- Fox 4's Anvar Ruziev reports on the challenges faced by Fort Myers Beach restaurant owners, who are experiencing a sharp decline in business as they struggle to rebuild and adapt in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
Going to a tent to eat and dropping premium money on the food is not attractive....
Who wants to go on vacation to a place that still looks like a disaster area with that nasty ocean water from the Hurricane still there ? Margaritaville is gouging customers for beach chairs
So you mean there are less people there in the off season? Whodathunkit?
And another hurricane...just around the corner
The problem with Fort Myers is it had a hurricane and a lot of people here think it’s damaged
$12 appetizers and $25 main courses. Nobody can afford to go out.
Somewhat true. My wife and I went to a Pappadeaux's by our house this past weekend. It was noon, so you'd think it would be crowded. Place was maybe 40% full, so not too bad. But, I noted everyone was old. Including us, at age 57 and 60. I mentioned this to the mid-20's bartender and she said "Yes, people my age cannot afford to eat here". Noting our kids are just a bit older and basically only go out for dinner when we take them. And I can see why. While we had oysters and shrimp and all; my wife only had one drink and I had water. Bill was still $110. With tip, that's $135. When we take the kids and an occasional grand-child.... I can easily be looking at a $500 bill if we're drinking. It's hit $1k if the kid's friends join us at Dillon's BBQ for a football game.
Wife retired from a financial services firm, and I retired from the FDIC after 33 years with a pension. Retirement gig is CFO at a good-sized credit union, so we don't have to fret over the $ or anything. But, we're in the minority. And again, pretty much everyone at the Pappadeaux's was old. Just an observation.
Bella Mozerella has well priced entrees, some of which start at 12 bucks and come with salad and bread down in times square
Mother Nature
Can bring the world to it's knees
It will pick up when families start vacations since school,is out
Who pays for the rebuilds?
I would go to a food truck at least 30% less than a real restaurant.
The service has declined and the prices have risen. I cook better food at home
The video images, make the area look like some poor beach town from somewhere south of Mexico, it’s been a whole year since the hurricane, where is Desantis? Why hasn’t he help?
Florida has become too expensive. Only really good earners have money to go out to eat, and therefore less business when tourists have left. Rent prices are uncontrollable because the government fails to cap property taxes on rental properties. Property taxes and property insurance are killing landlords.
Humid..Humid. Humid...
Nobody wants to come to Florida
Please tell that to half the country who keep moving here.
@@SOLDOZER You must live in an apartment ?
Big news…south Florida is seasonal….muppet
☝️ This guy right here! 😂😂😂
Restaurants are going to be a thing of the past. Too expensive to run, too expensive to eat there
It is the prices. Biden Economics
Don't forget FEMA is going to make those business and homes extremely expensive to rebuild with their new regulations.
Thanks DeSantis
You are blaming DeSantis for seasonal fluctuations? That's like blaming the Gov. of Colorado for no skiing in June. Not too bright.
An Andrew Gillum supporter, please stand up.
@@maddierosemusic you know you'd have typed the same thing if your guy wasn't in charge.... these are the new rules now.... sorry
