@@KeepOnGrowin ... I’ve posted an update photo on my post (Irene M. Not the designunlimited handle) on your FB page showing the lettuces that were started on my firstegg carton grow mats. I’ve just made another four of the grow mats. I’m also harvesting my own seeds now and made downspouts of course ... it’s all been very rewarding. Thx. 😁

I'm limited by a vary drafty tiny, tiny home with the worst lighting, in the winter. Your idea of a homemade grow box on a chrome shelf is going to be a life saver for me. Cool weather veggies will do well in a thin vertical garden with grow lights!!! I will have lettuce in the winter! Thank you!

Hey Mike I don’t know how I missed this video!
What I’d like to see is lettuce growing indoors comparing one with an air pump and one without. These are the things I’m interested in knowing:
-did it grow faster, more lettuce
-did the one without the air pump have any nasty smells coming from the water?
-I would also like to see as the lettuce becomes ripe around the outside you harvesting it and how often you are able to harvest it from the outside of the plant before you it start to bolt. Basically how many harvest cycles you get and if there is any difference between the two methods. It’s been my experience using an NFT system for my lettuce that I’m able to harvest every 7-10 days around the outside of the plants and then I can do this 5 times before it starts to show signs that it’s ready to bolt.
I would also love to learn how to let the lettuce bolt and then harvest lettuce seeds. I don’t know if you’ve ever done that before? I don’t recall, but I think it would be an excellent way to ensure food security and to continue with the process.
At present one of the easiest plant nutrients to get and use is the aerogarden because it just requires the addition of water.
One other thing to address is water sure you can go into PH Levels etc but I think to keep it simple just address letting them water sit for minimum of 24-48hrs at room temperature and does it actually have an effect on any possible chlorine or fluoride in the water.
Thanks! I keep referring people to your channel if they are struggling with growing leafy greens outdoors I tell them they can do it indoors and have none of the pest pressures or weather issues that they have outside and you can just grow consistently the same gorgeous leafy greens week after week. Which is exactly what I’ve been able to do after finding your channel. By referring others it’s my way of continuing to “bee the change” and thanking you for teaching me how to grow my own lettuce thank you!!🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦

So my wife has been buying these living lettuce at Safeway. When we've eaten the leaves, she replants them. We've had really good success with this method. I vote harvest the whole top and regrow the plant from stock. We leave 2 or 3 leaves on the original plant. Keep it going Mike.

Have moved it to a larger jar ,suspended thru a hole just slightly above the water.Gunna wait and see what happens next . I,ll be adding a mild 4-18-38 mixture soon . Did the same for celery too.

Another thing that would be nice is to have an idea how often do we have to refill these containers?

We’re already growing some lettuce and spinach using your downspout design and grow lights. We’ve also been inspired by your hydroponic tomatoes to attempt them but we’re curious as to whether you have ever attempted growing strawberries? I’ve been going through your -lay lists and haven’t found any videos on berry growing.

So glad I just stumbled upon your channel. I started growing indoors with soil. What a disaster with the knats! Then looking at all the indoor hydroponic systems was overwhelming. All very expensive and ugly. I have a VERY limited space in my tiny apartment. And plan on getting a tiny home in the future. So the smaller, least expensive and prettier the better. I would also like to use a solar aeration and grow light system instead of electric. I know it's possible...just haven't looked into it. One more thing...nutrients. Homemade possibly? Azomite? Idk. Mike, I've just recently discovered your channel and I first off want to thank you for all that you do to help us grow food as cheaply as possible. I'm just getting in to hydrophonics and growing indoors. I'd like to do the method you show in this video, but I have a couple questions. 1) I'd like to get the pump you show in this video, but I'm confused on how to put it together and use it in the system. Do you have a video on how this is done? 2) What nutrients do you use and how often fed? 3) I see you offer a learning class. Is all this taught in that class? thank you

Hey, Mike. I'm near you (High Springs) and have been growing indoor lettuce precisely this way for several years. It would be helpful if you would talk about the lettuce varieties you have the most success with. For me it's been Tom Thumb and other Bibb varieties but your's looks pretty awesome. Cos and Black Seeded Simpson also work fairly well for me. I can't quiet make out what you planted from the brief clip of the seed packet. Apologies if you've addressed this subject in a separate video.

It is an air stone for an aquarium. Available in pet stores, it aerates the water.
