I made these during my week off over Christmas. Played with the recipe. I found that 25 mils of Cointreau, 25 mils of fresh squeezed lemon juice and 50 mils of Brandy just worked for me. Shaken over ice, not stirred. Just tastes like Christmas 🎄 🎁🥃
Nice thanks. I was drinking these on a cruise last week. They were delicious. I didn’t want to buy brandy because I have so much bourbon. I’m gonna try it tonight we some Elijah Craig. Glad you enjoyed yours!
My favourite cocktail, I always order it at a bar when I get the chance. Its fairly uncommon and not listed as often as a Negroni, old fashioned or martini. Making it at home is a lot of fun, but I prefer Grand Marnier over Cointreau
@@myralynabrinica7431 so lucky! I started now to join in the world of cocktails, but jeez, a nice daiquiri when I was watching all the fucking Netflix series was needed. Good luck for the job!
Rumor has it that the actual sidecar legend for the drink name was an English AJS motorcycle wired with Lucas Electrics that exited the road at considerable speed in the Cognac region of France at night. Another victim of the prince of darkness and no doubt many oiled roads due to the overabundance of British powered vehicles during WW1.
Where is the sidecar? The bar I use to go to in New Orleans poured the mixture that is left in the shaker after straining into a shot glass - hence the name side car.
That’s Dale Degroff’s perspective on the naming of the drink... ..some say it was named after a regular customer that arrived in a Sidecar around WW1..but Dale thought it was more likely a reference to leftovers in the shaker.. but Harry Craddock and David Embury feature the Sidecar cocktail in their books 10-20 years prior to Dale being born and don’t believe they mention it served as a side shot..
I was told a story many years ago about American soldiers in Europe asking for these during winter WW2. The group of soldiers requesting these were on motorcycles with sidecars. The bartender named the drink accordingly. 🤷♂️
Okay I am LOST. For the Cognac he said “50 mL which is just over 3/4 of an ounce” but an ounce is basically 30 mL so really...wouldn’t it be closer to 1 2/3 of an ounce?!
These videos are incredibly useful, and I like that you don’t make them 10 minutes long. Thanks a lot!
The mixing and shaking was incredible

Pre-Smile Steve...I'll be damned
Your background is amazing!!! Very unique!! Great video! Thank you.
One of my top 3 favorites!
Mine too!
Been using brandy, and will now try Cognac next time.... Thanks for the heads up..
Cognac falls under brandy
That's some powerful shake
Just tried this with bourbon. It was amazing highly recommend a try.
Then it's not a sidecar. Sidecar only comes in Brandy or Cognac....period.
@@DJ_TRON he didn't say it was hahaha

Did you even watch it? He clearly did and not only that, but he titled it sidecar.

good job...some would add sour mix which has lemon and sugar/water syrup or add sugar rim to provide a little sweetness
I actually add about 1/2 Oz of honey to mine, not only it adds sweetness but it creates a nice foamy top 😁
Awesome!
Sidecars are under rated ngl
Cheers!
This is pre smiling through the shaking 😂

Can u use whisky if u don't have cognac
Sure, it will be a different drink though.
@@StevetheBartender_ ok ...how different
It will taste more like whisky 🥃
@@StevetheBartender_ so is best to stick with cognac then
Silly but can you convert that to ounces??
1 oz = 30ml
You said 50 mL was just over 3/4 of an ounce but I think you meant just under 1 3/4 oz
And the recipe in the video description says 60ml. Which is it Steve? Drunk minds want to know!
Small.measures.if you went to Spain or Turkey.youd get bigger portions.
Great drink
Are you getting any red flags from UA-cam for using product placement such as the brand names on the booze?
No sugar rim mate? Isn't it part of the classic Sidecar?

I love cognac. I love Cointreau. I mixed a Sidecar. Sorry but I didnt liked it. Prefere them seperetly.
Teach me how to share properly like you do
Grand marnier is cognac, right? Is this basically GM with lemon juice?
Grand Marnier is a orange liqueur made with cognac... I wouldn’t trade the cognac for Grand Marnier as it would make it very sweet..
The real recipe by henny is made with henny/grand marnier /lemon juice
The shake & stir app doesn't match this recipe. It says 50 ml Cognac, 20 mil Triple Sec, and 20 ml lemon juice. Which is right?
you didn't do the sugar rim. that's the best part of the drink.
Why didn’t he sugarcoat the rim of the coupe glass?

Lol, this is an old video... I and no one else ever noticed if the f*** up I made.. you are correct, 50mL = 1 2/3 oz
