There is a restaurant here in Bakersfield, California that has awesome wor wonton soup. This recipe looks like it might be a close copy to their delicious soup. Can't wait to try this.
@@JessicaGavin You're quite welcome! I rate the wonton soups in the area where I live. Not one restaurant around adds mushroom, bok choy, shrimp or carrot. I'm lucky to find a place that adds pork strips. Some places add soy sauce to the broth, needless to say I never go back to them or the ones who are chintzy with wonton..
Your soup was delicious. I appreciated your extra tips on folding the wontons. The one thing I didn't see in your video is that it's important to squeeze out all the air, which is something I read/saw before. I was happy to see a minimum of salt and soy. It was so good that I didn't need to add any seasoning at the end. The only thing I added was a tsp of chili oil to my bowl, but only because I love spicy. Thank you so much. This is now my go-to recipe for wontons.

Since my original post. I've made this recipe 4 times. The only difference is I omit the carrots. And I add thin wonton noodles. Otherwise, this recipe is a classic keeper. @@JessicaGavin

Wonton soup is my favorite! And I have no problem with ordering it from a Chinese restaurant but it’s nice to know that I can make it at home if I want to.
Streamlining the Wonton making is the key. If you mince/dice the Shrimp then you can just mix them with the Pork and seasonings, if you lay out 10 wrappers brush all the edges then go along and drop your filling into to the 10 wrappers then fold, it goes a lot faster, next try 20 at a time. There's also the Pouch wrap method that's what I use, you can have a lot more filling with this Wrap. Google it, I generally dip the loose end into water and then let dry ...super easy and fast (7-10 seconds to make a Wonton)

Hi Jessica! The Bokchoy needs to be washed after you separate each leaf, because there is soil and dirt as you can see inside each boat shaped stalk, that is not washed off when it’s not separated, as you can see from your video when you showed the Bokchoy leaves! I actually soak it in water first for a few minutes b4 washing it, to get rid of the dirt! 😊👍🏻👍🏻

Yes you can! And just freeze them until you're ready to eat.

When the wontons are cooked, they float to the surface. No need to take one out and slice it open
