Oh you should see the Bb Contrabass Trombone. The slide is actually double wrapped (so the positions are the same as a tenor in Bb, even has an F trigger) bc of how big it is.
How's the main tuning slide? I have a Schiller version of that and the main tuning slide is trash. It's weird because the D Valve and the BBb valve tuning slides move very very smoothly but somehow they messed up on the main one.
The tuning slide is good on mine. It might be worth taking yours to a repair tech and seeing if it just needs to be filed down or realigned to move smoothly
That's a good question. I haven't checked with a scale or anything but it's a good amount heavier than a bass. It depends on what kind of contra you have as well. I played a Miraphone BBb contra and it felt much heavier than my F contra I showed in the video. I'd say the F contra is about 1.5x the weight of a bass bone and the BBb is 2x the weight of a bass if that helps
I actually don't have it anymore. One of the valves warped after I dropped it and there was no way to repair it. Replacement parts aren't available either so another tech ended up using the remaining pieces to build something else
Sorry dude, but you serius about this “review”? You speak a lot and almost not playing the trombone. I think, the most people interested in the trombone sound, not your voice ;)
Well it's a review/overview, not so much a play test. I would've liked to play more but I didn't have a proper mouthpiece or time to do it although I'm hoping to do a follow up in the future once I'm finished repairing it.
Well contras aren't really known for their great tuning and this one is a cheaper chinese model that I only played for a few hours and had the wrong mouthpiece so I'd expect it to be out of tune. It did get better later on once I was able to get a proper mouthpiece and practice with it a bit.
Never realized just how large of an instrument it is until now
Hi Michael! I’m Michael too! XD I’m from England! XD 🏴🏴🏴 How are you? :)
@@mrwizzardknight I'm good :) must be nice living in England right now😅

Michael Davis Wait! Did you mean living in England in general and NOT with regards to the coronavirus? :)

Informative - as I'm not a musician but love the trombone sounds in classical music! Well done!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it

Stradivarius bass trombones rang around U$S 5,500.- I bought mine 23 years ago and it was 2,200.-
That is short and nice vid. Thanks for the upload, how much more or less did you payed for this one?
I paid around $1,500 for it so it was much cheaper than a professional horn would be
Thanks for an interesting video.
Please play more than talk. Would appreciate hearing a little hot jazz ditty. Know you can do it. Looking forward to your posting.
Thank you.

@@theinstrumentman7429 : Thanks for all the good info you shared with me. Have a nice day.
How is that particular horn playing after 3 years?

Have you had any problems with the valves not working like they should?
Not really. I noticed after the video though that they were not aligned correctly but other than that they work well.
how much is this contrabass?
thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure, I got it used for about $1,500 usd but I believe they're around $2,000 new if you can find it
@@theinstrumentman7429 okay thank you for your quick response :)
