Yes! I went in at around age 35 saying I wanted to try new foundations because my face & skin were changing & current one was looking cakey & awful. The girl looked so confused. Like just point to the dewy foundations or tinted moisturizers, it's not that hard.
You look lovely. This is what we ladies from the 80s called the no make-up , make-up look. I never got into the heavy stuff. I don't like the heavy liners. Cream shadows are where it's at, friends. I use cream make-up now. My skin is dryer, so powders just set into wrinkles. Love this.
@diane kolosky I use Jerome Alexander spray foundation. The kit comes with a primer and brush for application. It was about $45. It's not cheap but it lasts a long time because you use so little of it. I use Julep eyeshadow crème sticks. They run about $10 each. They are lovely. They blend so well. I use Physicians Formlua butter bronzer for any contouring I do. It's not heavy and smells so good. I also have a Physicians formula eyeliner that is a barely there color. You can't mess it up if you try, but it still lines the eye and make your eye look open. It comes in a 3 piece set. It in Nude. The brown is impossible to mess up. I have fair skin and my daughter has very dark skin like my dad. And she uses it too. I just pick whatever mascara I like at the moment. My brows I use Guide cosmetics brow gel. I bought it and I'll never use another one. It again isn't cheap but my oh my is it great.
I remember the no makeup, makeup look! I’ll assume we’re in the same age range (grumble grumble 😅), and I’ve always heard that those of us with “mature skin” shouldn’t ever use cream eyeshadows (or any other cream makeup products) so I never bothered to try any. I have dry skin around my eyes too, and have had the same problem with powder setting into those gd wrinkles. I am super excited to see your advice, and as soon as I send this comment I’m going to bop on over to Amazon and see what I can see! Thank you so much for your comment and wish me luck! ⭐️❤️
Me too and I saw this and it’s basically what I do now. One small tip. If you’re ok with using and placing false eyelashes, do a search on UA-cam for Lashify!
I agree with you- they are clueless and act like they really don’t know why an older woman would be in Ulta in the first place- Sephora is much classier and helpful IMHO- at least it is where I live
I've never enjoyed hard, defined lines around the eyes. I use a soft dark brown which I draw onto the lash line. I then follow it up with a soft gold drawn right on top, smudging as I go. Works a charm every single time. Definition and a little smokiness without a visible line.
I do like the same thing! I use the NYX jumbo pencil in “iced mocha” it’s like almost the same shade you’re using from BB & I use the pixie eyeliner in black to tight line and fill in my lash line! Sooo great to see this! Looks fabulous on you!
Thanks Marie Gamez❤ for telling that we could hit the dots on the top right to find her product listings. Absolutely no one had EVER mentioned it, and I do appreciate the hint.😊
I've been trying to figure out who you reminded me of and it just came to me - Nikki Taylor, the 80s/90s supermodel. Obviously I mean that as a huge compliment ❤️
Beautiful! I’m older and I actually use a burgundy shadow stick as my eyeliner. They are so versatile. Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier shadow sticks have so many colors to choose from.
I love this idea. I love liquid liner but at my age I'm starting to like a softer look especially without tightlining. My opthomologist says tightlining is a no no. I'm going to try this with powder eyeshadow rather than cream and see how that works
Oh to have young unwrinkled eyelids! I enjoyed eyeshadows so much. I was lucky my daughter had a very skilled friend that did cosmetic tatoos. I have ink eyeliner top & bottom. Best decision l EVER made. What a luxury & timesaver. Had it done back in ‘05 & it’s still perfect. Your method is gorgeous on you.
How do you vet a tattoo artist for doing a perfect eyeliner? A friend had hers done a while ago too. I'd be so nervous since it's at the eyes and permanent.
@@lindajohnson4676 This lady that did mine had a salon in Vegas & did high profile ppl & when she traveled home to TX, she’d make appointments while she was in town. When ppl found out she was coming her schedule filled up fast. I was nervous but after talking to her & picking out my colors l could tell she knew her business & l went for it. Yes it’s like your eyes are under a sewing machine, but l’d do it again tomorrow!
This is how Ive done my eyes for decades. Didn’t realize this wasn’t the customary/popular way to do it. It definitely works well for blending and smudging.
I use Laura Mercier cream shadow sticks to fill in my lower lid. I then blend it out and smudge some on my lower eye to define. Khaki is my favorite and apparently many others too, it is so hard to find these days. Then I put on my mascara. Last step for this 60 year old is to tight line my upper eye with a Victoria Beckham beautiful kohl pencil in blue-green. This makes my eyes pop!
For those who have blonde or red hair, a brown liner will look softer than black. If you can't find a kohl/Kajal in that colour (they're the same thing), a gel one meant for the waterline will do the trick
Looks great, really like the softer look . If I were to use those products, they'd defo melt off into panda eyes by the end of the day. The kohl pencil on top would no way stay put, it would transfer EVERYWHERE especially on hooded lids. I don't think I can give up a regular ink liner atm.
Hey....thanx so much for this hack! I am doing that hack bcuz I am 71 yrs old & I just recently started using eye liner. I do my upper lid water line & smudging at the lash line too. I feel validated that I'm doing my eyes right. Thanx! 😍
This makes me happy. For years I've lined my eyes but now that I'm getting older I'm kind of over eye liner even though I love how it looks when it's beautifully applied. I'm going to try this and see if I can save some time on my eye makeup routine.
So glad you didn’t show tightlining, which I did for quite some time to recently find out from optometrist Dr Lisa Weidman, it’s very unhealthy to block that space on the eye as it secretes moisture and oils that eyes need . I’ve started doing just as you described 😁. A thin line at lash and smudge a bit. Love it
Shows exactly what I do, but I use a cream shadow stick with a pinker hew to give a youthful flush. Don't take the eyeliner all the way across on the lower lashline on the bottom, and not into the corner of the eye on the top as this will close your eye too much if you are older. Use a touch of a light beige or gold in the corner of the eye to brighten your eye. The Avon cream sticks are fab for this if used with nyx eye primer
Nice video, I really like your demo, as I transition towards retirement, I’m finding the black eyeliner is no longer complimenting overall look. To go completely without a lower eyeliner my eyes looked too small. Your demonstration has allowed me to transition to a softer look. Thank you❤️
Wow Lisa. Thank you for this tip. It’s so great now I don’t like to tightljne anymore. Can define my eyes effectively again. Happy with my eye make up again!
So pretty! At age 54 my eyes are definitely more mature than yours. Will try this technique with a brown liner. Btw, I purchased the Bobbie Brown eyeshadow color based on your recommendation ❤
Thought I'd seen it all, but this is a new combo for me. This was a very helpful, effortless tutorial. I'm going to give this a go tomorrow for work! Thanks :)
at 76 I have switched to liquid eyeliner because I find that the cream and powder eyeshadows tend to travel down and get into my eyes and cause me irritation.
You can also try the 16hr or 20hr stay/ no smudge liners, even e.l.f. has a really great one and isn't as harsh as the liquid can dry down to. Just wanted to give you a different option if you wanted to try
I love Butter London brand eyeliner. Everything else end up in the creases under my eyes, even though I only put it on the top lid. And if you want to smudge it into a softer line, you have a tiny amount of time to do that before it sets.
I loovvve this eyeliner tutorial!! ❤ I was needing a change from my usual makeup routine, and this is perfect! I already have those products in my arsenal of products! 😂 This is the look I’m striving for today. 😍
This is great. I hate going into Ulta asking for advice for older eyes. The younger girls look so confused when I state my problems.
Lmao
This is the truth!
@@westcoastbred7745 what’s so funny? Just wait till you’re a bit older and you start having the same issues

I would actually call this a natural makeup look. "No-makeup" makeup is more like how she looked before putting the eyeliner and eyeshadow on.

I tried it too! So much better than a harsh, thick line!
Better press a similar color eyeshadow, into the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow stick, so it doesn't warm up & melt.
GREAT IDEA…!! THANKS…!! 😉😉❤️❤️👠👣
Awesome! Please a wing hack! For the ones with hooded eyes 👀
Ya, I just made a comment that I don't know if this'll work for hooded eyes.
That eyeshadow stick is such a glorious shade. I love that.
