Thanks Clive. It's good to know that these Renbourn classics are still being played. The subtlety and beauty of this music place it with the best in any genre of guitar music.
Wonderful feel and tonality on this. John Renbourn's arrangements of these are so moody. I love playing them, having learnt them from his Celtic Melodies and Open Tunings VHS video a good few years back.
Beautifully performed Clive. I really enjoyed your show at Aston Pottery last month and so glad that I bought The Abbott CD - it's a masterpiece and it is obvious that a lot of thought, effort and time went into the recording of it.
So nice👍👍 I like the subtle things you do with phrasing and timing, harmonics and slides etc. makes it more personal. So.... can we expect a lesson from TrueFire, where you are teaching some of these great arrangements? A lot of us have the instructional videos from the early 90s, But it would be great to have a more detailed specific explanation of how he played them.
I would so have loved to be there on Crete with you and Mike and Dariush and the other gluggers. Your music is superb and this rendition of John's work is no exception...Thank you!!!
Hi Clive, Amazing as always. When I think of John I feel very sad that he left us so early and you are here and give me back my smile. I love the way you make your guitar sing. Looks like a new Bown BTW! We can’t wait to here your dedicated Renbourn CD ( or DVD with tabs…?) Thanks for sharing. Peace
@@paulmckeown5672 The guitar is tuned to open G minor. DGDGBbA So three of the strings are down whole step, B down 1/2 step for the minor third. G and D stay the same. Then capos it up to the second fret, making it easier to play, the stretches, and putting it in A- piano pitch.
@@gtrrobster Ah that makes sense now. The manuscript I have for it shows that the guitar is tuned to Gm but didn't say "capo at 2nd to play in Am". I just tried that and it does make the stretches easier than they way I've been playing it for the last 30 years. I should have guessed silly me 😁
that Mist Covered riff is just mindblowing...
A 4 minute 22 second tour de force showing how great John Renbourn was. Thanks for your magic Clive.
A masterclass in not only technique, but also dynamics and feel. Spectacular.
absolute magic. Thank you for keeping this music & tradition alive.

You play it better than I do...
Magnificent Clive. Brilliant work. - Steve Krenz
John would have been pleased! Clive is a true maestro.
Excellent….lovely playing 👍🍷
Wonderful Clive - as ever. Looks like you are enjoying the new instrument. From the bloke who carried your guitars into the concert at Warkworth!
Excellent verson of these tunes. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow next Feb 2024
An absolute masterclass.

Thank you Clive, I saw John play the Mist Covered Mountain a long time ago. I loved it then and I love your playing of it now!

Beautiful piece and playing Clive, great tone from that guitar and amazingly good recording from a phone.
Thanks, Clive. I can’t play the guitar but I can appreciate beauty like this. Come back to Cornwall again soon. Cheers John
Great Clive.
So beautiful Clive.

"Knuckle-busters", as an old teacher of mine used to call that sort of behaviour. Beautiful Clive, really looking forward to the cd.

So beautiful Clive!
amazing stuff Clive!
The earring Owen Roe O’Neill from the 1600’s? Sounds like him
Is that a new Bown?
Would love to know the tuning on this ❤
Beautiful acoustics in there Clive. Ralph Bown has magic in his hands I’m sure of it
Wnderfull but a question why the capo on 2?
Renbourn's original key.

@@gtrrobster so he has tuned the guitar down a tone?
