Can TMJ affect hearing? I have been to several ENT doctors and they say everything looks fine. My left ear has had a “full” feeling for years now. My jaw also sounds like rice crispies on that side when I open and close it. I don’t know what else to do. It causes imbalance issues and everything.

Ack!!!!! this makes so much sense. I cracked a molar on the top/right side right in half and had to get it removed, so my chewing has been maybe unknowingly one - sided. The slight click on my left side has been noticeable lately.

Ah! I've had TMJ issues for like 20 years, ever since I've had my bottom left wisdom tooth pulled (the dentist had trouble pulling it out and tried to pry it out for way too long before choosing to break it down and open the gum.). My jaw would actually lock up fairly frequently on the left side for a few years - and still clicks to this day. Then I had a bike accident and fractured the other tooth on that side. So I spent a long time chewing just on the right side. Then I had an infection in a tooth on the right side which took over a year to asses and fix properly, so I chewed only on the left side for that time... It's been a back and forth of imbalances, really. I can barely keep my mouth open long enough for a regular cleaning, I chew weird. Not from an unconsious thing, tho!
Gonna try that third exercise over the course of the next few weeks. I bailed after 12 reps trying it out now. Yikes!

My dominant is my right side. I ran into your videos about a week ago and I am so thankful that I did. I have been doing your TMJ exercises every day now. Exercise #3 is taking me a little longer to do. However I will definitely be doing these TMJ exercises as much as possible to avoid another TMJ surgery. Having my jaw wired shut is not something I want to do ever again. So with that being said THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEO.

My TMJ was caused by being slapped in the face by my stepfather when I was a child which required jar reconstruction for correction as an adult. However, some of my home physical theory exercises were these 👍🏻 thanks!

My jar was wired shut for 3 months post-surgery, it was difficult to open my mouth and physical therapy was limited because I still had mental in my upper and lower jar. Massaging the sides of my face as you demonstrate helped release muscle tension, stiffness, headache, etc., it allowed me to open my mouth and chew with confidence.
Side note: drinking without a straw was the most challenging, still today anything liquid (soup, cereal, drinking from a bottle) is a bit difficult due to numbness on my bottom lip from surgery. Are there any exercises that might help?
Thanks for listening I don’t usually talk about my past experiences but it feels so good to do so. I’ve been watching your channel for years 💙

@@litolito1893I feel your pain with the surgery. I as well had the TMJ surgery and my jaw being wired shut for months was the worst experience ever. I have once again been experiencing the grinding and popping and have went through 6 night guards. Due to my strong grinding I have broken all of my night guards and am now re-shaping my teeth down to nothing. My right side of my jaw can actually pop out of socket like the shoulder does and I have to pick my right side of my jaw up and put back into place. I am so thankful for @Guerrillazenfitness and his videos. I have been doing the exercises for a couple days now and it seems like (I hope) they will help. I wish you the best with your TMJ
