I was reminded of that wonderful book "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" of how Francie, as a child of poverty in the early 1930s loved the luxury of having condensed milk when the family could afford it.

I made these for Thanksgiving the night before and I loved them so much I woke up at 5am Thanksgiving day to make another batch! And sweetened condensed milk is my new all-purpose condiment!
The evaporated milk has more fat which could be why taste better

I absolutely LOVE sweetened condensed milk. Guess after I open the can I'll just have to spread the scm on the rolls or dip by rolls into the scm. One way or another they're going to meet and make me very happy.

I grew up eating bread and condensed milk too. Specifically warm bakery Portuguese rolls and banquettes from our local bakery. It does bring back childhood memories.
I lived in Lima, Peru as a teenager and they put condensed milk on the fresh baked bread the vendors sold off the backs of their bikes in the neighborhood. Heaven on Earth! I had totally forgotten, thanks for bringing back that memory.

As a young pastry chef in Boston I made all the pastry for the Parker House hotel, to make the rolls they just half proof the bun, place a butter pat on one half and fold it over. Thats a lot more butter than brushing it on.

Recipes that use milk are a lot better and moister than the egg only recipes.
I've used brioche dough to make apple tart and sticky buns filled with pastry cream.

It might dry them out when you go to warm up in an oven-if you really want to reheat them, put an oven-safe vessel with boiling water on the rack underneath the buns to make sure they don't get toooooo dry.
