In this episode, I share with you my thoughts on this 2017 HSV ClubSport Tourer R8 30th Anniversary Wagon. The most powerful wagon ever released in Australia, the humble, already fast HSV Wagon has been transformed into something other worldly. A very rare example and one of the last ever-made, can a family car get any better than this?

Very nice mate , but please take out the H7 halogen globes and put LED lights on it and high beams to finish it off that yellow light is shit hay,
and the interior lights and indicators and reverse lights change the lot you will thank me for it , i have done my HSV and its chalk and cheese my friend 💪🇦🇺
@@speedfreak1161 normally the headlights are tinted but we had to remove the tint and because we have been in lock down we haven’t been able to get them re tintd
Longer wheel base? I think you'll find the sedan and wagon share the same wheel base with the ute slightly longer.
Its amazing what Aussie's can build, the VF was the best and last Commodore ever made.
Its a shame that Holden treated its clients so poorly that they drove Aussie's to other brands and the car was never supported the way it deserved. What a shame, I would have loved to own one.

Gm missed the mark by not bringing the wagon over with the SS. I know I am not the only person who would've pre-ordered one. Not everyone wants a SUV. In my mind this is the ultimate family hauler. Great review 👏 by the way lol . Ain't nothing cooler than a wagon 😎!

Wagons don’t have a longer wheelbase they share the sedan wheelbase in the zeta platform

VE and VF wagons are exactly the same wheelbase as sedans. Then sadly made the cargo area a LOT smaller than the previous models.
Edit: Sure the shortened back looks 'sporty' but not as practical for family use, sports gear, bikes, camping gear etc.
I’ve done alright for family use. Fits prams, shopping, dogs, kids bikes. Not really ideal to to take camping no. But I wouldn’t want to drive this to any camping grounds around here anyway! And the kids bikes are small enough to fit currently. But everything fits fine in the husbands Dodge Ram! Keep the kms down on this and drive the dodge everywhere

I wouldn't take yours camping either. The kids and I travel to Historic car races around Victoria, and always camp for the weekend when we go, that's why I became aware of the smaller cargo area. I just tow a trailer now, problem solved.

I have a 2017 Manual HSV Maloo with 640 hp but we are putting a massive supercharger on it soon but the whole car is made by Walkinshaw and I live in Albert Park

Spud there is still a lot of car meets and cruises in port Melbourne and Albert Park but I still go to car meets out of the area

One Question for me here in Germany: Why are "Aussies" that obsessed with "Kilowatts"?🤔
We say "PS" (Horse Power) here in Germany because Kilowatts sounds too technical like our TÜV Authorities...🙄 Yeay, we have to check our cars every 2 years that the car is still Functioning, and no Rust... Brakes, Tires, Lights, Muffler, Emmisions... and then we get a little Sticker on our rear Numberplate for the next 2 Years!👍That's nesessary because we drive fast on the unlimited "Autobahn's" here in Germany!😉😎

That’s not a genuine one. Same as this it was just built to look like a gts-r. We even asked when buying this at the dealership if they’d do one and they said no 😩😩

Love the video, so sad they are now gone. But the wagon sits on the same platform as the car which is why it is shorter than the preceding VZ/ Statesman Wheelbase platform. But they just blow the Audi RS6 and MB AMG Wagons into the weeds. Way better than a SUV

I love the car, the only thing thats VERY disappointing is the rear end. They could have done something special with the taillights instead of leaving it looking like a standard VE commodore. Its very disappointing, and for that reason and that reason alone I wouldn't go all in and buy it, cause they didn't go all in and design it.
800 HP on everything is going to be crazy. Try that much power on a go-kart or shopping trolley

HSV has announced that the brand will remain operational under the GM licence last week.
Correct, from memory Holden said they changed it to sedan wheelbase from feedback from buyers wanting it to be more sporty, hence "sport"wagon.

They did not come out with 6 piston rear calipers only 4 piston, so basically she has corvette rear calipers put on. still brembos, love them all, now holden owners are really happy as they are all going up each year as long as they are looked after and low kms, about time ,but the ford owners are doing the same, but they are stupid people, why because they think that all of the fords even FPV owners think they are all XY GT HO's, that's how they price their cars ,where as holden and hsv owners look at them based on marketability and average sales retail costs online and then put their car up based on that?
They did come out with 6 piston rear if you opted for the upgrade. Like we did when we bought it brand new from Holden 🤙
Did the gtsr front bar fit on without modifying or did it need modifying. I though the gtsr front fenders and that were like 20 to 30mm wider then gts and clubsports. If so i want a gtsr front bar for my gts
It had GTSR guards as well, there is no way to fit bar without changing the guards as they are wider and a different shape

It's a bit laggy needs a electric booster motor.You can buy them quite cheaply now.The difficult part is running 48 volts. The are no 12 volt ones with enough torque to spool up in a half a second.
What trans is it running?
FYI the wagon has the same wheel base since VE2 it went from being on the Statesman / Caprice platform to Commodore platform FACT so why does he keep going on about the wheel base

Brakes are not 6 pistons at the rear. Only 4.
It was an upgrade we optioned for and got 6 pistons all round.

It's not a GTSR. 🤦♂️ Just has gtsr front end it's a clubsport r8 tourer. GTSR only came in a sedan and ute.

@@Reefari More then likely parts from a write off or stolen recovery gtsr and parts aren't very dear to buy.
Parts are genuine and all brand new. Just got to have the right hook ups 😉

How much would a car like that cost these days?
The money whores who own mint Clubsport wagons will advertise $200k but realistically $120-140k. Then the added on body panels and goodies from Harrop would bump it up past $200k.

Like all hsv’s in auto the resale value will be dramatically less then the car enthusiasts manual version which is a shame. 25 years of history proves that statement correct.
The gtsr should only be made manual.
The wagons only ever came with an auto and it’s not a really Gtsr as they didn’t make them in the wagon platform and my husband runs a few panel shops 👌
