Thank you for the kind words! I’m finishing my first full month as captain, and it continues to be pretty crazy. 😂 This weather has made it very eventful, but as I continue to have successful outcomes, my confidence builds. 💪
Hi Christy. CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR FOURTH STRIPE ON YOUR SHOULDER! You worked hard and consistentely to achieve that milestone. I´m very proud of you. Keep it coming, Cpt. Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina.
I once watched an experienced pilot trying to land a Questaire Venture aircraft from the right seat. Although he was experienced as a pilot from the left seat (and a qualified CFI), he was trying to become capable from the right seat with this particular aircraft so that he could teach his friend. Talking to him later, he said that this little hotrod aircraft was almost more than he could handle from the right seat. Just changing seats can create such a difference it is hard to imagine for someone who doesn't normally deal with this situation. Congratulations Christy for finally overcoming this problem.
Congrats Christy. My first upgrade at American Eagle was in fact easy. I had flown the airplane as a FO for several years, so it was basically just moving over to the left seat. Those were different times (circa 1995) as I was a regional FO for over 4 years. My first CA position at the major I work for was a different story. I upgraded to CA in an airplane I had never flown before. Talking about different times, my son was awarded CA right out of ground school at UA.
@@michaelvane6827 My guess is that UA is taking so many widebody deliveries that international flying opportunities are abundant. NOTE: He does have to complete something like one year and/or 350 hours as a FO before being converted to a CA. But, after that threshold, he makes CA pay even while flying as a FO. It took me 11 years to upgrade, then I got kicked back to FO for 5 years after bankruptcy/merger. Still been a great career.
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! I’m finishing my first full month as captain, and it continues to be pretty crazy. 😂 This weather has made it very eventful, but as I continue to have successful outcomes, my confidence builds. 💪
Today 8/23/24 I flew from Billings MT, to O’Hare Chicago. Getting off the plane the Captain was seeing everyone off the plane. I acted like a groupie to see their favorite rockstar. To my surprise Christy was the Captain! BTW, the flight was flawless and she shook my hand. I did tell her I was a subscriber. Well done, Keep Safe and Well.
Congratulations on the upgrade. Your story/explanation is too familiar. Without taking anything away from your experience, you could replace your name with almost every other pilot that has ever made the upgrade. Brought back many memories. Good work.
I can verify that the weirdest things happen for the first month of captaining! Three times I’ve gone from FO to Captain, and yes, the most oddball things occur. It’s hard to explain, but it’s normal!

Excellent podcast Dan and Christy. Congratulations, Christy, on making captain.im confident you will be among the best. Its awesome to hear someone who truly loves their job. I hope to see you both soon. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️
Wow!! After the Captain upgrade experience Christy will need to find a good book to take along for her jump or she might fall asleep on the way down!! Wink Wink!! ;-)
I’m right there with ya! I’m in the middle of A320 upgrade. 😅 Your first 100hrs as a Captain is a crazy time (like your first 100hrs after PPL). On my Eagle Fed ride I had my first real go around in LAX. Sweating not violating airspace and ATC vectors was stress indeed😂

Congratulations Captain! Looking forward to jumping with you!
As a check airman on the Boeing 737 I find it very rewarding to facilitate a new Captain learning the ropes. Congratulations Captain Christy!

It’s been inspiring and joyful to watch Christy’s career. Congrats Captain.👩✈️
Congrats Captain! Soon it'll feel just as comfortable as it did on the right seat.

Initial GS? How bad are the schedules at UA that thousands of pilots won't upgrade?

@@pilotchristy You'll do just fine. You're very bright and 99% of the required skills of a Captain come from the mass between your ears.
Congrats to you Captain. Fantastic!
depends on whether she poked her fingers with the needle sewing on the 4th stripe...
Congratulations, Captain
11 knot direct crosswind is the point where I run out of rudder authority

Dan, y'all need to make your videos longer than 6 minutes 😂. That's how long this one seemed. Great episode y'all.
Thanks for sharing
Captain C. It's so cool. Congratulations from South Africa.

I start IOE at the end of the month. Consider this reply an issuance of a NOTAM 🤣
👍✅ Congrats 👏
Captain Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Bang Ding Ow will be your pilots today.
She made Captain but can’t afford another pair of pants on the show. Poor gal
😂😂😂
those pants give a new meaning to the term "landing strip" ;)
Making captain before jumping to an early demise.😂
Damn that’s messed up lol
That's not an amusing comment.
The glare off your back wall is bothersome!
Fantastic news: is that right Wong, your wearing four bars on your shoulders?

Forced upgrades is dumb

Very good thank you
