Kathryn Kuhlman: "The Spiritual Secret I Learned from Hudson Taylor"

- (w/ CC, subtitles in 24 languages) Kathryn Kuhlman reveals the profound spiritual secret that she learned from Hudson Taylor. Hudson Taylor himself had learned it via an inspired letter from a friend, Mr. John McCarthy @ the mission in Chinkiang, China. Hudson in turn passed it on in a letter to his sister, Mrs. Broomhall, whose burdens with a family that had grown in number to 10 children were very real and pressing! Excerpts from the letter to Hudson's sister, dated 10/17/1869:
"I feel as though the first glimmer of the dawn of a glorious day had arisen upon me. I hail it with trembling, yet with trust- as to work, mine was never so plentiful, so responsible, or so difficult; but the weight and strain are all gone. The last month has been perhaps the happiest of my life; and I long to tell you a little of what the Lord has done for my soul- Perhaps I shall make myself more clear if I go back a little. My mind has been greatly exercised for six or eight months past, feeling the need, personally, and for the mission, of more holiness, life, power, in our souls. But personal need stood first and was the greatest. I felt the ingratitude, the danger, the sin of not living nearer to God. I prayed, agonized, strove, fasted, made resolutions, read the Word of God more diligently, sought more time for meditation and prayer, but all was without effect. Every day, almost every hour, the consciousness of sin oppressed me. Each day brought its register of sin, failure and lack of power. Then came the question, 'Is there no rescue? Must it be thus to the end - constant conflict, and instead of victory, too often defeat'?"
"I hated myself. I hated my sin; and yet, I gained no strength against it. I felt I was a child of God: His Spirit in my heart would cry: 'Abba Father'; but to rise to my privileges as a child, I was utterly powerless."
"All the time I felt assured there was in Christ all I needed, but the practical question was how was I to get it out? I knew full well that there was in the Root abundant fatness; but how to get it into my puny little branch was the question. As the light, gradually dawned on me, I saw that faith was the only prerequisite, to laying hold of His fullness and make it my own. BUT I HAD NOT THIS FAITH! I strove for it but it would not come; tried to exercise it, but in vain. Seeing more and more the wondrous supply laid up in Jesus, the fullness of our precious Savior-my helplessness and guilt seemed to increase. Sins committed seemed but as trifles compared with the sin of unbelief, which was their cause, which could not, or would not, take God at His Word, but rather made Him a liar. Unbelief was, I felt, the damning sin of the world-yet, I indulged in it."
"When my agony of soul was at its height, a sentence in a letter from dear McCarthy was used to remove the scales from my eyes, and the Spirit of God revealed the truth of our oneness with Jesus as I had never know it before. McCarthy, who had been exercised by the same sense of failure, but saw the light before I did, wrote: 'BUT HOW TO GET FAITH STRENGTHENED? NOT BY STRIVING AFTER FAITH, BUT BY RESTING ON THE FAITHFUL ONE.' As I read I saw it all, 'If we believe not, He abideth faithful' (2Tim 2:13). I looked to Jesus and saw (and when I saw, oh, how joy flowed!) that He had said: 'I will never leave you.' (Heb 13:5). Ah, THERE is rest I thought! I have striven in vain to rest in Him. I'll strive no more. For has He not promised to abide with me?"
"But this was not all He showed me, nor one-half. As I thought of the vine and branches, what light the blessed Spirit poured direct into my soul! How great seemed my mistake in having wished to get the sap, the fullness OUT of Him. I saw not only that Jesus would never leave me, but that I was a member of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. The Vine, now I see, is not the root merely, but all-----root, stem, branches, twigs, leaves, flowers, fruit; and Jesus is not only that: He is soil and sunshine, air and shower, and ten thousand times more than we have every dreamed, wished for, or needed. {HE IS MOST HOLY WHO HAS MOST OF CHRIST WITHIN}. Oh, the joy of seeing this truth!
I do pray that the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened, that you may know and enjoy the riches given us in Christ. Oh, my dear sister, it is a wonderful thing to be really one with a risen and exalted Savior; to be a member of Christ! Think what it involves. Can Christ be rich and I poor? Can your right hand be rich and the left poor? Or your head be well-fed while your body starves? Again, think of its bearing on prayer. Could a bank clerk say to a customer: 'It was only your hand wrote that check, not you,' or 'I cannot pay this sum to your hand, but only to yourself?' No more can your prayers or mine be discredited IF OFFERED IN THE NAME OF JESUS so long as we keep within the extent of Christ's credit - a tolerably wide limit."

Great teaching thanks Kathryn, As a Babe in Christ we don't have to know it all but as we grow up we learn Gods ways, I have found God in the realm of the Indwelling of the Holy Ghost as we walk on to know more about God and spiritual things we will be babtized in the spirit of God and we can speak in Tongues as the Holy Ghost give us the language, it will yield good fruit but not overnight, Paul admonished me to pray without ceasing so I took the bible as being 100% true. I have been praying in tongues now for 10 years, 5 to 10 hours per day. I am so glad I did not quit, or look for outward signs that my prayers were doing well for me or others. For the longest time there was no evidence. Then about 4 years into this venture I began to experience the Holy Ghost in a new way, he begin to explain passages of the written word to me that made the gospel understandable to me. Then as I continued PIT for long hours every day and night, I began to have unusual favor dropping on me without asking anyone for anything, the favor was overtaking me at every turn in slight ways that only I could know. Another difference has occurred, I PIT but I also have a change it tongues to the gift known as tongues and Interpretations, I write these out as they are things that are being said to me about my near and distant future, and they never fail to come to pass. Now I prophecy almost at will without a pre-ceding tongue, and they too are 100 percent accurate and do come to pass, sometimes they are about biblical texts too, little mini revelations about the bible revelations of Paul and Peters writings. Now I am stepping it up and praying more hours on a consistent basis as God has blessed me so as I only have to work 2- 5 hours per day to receive the funds for my living.
I recommend you start and don't look back or even to think of stopping, PIT without ceasing and it yields big favor and grace. God says if you pray in tongues excessively it will make you irresistible, in my words whatever you need will find you it cannot stay away. PIT is a revelation gift to the body of Christ; it is the only gift we totally control the operation of. We choose to pray or not pray and when and where and how long. I understand by reading the bible this gift when entered into fully brings rest, REST from life’s toils and hard labor, Jesus gave me this gift, as Apostle Paul said I don’t want to despise Gods gifts. The Holy Spirit prays through me the exact next thing I am going to need before I become aware of my need and he then brings those things to me, by the heavenly helpers (angels on assignments) without my human labor, I can now understand the Apostle Peters admonition to cast all my care upon Jesus and he will care for me as a husband cares for his wife. Albeit this is not instant or overnight. But a sure foundation is being laid that no storm can destroy or overthrow, this lifestyle will become a rest state of being bringing Glory to God, if you don’t stop you will build yourself into a mansion in the father’s house that you and God will dwell in as the days of heaven on earth. This is part of what was purchased for you at the cross, God tried to give this to the Hebrews but they refused it. We are told NOT to refuse him who speaks to us the grace and truth which came by Jesus Christ. Hear me now believe me now, and don’t be a hater! Amen

My Pastor in the 70's taught on the end of days, discerning of spirits, etc. In our private counsel, he instructed me that MORE WILL BE DONE IN 3 YEARS WITH CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IN CHARGE, THAN A LIFETIME WITHOUT COMPLETE SURRENDER TO HIS SPIRIT. I have kept that in my heart all these many years, crying out for that TRUTH to consume this life.

Concernant leur dernier "downgrade", il existe désormais une fonctionnalité interne très fastidieuse avec la traduction automatique. Il y a maintenant beaucoup d'ajustements chronophages, y compris le paragraphe à synchroniser avec les sous-titres anglais originaux. Cependant, je le fais toujours, en particulier pour les langues les plus demandées.
Tout cela pour dire que UA-cam dispose d'une fonction de traduction automatisée qui fait partie de leur programme d'édition interne. Avant, c'était plus facile et plus rapide. Mais ils continuent de supprimer des fonctionnalités pour les créateurs indépendants alors qu'ils ciblent les entreprises et les médias grand public.

i still dont get it. ive asked the lord to reveal this to me and he will eventually. until that day im blind and i wish i wasnt. im no newcomer to the gospel, or ministry, or to miracles, yet im lacking and i just don't know why. its like stuck between ignorance and backsliding. going backwards is not an option, but going forward never happens. its a spiritual stale mate and it sucks. if youre reading this then by all means, im open to prayers for me to have a "great" revelation simply for my own soul bc i can care less about vain glory. i only seek to understand for my own soul's sake in order to be able to convey this to others to help them have a head start on old news🙏🏼

I’m sure they meant well but I wished they hadn’t used the word SECRET in the title because there are no secrets bin God. The word declared that “If anything be hid it is hidden to they which are lost”....
Kathryn was the one who used the word "secret" on many occasions in her messages on radio, televesion and the platform ministry. She meant it in the sense of a special revelation i.e. "word of wisdom" or "word of knowledge" about a given subject or doctrine. Specifically she was referring to the difficult doctrines or Christian experiences that defy easy explanation.
Don't be a strict legalist about the word. There may not be "secrets" in the strictest sense of the word to spiritual beggars who seek the face of God with all their heart, when they don't understand the meaning of a particular passage, in relation to doctrine or Christian experience. Yet there are secrets in the sense that many Believers have NOT sought the face of God for those answers and thus are left seeing through a glass dimly. Enter someone like Kathryn, who had sought the Lord on difficult matters of the Word and gives out of her abundance to those who are lacking in revelation. Remember, neither are the words "rapture" or "trinity" in the Bible, yet Christians use these words freely.

Keep in mind that she did not propagate any of the teachings of present-day "word of faith" leaders. Are you a cessationist or more of a continuist in relation to the gifts of Holy Spirit, for she was surely a strong continuist?
Ian Francis, whenever a man is touting a woman "taking to the pulpit" (as it were) as a Biblical "go to" I become highly suspicious of that man. Kathryn Kuhlman was a mesmerizing "show-lady" and fake healer, with a very weak theology. And if their first point of dialogue or even contention is about "gifts of the Holy Spirit"" I already know they are mystical and "Harry Potter-ish" in their approach to the Christian life. And generally their "fight" is about tongues, hearing voices, prophecy, signs, wonders, miracles and will never have much to say about sin, salvation, regeneration, sanctification, regeneration, propitiation, substitution, etc. Those terms become "oh please!" "no one needs all that!" Two pieces of popular fruit coming from the tree of Kathryn Kuhlman: Benny Hinn/Carlton Pearson. Need I say more? A typical charismatic being one thing in public and another in private. You remember Dino, the pianist from PTL and TBN? he worked for Kuhlman. Oh boy! #notafan
All of that to bring us to the point of the real issue at hand and that is that you are a cessationist. That is where your argument lies. I won't even address anything else in your foregoing comment because it would be futile, seeing that you do not believe the gifts of the Spirit for the present age. God will be Kathryn Kuhlman's defender and judge. Just as in our Lord's day and in defense of his ministry, the bottom line was and is that "if this man were not of God, He could have done nothing". (John 9:33). And, I think we can state the same regarding Kathryn Kuhlman's ministry, e.g. that if it were not of God, then nothing would have happened. The eternal fruit will stand on its own weight.
Ian, Kathryn Kuhlman was a Jezebelic false prophetess. We have to be honest about that. Because people stand before great crowds and may have some affinity toward Christ does not make them authentic. Jesus himself said, "many will come me in that day saying, Lord, didn't we do miracles, healings and signs and cast out devils in your name?" Jesus will tell them, Get away from me! I never knew you! You are a worker of lawlessness! This is what Kathryn will hear. What is haunting is that Jesus will "send to hell" many "continuationists." People that do works " in the name of Jesus." When tongues, healing, prophecies is your ministry focus, with mood music and theatrics,the Bible call that type of people a "perverted" people. The issue is there are more than 3-4 gifts of the Holy Spirit, in the Bible, but continuationists major on 3-4. That's the problem
In these last days we need to go extra "miles" and reach out for all God has for His Bride, including healing, which is the children's bread. There is no one on a level like Kathryn Kuhlman today reaching out for this bread of life that God has for His children. This is just the starting point: first of all the Bride needs to be whole and perfected as a witness to the world, next comes the healing of the world (to a degree heretofore unseen). When at last this happens, we will see the Bridegroom return. Let's don't hinder Him.
