Regarding your comment about the abuse, I think what you perhaps aren’t considering is that people who have experienced real abuse may connect with a heroine also being abused and then getting her revenge on the abuser (Mazeen). The abuse was not by any means glorified. It also fed into her motivation to overcome her prison and fight back against them. That’s why she ASKS (consent) Hawke to take her virginity. I'm not reading this one. There was so much hype, but from the comments I knew that it just wasn't for me. And your description? All of these just sound disgusting to me. I mean, I'm ace, but I have never had problem with sex per se in books, so I think it's the way the sexual relationship and the romance are written and not just me taking issue with the genre as a whole. I think that Mor will be with Viviane's sister, but I'm certain that Maas would never write an entire book about a ship that's not straight. I'm randomly reccomending The Soul Eaters series by Eliza Crewe and The Young Elites by Marie Lu because they are among my all time favorites. Also, try 'They Never Learn'. It's a flawed book, I'd never deny that, but once some pieces fall into plave I was on board. Also, Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots has not been discussed enough. I really liked it.
As a seasoned blood and ash veteran who has read all of the books several times over and commented on all of the horrible writing mistakes and even read the prequel series- Blood and Ash sucks. Both have substantial time to mull something over alone, and then they have a conversation about their relationship and go on with their lives. It's very good development of writing, as well. I don’t think the popularity of Fifty Shades has anything to do with a sexual liberation. It was more popular with middle aged women who are sexually repressed and think that it was safe way to experience (badly portrayed) kink. Hello, after reading the comments and listening to the creator’s review on this book I feel like I should let the audience know that the first book was solely for world building//introducing characters. I will agree that the wording is a bit off in areas, but I think that this is mostly because it’s a character narrative, so we’re seeing it from the main characters point of you, this can commonly be seen with writers like JK Rowling.I feel like In a world surrounded by Easily readily available content we as a people have lost the ability to grow with said content. Meaning you actually have to read and grow with the character instead of skimming for romance (which there is a lot of flirting in the first book and if you must know it does get very spicy towards the end) I would also like to say that this book plays a lot off of body language, and goes in the details about the restrictions of what Can and cannot be said sexually. And the writer does a really good job of showing that, The first incident the creator above talks about if you read it is inherently not as creepy as she’s making it sound to be. And the abuse in the novel by the main characters owners is actually very real and quite valid but the back of the novel does say that she was abused I believe, if not heavily insinuating that she definitely does not have a good upbringing. For something like that I would say that it depends on your own mental health and where you are at in your own life. That being said it’s definitely not a a spicy//smutty novel I enjoyed it personally, and I read all of the books that the writer has put out this far, but I will say that the wording in areas can be a bit difficult to get through and that she is very dark as a writer. I wouldn’t consider this piece of work political either, I just think that she’s probably A bit new to the field.
Also I know that was a lot to read I’m sorry, but yeah if you’re not into darker books and Ranty one person narrative And a lot of flirting without sexual touching I would not read the book
(insert skull here) LESBIAN TIKTOK VOICE THOOOOOO write the gay rhys fanfic tho okay but why do i wanna read it anyway so i can text you my thoughts and rage together
This was the first fiction book I read as an adult, binged the whole series in like a week. The placement of the smut scenes is awful, and they also get really boring and repetitive after a while
But like she isn’t even aroused half the time? He’s just like “But baby you’re too pretty too not let me have sex with you” and she’s like “oh my god you think I’m pretty”
Hi. So I noticed you keep bringing up the issue of consent and honestly I'm a little confused. In all the love scenes they had, Poppy was more than consenting. In fact, for her first time, she was the one that removed her robe and asked Hawke to spend the night. Throughout their love making, Hawke is pretty good about checking in non verbally. No, he doesn't interrupt the woman moaning under him to say the exact words "Are you okay, do you mind if I put your breast in my mouth?" but he goes slow, and he's watching her, and there are moments he even pauses until poppy gives the go ahead. It seems very misleading to say there is no consent in the book when poppy has made it clear throughout that each act is something she wanted and Hawke has always waited for her go ahead to proceed.
Reading the book made me cringe..first who says princess nowadays??? Secondly the sexual scenes didnt make me anticipate anything because there wasnt prior build of a strong relationship... between Hawke and Poppy... the instances when he kissed her,i could say it was sexual abuse but he was putting alot.of pressure on her i didnt like it at alll

I enjoyed it personally, and I read all of the books that the writer has put out this far, but I will say that the wording in areas can be a bit difficult to get through and that she is very dark as a writer. I wouldn’t consider this piece of work political either, I just think that she’s probably A bit new to the field.
Also I know that was a lot to read I’m sorry, but yeah if you’re not into darker books and Ranty one person narrative And a lot of flirting without sexual touching I would not read the book
I DID NOT LIKE THIS VIDEO DESPITE EVERYONE LOVING THE HECK OUT OF IT
That’s ok! I did not like this book despite a lot of people loving it!
What? Sorry, what do you mean @ireads

I was very much yikes throughout the whole book, but the ending was TOXIC af...
This was the first fiction book I read as an adult, binged the whole series in like a week. The placement of the smut scenes is awful, and they also get really boring and repetitive after a while
💀 that sounded really bad
more lesbian tiktok voice please! 💀
I suppose there is a market for dominant male LI in books that take the acknowledgement of arousal as consent, but... No.
Fuck 2020, alright. 🔥🎄🔥
But like she isn’t even aroused half the time? He’s just like “But baby you’re too pretty too not let me have sex with you” and she’s like “oh my god you think I’m pretty”
@@alilbitmads well YIKES 😬 that would definitely help her self-esteem
Yes please, write gay fantasy smut

It seems very misleading to say there is no consent in the book when poppy has made it clear throughout that each act is something she wanted and Hawke has always waited for her go ahead to proceed.
i think our definitions of consent are very different but if you enjoyed it, power to yah 🤙🏻
@@alilbitmads can I ask what your definition of consent looks like?
Reading the book made me cringe..first who says princess nowadays??? Secondly the sexual scenes didnt make me anticipate anything because there wasnt prior build of a strong relationship... between Hawke and Poppy... the instances when he kissed her,i could say it was sexual abuse but he was putting alot.of pressure on her i didnt like it at alll
