Im really interested in trying your method of growing. Thank you for sharing and making videos of your creations. I've got a lot more videos to watch but im enjoying each one. I live in a very isolated part of the west coast and im trying to develop a small CSA to generate income base to cover operational costs and generate enough produce to help supply local food pantries. This year I've planted a garden on a 100x100 pad and have grain crops on two lower terraces. It's 1,500ft away from my nearest power supply, and running water to it wasn't easy, but it's in. Gonna be busy on the backhoe soon. Do you think it's possible to operate a smaller scale system like you have on solar power alone?
A lot of the small water pumps can be ran from a solar panel if you get enough sun, but I know people that run what they call kratky hydroponic systems. Look it up, it uses no electricity. The system is self aerating by using a gap between the plants and the water, where the roots actually breath the air! God bless
@SaludaGradeFarm Thank you for responding. I've been looking more into the different methods and I think for my goals the raft technique seems to maximize production. I'd like to grow tomatoes in a similar way you are. Thank you again, I'll get in touch with you soon. God bless you and your family.
Glad to have you on board, i will plan on having a discussion of my farm experience and what I am currently growing, what’s worked and what hasn’t then. I have also tossed around the idea of putting out how I got my first wholesale customers. Thank you!
Nice! I grow vegetables myself to.. 5 kinds of lettuce also.. How do you use fertilizer? Do you put it through the water? Do you let lettuce sprout to harvest seeds?
I add fertilizer to the reservoir. I do not sprout these for seeds because most of them are hybrid, so the next generation would perform poorly. They are mostly all bolt resistant varieties so they do not go to seed so easily👍 thank you for your comment, and for watching 👏
Most informative and the best lettuce video I've seen. Excellent job! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the kind words!
