- 4th February 2014: Incredibly strong winds combined with exceptional high tides bring chaos to the seafront at Torquay, Devon. Huge waves and gallons of seawater flood the promenade and main road near Torre Abbey Meadows.

...Used to live in Torquay 13 yrs ago, (went back for a 1 yr try) before that 1 yr stay, i was living abroad again, (15 yrs) so out of near on 30 yrs, i just went back for a 1 yr stay, i grew up in Tq, and i left at the age of 27, love Tq, but the wages were lousy, main reason for leaving, I will go back for holiday in about a year or two, married to a foreign woman and got a kid. Love the countryside, sure miss it, going down 'Dakham' (spelt incorrect probably) farm roads, hearing the bees humming and seeing wild rabbits and foxes running about, love the 'The Wild Goose Inn' what memories in that far off land so long ago, seems i was never there, feels like a dream. I live in Far-East Asia, in a noisy over-populated run-down smoky city. The fresh Torquay salty air, sure is a healthy place to live, my lungs must be black here by now!
I have a friend from Miami, and he says that this is a fairly common sight over there.
