- Derik gets surgery...but the procedure was a lot bigger than we thought it would be. Also his recovery in the hospital is HILARIOUS.

There is always a good laugh when someone is waking up after surgery. Derek did not let us down. His eye rolling was top notch, to say the least. Do what the doctor said. Don't try to rush your recovery. I know you have a lot going on. The kids, moving into your home, and then the every normal routine. It's difficult, trust me, I know all about having bad knees and how important it is to do only what you are told you can do. Also don't forget, just because you don't feel any pain, it doesn't mean you can now do what ever you want. Especially NO STAIRS!! I think they must use different drug combinations in the US to the UK. I’ve had anaesthesia for surgery where I was asleep and procedures where I was awake and never had this happen to me. The anaesthesia videos seem to come out of the US.

I had a torn minicus as well, and a torn ACL. I went 2 years before having surgery, but finally did it. Recovery is a process. My doc and physical therapy nurses said it would take a year for my knee to be at its fully-recovered, new normal. And they were correct. My mistake was trying to do too much before my knee was ready. PT and exercises really strengthened my knee and leg, which had lost muscle. It's a process, so be vigilant about making daily improvements. Sending healing and positive vibes. ✨️

I've had one knee placement for 21 years and it has been great and it's still in great condition. BUT, I'm scheduled for my other knee to be replaced due to arthritis and no more cartilage on August 28. I'm not looking forward except to the pain being gone!
Knee replacement is the worst decision I ever made. Two times on the same knee. Three years later, I’m still in pain every day.
@@sparrowsfriend My surgeon is doing a minimally invasive knee replacement and if all goes well I can go home the same day. Blew my mind. Tiny incision. Nerve block and twilight for anesthesia. I’m surprised Derrick didn’t have any prep. I have to shower with antibacterial soap and use that goopy stuff for 7 days. I guess she wants to keep her 1% infection rate. Hope everyone who’s having surgery has an easy recovery.

I'm glad that Derik is home to recuperate. I see he has an ice machine for his knees. Sometimes, it helps to add frozen water bottles in the machine, along with the ice and water. It keeps it colder longer. Those things are the best. I hope you continue to heal perfectly. Sarah, I'm sorry that you are going to have to be his nurse along with 2 little kids. I had to have knee surgery 9 months after I had our daughter. I ended up having to go stay at my parents' house with my husband and baby girl. It didn't have so many stairs. It's nice that you can work at home. The extra help made things so much easier. Get well soon, Derik!!

Alot better than my daughter used to be. She was MEAN😳😳😳😬😬🏃🏃🏃. She screamed, swung, kicked, yelled, swore, and screamed some more 😅😂😂. So glad she's grown out of it now that she's my size 🤣🤣

Hi guys. You both have got this. I am so glad that the surgery went well. My husband has a little trouble waking up after surgery also. I feel for both of you. I had knee surgery back in 2009 and now they are both bone to bone and I can't do anything about it right now. I hope you feel better and heal fast Derik, for both you and Sarah's sake. Prayers for you Derick! If it helps at all, I'm a 64 year grandma, and just had spinal fusion....no pain like this one. I've also had robotic cancer surgery and knee surgery as a teenager. Spine is the worst. Your very active, becareful, love your family and channel ❤😊

Derik will be the handful...he is non-stop. Please remember you have many decades ahead...listen to the Dr 's advice Derik, so your limitations will be fewer as you age. You want to be able to keep up with your "Buddy" after your taught him to be your partner🤔

Lol everyones usually a lil funny after a surgery. I work as a health care aide and have seen some good ones as well. A lil surprising and overwhelming as wel for the person to realize they cant use a leg. I have also been in the that position but both my feet back to back 9 weeks off one 9 weeks off the other. It was rough. But you guys are super positive and blessed you will do great in the harder times too! Dont rush the recovery.

Keep your leg elevated as much as possible to help the blood flow when your down walking all day you will see a colour difference.

His face and eyes were hysterical. I really feel for you Derek because I have had to have both knees replaced but I had a 6 month break between surgeries. Can’t even imagine having both knees worked on at the same time. And Sara I truly believe that you are an angel to be working while being on nurse duty and mommy duty. Crazy what we do for love!❤❤❤❤. Hey Derick....I feel you guy! I had a total knee replacement in 2021 on right side, total hip replacement in 2022 and the other knee April of this year. Not a lot of pain but just a lot of discomfort....I have heard that any knee surgery is more painful than a total knee replacement....in a replacement I guess the pain is removed and replaced with a device that has no pain so I just recover from being cut on....anyway God bless you and your family and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery!!!

I am feeling his pain. Had a total knee replacement 8 weeks ago and still having trouble walking. I had spinal block and stayed awake during 3 hour procedure so non of the woosy feelings. Take care and do as you are told xx

i’m so glad your meniscus repair went well. I had an ACL reconstruction and a meniscus repair on the right leg and unfortunately they hit a nerve and paralysed my foot so not only did I have the six week, Don’t put pressure on that leg but I also had drop foot, which I’m still recovering from and it took seven months before my foot woke up again, but it’s still not 100% and I’m only just starting to rehab the knee

Poor Derek, he’ll never live this down. He maybe the funniest waking up patient I’ve ever seen. Prayers for speedy healing. My husband had hip replacement surgery on Wednesday and 5 bypasses on Monday. So I know where you are. Exhausted and with 2 babies, I’d pull my hair out. You have to get some rest. Anyone who volunteers to help accept their help with both the children and Derek. You must get rest to be able to do what you need to do. It’s going to be VERY STRESSFUL. Prayers for you all!
When my son had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, he was anesthetized, when he was waking up, he was hilarious but Derik takes the prize. He cracked me up, but reminded me so much of my son. 😂
I had both my knees replaced in 2010- January and then in May . I was 60 then and now I'm 75. My right knee is still really good but have a bit of pain in the left knee.I broke my ankle Dec. 10/ 21 so that is part of the issue. Do what the Dr. tells you . Good luck in rehab.😊💜

I had a total knee replacement a year ago. Do what they tell you. You do not want a replacement. I am still in pain, I am seeing a new surgeon in a couple of weeks. The thought of any knee surgery even to repair or revise makes me want to cry. I was bone on bone at 54. The other knee is right behind it, replacement will be sooner than I want

Sad for y'all. It may be a srtuggle for a few weeks but this too shall pass. A few years ago I broke my right ankle but was in denial. I wanted it to be just sprained. 4 days later I broke my left leg. There was no denying that one so I HAD to go to the hospital. Got both injuries exrayed and yep...both broken. So, needless to say, both my legs were in casts. That was real hard but I stayed in good spirits and just figured out different ways to do my daily life. Derrie will be just fine in no time and y'all will be rocking and rolling soon. Just keep looking forward and up! 🙏✌️

God Bless your next 40 days I had to take care of my husband for 12 weeks he had hip surgery one right after the other to replace blood flow to his hip joint due to car accident and we got through it together with lots of praying and compassion. May God help your recover quickly never to go through it again.

I just had the same surgery on my right knee, and I can't put full weight without the brace till close to 8 to 10 weeks after surgery. I'm getting close to that date now, and they are letting me put pressure on my leg with crutch support. I do not ever wish to go back to those first few days. Hope for a speed of pain-free recovery and physical therapy works wonders.

UGh this throws back so many memories. I had both my Meniscus done last year one repaired then the other they shaved and then I also had my ACL fixed. I was so frustrated with that 6 week due to just them repairing it! But it was worth it! hang in there. I have 4 kiddos too so I get it 100% but if you can keep that meniscus hopefully you will have less issues later on and longer wait for any total knees!

Have never seen anyone react like that after anesthetic- the demonic eyes were so funny! Get well soon Derek- hope Buddy doesn’t want to play horsey on your new knee whilst it’s raised!
My mom, daughter & I are light weight medically speaking. A little anesthesia knocks us out, so we wake up faster.
The 1st lipotripsy for a kidney stone didn't take long, but it took several hours to wake up to go home. The same with my mom's rotator cuff surgery. She had to stay in hospital to sleep it off, due to sleep apnea/low oxygen levels.
Both of you- Hang in there! I had a ski accident in March 2023. Broke my right lower leg and ruptured left ACL, MCL, and huge tear to lateral mensicus. I’ve had lots of injuries but this was the worst recovery yet!!! Us having a golf cart saved my sanity bc I could at least ride around on it after a couple of weeks!!
