@@epicwave7060 Small world, huh? I belong to a bluegrass band that will be playing tomorrow in Vännäs kl. 13 and also at Slöjdarnas Hus next Saturday kl. 14. I also play with a Swedish band, and we're going to play for "gammaldans" at Gammlia on the 19th, if you're interested in swinging by.
I'm twenty three years old, have lived most of my life in the city plane. Except few years in the mountains; I have lived; the wilderness, the picturesque nature and astoundingly amazing life has engulfed me and has created an immense love and respect for the mountains. Your rendition to the song and the resplendent voice, asking me to go back to the mountains again and again. A grand like for this presentation. Thank you for sharing this song with us.
I'm from Michigan too! The lakes are glad their daughter returns to them once in a while. You have a very beautiful voice! I hope you're happy in Sweden, I'll bet it's beautiful.
+Peggy91193 It's really special how if someone is from Michigan, you feel like they're family, and you don't think about your differences and how might not get along with them. We're all one big family! Say hi to ABBA for me, if you see them.
I play the John Renbourn acoustic guitar version but I wasn't aware that it could be sung... I thought it was an instrumental. Hauntingly and mystically beautiful lyrics. Thank you! Uplifts the soul. I'm must have past life connections to celtic music... Magical interpretation. Thank you! ... plus I love Sweden... you are lucky to live there.
Thank you for this Peggy. I have heard many instrumental versions, but never knew it had lyrics (duh). Beautiful! I'm going to try and learn it on guitar.
I saw a band called BowFire cover this tune the other night , so I looked it up here on UA-cam and found your version. Very very nice song and you covered it very well. Very simple and rustic. Great job.
Hello fellow Michigander! What a beautiful performance of this song!! I was looking for this song to share with my teen Americana/folk-pop singer-songwriter daughter Aspen. She has been supported by the Wheatland Music Organization's scholarship program to study traditional songs.
Hello Michigander! Thank you for your kind words. How exciting that your daughter is being supported by Wheatland's scholarship program! She's apparently a rising start in the folk arts and you have every right to be proud of that. I attended Wheatland's Dance Camp (usually on Memorial weekend) a couple of times, but the annual post-labor day festival many times. It's an amazing organization, so I wish your daughter all the best in her studies.
@@Peggysmusic We have been to the Memorial Day event several times now and she has been playing the hill stage for 3+ years. She also started in Interlochen's singer-songwriter program this year as a high school junior. Here is her UA-cam Channel: ua-cam.com/users/aspenjacobsen ua-cam.com/users/aspenjacobsen
@Ryedor Thank you for your kind words! I usually sing this song with my band, O'Grejdi Nua (an Irish band in Sweden). This lovely song sounds much "fuller" with my fellow musicians as back-up and my instrumental break on flute. If you're interested to hear the "full" version with my band, go to our MySpace website and search for ogrejdi.
I don't know. I've never even tried to find another one, so you can search yourself if you're interested. You might want to check other streaming music services like Spotify or Deezer.
Thank you ! It's magnificent ! Bravo 🙌🏻
Nice rendition of an old Scottish folk song
I play this on the pipes but hearing it sung, either in English or Gaelg, brings a tear to my eye. Thanks
