontons. It sounds weird but the water that you cook wontons or dumplings in is actually also great to drink after eating them. Sure it's just flour and water and a tiny bit of meat juice from popped dumplings but it's actually very delicious and good for the digestive system after eating so much meat

I made this with ground turkey and regular flour and it is the best!!!!!
Yum! Ground turkey is a great sub, glad you liked the recipe! :D
I just had your wonton soup. Never had better once in a restaurant or elsewhere. Thaks for this recipe.
I used your recipe the other night and my girlfriend loved it, thank you. I did however use chicken stock along with filtered water.
Looks pure and simple and delicious!
We love wonton soup 🍲! Easy to make!🥢 after a long day of work.

You made me a baller at wrapping wontons. I always just did triangles but now I have two new, super easy ways to make them look awesome!
Thank you for your show how to wrapping the wonton.
thankyou so much. i was looking for an easy soup to make in the afternoon on a very cold day and your soup was the only easy and delicious one to do.
It only contained water, salt, white pepper and spring onions though, I would be surprised if it had much flavour?
Thank you soooo much for your video. Your video is easy to follow and your voice is very soothing. I will try very soon.

Thank you! I really appreciate the clear broth in a wonton soup. But I like more the Sesame oil instead of Olive. Greetings from Peru.
I had bought the thicker wonton wrappers and wasn't happy with the results. Thanks for the tip to use a thinner wrapping! Can't wait to try again!
chiquitalatinafun it's surprising how big of a difference the wrappers make. :)

A question: Rather than boiling the wontons, do you think it would work to steam them?
I'll try this next week for my Hong Kong wife, thank you!
Great job making this video! So easy to follow. I look forward to making this for my daughter. So sad to see how hateful some people get in the comments. Since when did people get the right to be so mean.

I think for many guys lives in GuangDong or those who speaks Cantonese , Wonton is their Childhood Memory
Whereas the majority of Chinese people eat huntun instead?
hi angel i like your food yummy thanks god bless.

Homestyle soup base would include: salt, pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil, cilantro, dried seaweed and dried small shrimps, then use water you cook for wontons or broth to mix with these ingredients
I thought cilantro went with latino type recipes like Mexican food but that sounds tasty. I think I'll try this with the cilantro next time.
I am not sure the exact name for it, some people call parsley but some people call cilantro. I check it on google, some people call it coriander probably..
@Zixiang Yan - I've heard cilantro called "Chinese parsley".

I'm confused by the "soup" because it was really flavored water
ie: water/salt/pepper/oil/green onion does it give enough flavor? Thank You.
