I have been watching your video’s for the past year or so. You got me motivated to get into wood working so to say. I can’t attach pictures, but have now completed a mud room with cabinets, chest, ship lap, and accent panels which are raised panels, then dining room wainscoting, entryway raised panel wainscoting with double staircase, and raised panel four wall (20 ft) in living room. Just finished oak pantries cabinets and walk in closets. Really enjoy it. Thanks for getting me motivated.

Basically just like making cabinet face frames, but on a much larger scale. Key here is that all the 1x material is the same thickness, which you ensured by buying the Windsor moldings, and that the edges are all square (not trusting factory edges). I'll be showing this to my wife when it's time to do an accent wall...
It is looking good! You should really look into a Lamello Zeta P2 and some Tenso fittings. You could probably have had everything together in less than half the time the Kreg screws took. The Lamello isn’t cheap but it is a time saver. And if you don’t care for the Lamello system then a KREG Foreman would have saved you some time as well.

I have watched all your videos I believe. I’ve watched your progress from does ok work to mastery of execution of project. You do some top notch work especially because it’s always a little outside the box with creativity.
Richard, love your videos and passion for the craft. I commented on someone else’s comment about why not just assemble on the wall verses putting it together as you did, and have noticed many others asking the same question. If you get a moment can you please address this in the next video so people understand it from your perspective? Keep up the awesome work!

Great job Richard, would you ever consider using a biscuit in the center of each joint with a pocket screw either side of the biscuit? It would make the joints stronger and help align the boards when assembling, I cannot fault any of the work you ever do you are a true professional, its just a suggestion
Have you tried the Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact driver. Lightweight, loads of power, and batteries last forever. I love mine. Most used tool I own. Also, I picked up the M18 18 ga. nailer on your recommendation. Very impressed! Thanks for all you do.

Interested to see which saw stand you are going with. The insider carpentry guy has a clever one he made, but Fastcap looks tempting if that's how you made your living.
My miter saw ( 15 yr old Dewalt non slider ) is a shop tool so I don't have to move it and can have whatever I can build and never have to break it down or carry it :)
And plenty of Windsor 1, it probably feels better when you are pocket-screwing it together. But another advantage MDF is that spray glue that's instant and no squeeze out. Anyway, super pro and inspiring. Looks clean.

I dont do interior trim and was curiose in the beginning of this video how you were gonna do this. I really like it. Nice work bro.
When I Kreg long or unstable sections I screw braces to the back of the frames to support while moving . Usually scrap rips . Once near the location, or in this case stood up , remove a few screws and install !
Helps a lot on large sliders or unstable Azek large banks of windows etc..

I like how you communicate with your employees. I've had bosses that would just expect you to know what they're thinking then get frustrated that you're not doing it.
I believe it’s his cousin, he’s mentioned the relation in one of his videos. That being said, I work for my dad, he’s a general contractor and he acts the same way as you mentioned. 2 years and I’m expected to know everything about framing, flooring, trim, cabinets, painting roofing, electrical and plumbing.
Construction is just a stressful, fast paced, physically demanding job, on top of all that it’s incredibly hard to train new guys. So I understand the attitude, but yeah it is very counterintuitive.

@@tylerkneer3984 I hear you. I roofed for my dad growing up, along with my brothers. I can relate! I learned a lot about how not to train guys at my current job as a flooring installer.
Some people are not good teachers. I'm one of them, everything I have learned has been from UA-cam. When I have to tell someone how to do something over and over, it gets to be very frustrating because I learned it through a TV screen and got it right the first time. Although I am an extremely quick learner, I forget not everyone is me. I always tell everyone to not take it personal and to just pay attention because I don't want to keep repeating myself.

I thought you had the EZ speedy fence/stand setup? I have it and its great. A little heavy and takes a second to level but it works nice. Roller supports as well.
Man you’ve inspired me to do so many things by myself around my house. Our local contractor thanks you a ton because he gets paid extra to tear out the mess I made trying to do all these things and then charge me to do what I tried to do originally.

Those clamps are gold! That's all you need when it comes to pocket screw joinery to achieve a nice and true flat surface.

amazing you got the pocket screws to hold, I did something similar but on a smaller scale and they just ripped out. I doweled them and that worked better.
Pocket screws work just fine if done correctly.
@@ilovelexi1t20 It was a heavy maple 4ft tall x7ft long panel, the vertical stiles ripped out.

Wood glue is stronger when you’re gluing boards on face grain but he’s doing end grain on end grain which is super weak.

Why assemble it beforehand if you nail gun anyway? Couldn't you have done all three horizontal rows first, and then connected them? I'm guessing it must make the joins tighter, and/or the studs weren't ideally placed? Or is it just needed structurally?

Don’t be ugly of course, but honestly after 15 years of marriage and taking about that long to get projects completed; I said “screw it”. I bought me some tools, made some of the things I wanted (obviously incorrectly with zero experience), re-made those things, spent a lot of time on UA-cam and took it upon myself to learn. Seven years later, I still don’t know anything about woodworking, and still building stuff to address needs around the property with the help of UA-cam and only asking hubby for help with 100+lb stuff and to come out and cut my thumb off the latest board I nailed it to with the pneumatic gun! I’m hardcore though (according to my daughter) because I pulled the rest of the curved trim nail out myself with pliers and went right back to work.
It’s not hard and doesn’t have to be perfect. Stuff I build seven years ago is still holding strong. 🤷🏻♀️

Looking good, but I’ll admit I was lost at the beginning of the video when you had that off-cut piece mitered at 1 degree. I didn’t understand what that was for and how you made it. And obviously, the way you used it didn’t make sense to me since I didn’t understand the other things. Any info would be appreciated. I’m thinking about doing something very close to this on my own wall and want to make sure I have all the steps.
I believe that small off-cut piece was scribed to the left & right side walls. I assume that he did one of these for each of the top and bottom rails.

That looks amazing! Why is it that you have to build the frame and then set it all in? Obviously that's better than building it against the wall, but why? What do you avoid or add by doing it that way as opposed to piece by piece against the wall?
@jubjub247 pocket screws are not always seamless
No wall is perfectly flat or planar. This way all the joints are tight and seemless and do not follow the imperfections of the wall
anyone that follows DFW knows that walls are not perfect and Richard wants the best finish possible. so it must be done this way. i tried 1 wall without pocket holes and
it sucked. walls are not perfect Richard is.
jubjub247 but he’s using paint grade no? Nail holes will not be seen. And it’s 1 by so it’s only 3 quarter thick who’s gonna pull that off the wall? Great way do to something like that if it was all stain grade though
Within two weeks of releasing this video, he released another video in which he piece-built a similar paneled wall. The difference was that in the other video he was using HiPur adhesive for the first time. My conclusion is that he built the wall in one piece in this video because he needed the strength of pocket screws and had no other options to get that strength until he started using HiPur.
