No, you did not. It is not possible to have met the XP requirements for level 50 without having already reached the excellent-throws quota. Cute anecdote, but its shimmer is a lie.
22:22 - The easiest one to get enough XL candy for is Meltan. Once you start earning XL at LVL 31, do Meltan boxes. Because it is a Mythical, you earn a base minimum of 3 per catch.
Don't forget to mega evolve your steelix during the box. Even without a mega steelix at tier 2,£ after two solitary rotations with meltan boxes using whatever pinaps I had (around 50 in total) I've acquired over 830 candies and 490+ XLS. One Shiny, a rank 2 for little cup and a rank 2 for master League, a rank 16 for Ultra League and a rank 23 for Great League. All waiting for when I feel like investing in evolving them
Powered up my hundo Gyrados before level 47 tasks and it DID NOT give me credit for it. Meltan was the best option for this task because the XL candies were so much easier to get with the meltan box
I can 100% confirm that I was able to use Meltan for the Legendary tasks. For level 41 I powered up some level 1 Meltan for a couple hundred stardust per power up. When the Meltan got to 400 dust per power up, I moved to another low level Meltan. (Powering up a legendary that you want to power up is even less of a stardust waste, but if you don't have anything you want to power up, L1 Pokemon are cheap power ups.) For level 47 it once again makes sense to look at Meltan/Melmetal. Using Pokemon Home it is easy to get a mystery box, so you can get all the candy and candy XL you could want. Having at least one level 50 Melmetal is handy for shadow battles, raids, or GBL. Catching 5 Meltan in a row is super easy for the level 50 legendary challenge. I completed that challenge only a few weeks ago, so I can confirm that it still worked as of Easter this year (2022).
While using the mystery box to catch enough Meltan to get 296 candy XL, you should check IVs to save a Metan to evolve into Great, Ultra, and Master Melmetal. It is pretty good in all the GBL divisions. If you have spare storage space for Pokemon, you may want to save a few level 1 Melmetal for evoltions. As with Zoe's suggestion to save some shadow pokemon with cheap purifications (for tasks that require you to purify), I try to keep a few level 1 Pokemon to evolve for cheap evolutions and power ups. There's no harm in having those L1 Pokemon be legendary/mythical just in case the task says you need to power up a legendary.
You may have to hunt around for ithe option but you can release Pokemon from your free Pokemon Home account. You do NOT need to upgrade to a paid Pokemon Home account if you ONLY want to use it for getting free mystery boxes.

22:36 The best way to do this is by maxing out a pokemon to level 49.5 but you NEED to do the last power up to 50 at that level. It doesn't count even if you have 100 pokemon at level 50, you need to do at least the last power up at lvl 47. However, I would like to add one thing, powering up something to lvl 50 is a huge investment in terms of XLs and stardust. I don't think it is smart to spend 250,000 stardust on a pikachu which is useless in PVP/PVE. I powered up a 100% talonflame (from community day), sableye and a 100% last resort umbreon, and all three of these are my MVPs in GBL in their respective leagues. Finally, for the level 50 task to battle a leader with cp 2500 pokemon or less, I would suggest practicing this for fun even before you reach this level. I remember trying this with the Cliff's aerodyctl and I failed at least 50 times and then I stopped counting. I was so happy when I was finally able to beat that line up with my triple melmetal team! @@wlkrcodm4490 Firstly, like Zoë mentioned in her video, many people do not raid legendary Pokémon heavily. Candies for legendary Pokémon can be somewhat difficult to obtain. Secondly, Melmetal is a great Pokémon to invest in. It is a great pick in all 3 GBL leagues, a great option for battling gyms, and rips through many Team Rocket grunts and leaders. Lastly, play the game however YOU want. I have many level 50 Pokémon including legendaries. However, I understand for some that is not feasible, especially in the early stages of the 40’s. This video, along with my comment and the many comments from others are simply giving players tips and options. In the end, you decide how to play Pokémon Go 😃

But I made a friend whom I was able to trade with on the daily. I focused my last platinum medal on trades and trade distance (I hatched a lot of Pokémon from my antipode location. 15,000 km+ whenever I had an egg) because the rest were so much further off. Correction: for level 44, you don't need to win in gbl, you just need to battle. This was changed before it released worldwide. It was only win 20 for Australia while they were testing it
@@stephenmallon7194 you have to win for the specified league tasks but those you can do against friends, doesn't have to be GBL. The only task you have to do specifically in GBL you don't need to win

Guys, be lucky there have been changes to the level-up tasks. 25:08 it used to be 50km per week 8 times. The downside was eevees as Sylveon didn't count for not existing in the game yet.
I had XP built up to get me to 44, but then 44-45 and now 45-46 are taking a long time. If you aren't someone who already had the XP built up when they released lvl 41-50, you are almost always going to have the tasks done well before you get the XP per level. I'm currently at 11.7 of 15.5mil XP for lvl 46 - I had the 4 tasks done within getting the first couple mil XP for the level. I dare say it'll be a similar story for the remaining levels as well. The daunting thing is lvl 46 (82mil) isn't even half the total XP you need to get to 50 (176mil) - I will still need more XP to get to 50 than I have gotten in the 6yrs of playing the game!!!
add alot of friend and send them gifts all the way to 1 gift away from Best Friends, I try to get around 5-10 friends at a time and make sure they all send you the last gift and drop a lucky egg and then open all 5-10 gifts from your friends and right there you just got 200k from each friend you became best friends with when mewtwo raids started I leveled up from level 43 to 44 and I'm already at 2.7 million xp on level 44 by doing this, also do this with friends your about to hit ultra friends with pile them up drop a lucky egg and that's a easy 100k from each ultra friend
22:22 you can prep a pokemon to lvl 49 but any Pokemon that is lvl 50 before hitting the level that the task will show up at will not count. It's like having all the eevee evolutions before doing the task and that doesn't register.
One help for XP is to make sure you have a lucky egg on when you hit the 7 day streak of first pokemon caught on day 7. The yield of XP you get even if you throw a ball that isn;t great or excellent is well over 10k xp. I'm not the best at throwing excellent throws but I usually get around 15k xp.
Same goes for stardust on that same catch. You get a huge amount of both XP and Stardust on that 7th day streak catch. If you can time either with an event (weekly, Comm Day etc) that gives 3x of either, it is a ridiculous amount. example; Starly comm day, time it to be your 7th day in the streak, don't catch anything until comm day hours start, put on a lucky egg and your looking at (for an excellent catch) ~22,000 XP on that first catch!
Great video, Zoe! Tip from me: trades count toward type medals, so i used to save my dragon type (rarest from what I've seen) to trade with family to get to platinum.
Practice nailing excellent throw on meltan. That genuinely helps after the nerf to the regular incense. The box appears once every 3 days, and you get 60 meltan per box. That's almost 50000 XP everytime minus lucky egg with 85% hit rate. Most of all it's FREE
I wish I'd thought to practice excellent throws on Meltan. My 999 excellent throws took me over 2 months. Some of the spotlight hours re2lly helped. I think I got over 100 of my 999 excellent throws during Nosepass spotlight hour.
@@Anne-qk3ch It's for the people that reached level 40 in 2018/2019 which are up in the hundreds of millions. I had XP to level 45, but when getting there I had xp for level 47 (because of harsh winter conditions and raiding inside during those months before able to go out and grind catches.) There were a few in my city already above 200 million XP when level 50 dropped in December 2020. So this video is just late on that side but when she says "stack xp now" at this time of the game when level 50 have been in the game for one and a half year which is then of course focused towards players that are below level 40.
Thank you for the great tips as usual. I am working for my level 50 now. 1/2 way to my excellent throws. 🤞🏻. Glad you were able to get your bow fixed. I hope William is still doing better and that Alan is doing well. Good luck with your ✨✨ hunting. Safe travels and enjoy!
For xp: Get a mega Pokémon, of your most common type, to its max mega level. I live close to water spawns, so a mega water type gets me 100 xp extra for a lot of my caught Pokémon. Also the 12km eggs from rocket leaders give you 4000 xp when hatched.
for catching 200 Pokemon in a day, good time to clear out your research stack, and pop a Meltan box (as long as they haven't nerfed the spawn rate of that like the normal incense) would also go a good way towards the total
About 6 months ago started paying attention to all of the 2X XP opportunities and changed a lot of how I play to utilize it. In addition to some of what you advised on I focus on other things. Berries in gyms, showcases and routes. These add up. Love your videos.
I was very frustrated with the one-use name trick for a long time. I used 2 of them before we knew they were one-use. And...I now have 3 100% Vaporeon. (I can't complain, though. I've been very blessed with hundo Eevees and friends willing to mass trade Jolteon until I got a hundo to complete the set.)
Thank you Zoe for all the helpful tips/tricks in this video! Trainer Tips Nick has a really good tip for getting the max 3 pokemon to level 50, especially if you might not have a lot of xl candies (cuz xl candy was relatively new when he did this task). I gotta rewatch the video cuz I was getting sleepy when I watched, but the tip involves friends trades & helping each other out with this task...just remember it being a really good tip for the max out 3 pokemon task.
also keep in mind that most of this requirement are naturally met while grinding exp and just playing the game, only real thing to pay attention is the "do this for x days/weeks in a row"
Thanks for the video, Zoe! I’m Level 47 and definitely lamenting that I didn’t work harder towards my platinum medals! I’m going to use your suggestion of making a list before I go to Berlin!
For the buddy hearts for battle together, team leader battles (Candela, Spark, Blanche) in your battle tabs works too so no need to wait for rocket balloons etc
How I got to 1-40 by nov 2017 in low spawn area back in the day. Played daily, caught everything, mass evolves with lucky eggs. Thats all I had. Lvl 1-40 is 20 mil xp. Upper 40s is the same or more just for 1 level. Definitely work on your medals early for someone who cant play daily anymore and hit stops constantly, I am hurting on about 10 medals. Currently lvl 48.
I had a level 49 hundo Venusaur and a Gengar I had saved the final power up for prior to 46. The 47 task counted when I leveled them both up 1 time to 50.
The battle hearts for your buddies are way easier done training against the trainer of your color. Its at the bottom of the GBL lobby, you can start whenever in whatever league and run away whenever. It also counts towards the "win x games in league y" requirement, you dont need to annoy a friend or play GBL except for the "win 20 games in GBL" requirement.
you can also complete the battle hearts with your buddy by entering a training battle with Blanche, Candela, or Spark with your buddy in the party and then immediately leaving when it starts. That way you dont need to use any potions or wait through the long team rocket battle animations :)
Im level 50 now but 35 Platinum medals killed me. I dont pay that much money and i never cared about them. But i automatically completet 32 medals and just had to do 3 more. But that can be rough for some players
Hiya Zoe! Thank you so much for this video! It's extremely helpful! I'm level 42 🤩 I'm writing down a list of everything you mentioned and keeping track! Thank you again for sharing your wise knowledge 💕💕💕💕
Ps Glad to hear William is doing a bit better now & am still keeping him, Cinnamon, Alan & you in my prayers. Hopefully big boi William makes a full recovery.
Thank you for this very awesome down-to-Earth video, love it! Please do more videos like this! I laughed about the “set an alarm”, when you realized that Alan was on day 10 of a streak, and he likely was set back to start over, same just happened to us. Sending love and healing thoughts to your beautiful cat as well. Fingers crossed all goes well.
The best moment was when you were talking about Alan and PVP... "Does he even know if steel types are in the game? I don't know." I still haven't stopped laughing.
Couple of tips: 1) Having your buddy on the map, and in your fighting team, works with Training as well as Rocket thugs to get battle hearts. Just start the battle and run, or stay and win to work on the "Ace Trainer" medal. Can be done any time you want. 2) Trading also counts towards the "type" medals. Trading dual type pokemon is even more efficient. :)
Re levelling Pokémon up to max cp: no levelling up doesn’t count if done before beginning the task… however, powering up 3 Pokémon to level 49.5 beforehand means you have useful mons with a very cheap way to fulfil the task. Lucky common spawning Pokémon provides low stardust costs with an easy candy grind.
13:46 It is required only to battle 20 times in GBL at level 44. It is easy to complete. Just enter the battle and lose it. Quitting won't count. So enter with 3 low-level pokémon in your party and let your opponent win. It can be done fast and on the same day.
The super charged attack one can be done with the team leaders blanch candela. Candela users fire so take water and build up the super charged and then set off the attack but don't use it all to try and leek her Pokémon alive 2 use it against more often in say the great league. Rinse and repeat till complete.
Eevee community day helped me a ton with level 42!, nice haha I have a friend I can battle that way and go past those 30 battles in each category league I woulda never thought of that!
You can also earn a quick buddy heart for battling by entering a practice trainer battle against and backing out. Scroll to the bottom of the battle screen. Make sure your buddy's on your roster.
Level 47 21:03 For powering up to level 50, im pretty sure I levelled up a mon to about level 48 or so before I reached this level and then powered it up for the level 47 level up requirements to level 50 and it did still count towards one of the 3 needed
I really enjoyed your video-it was all of the things I learned from people over the past years all at once! I have finished the requirements for level 50 and have 14.5 million to go to get there. When I got to this level I was lucky to hit an excellent throw once a day but by concentrating on it I was done in a month. In addition to all your tips I highly recommend getting in some xp discord groups to build up friendship. The xp is incredible!
I'm currently level 39 so this is great timing for me! I was so glad when they changed it so players who are level 31+ could get XL candy. I have almost 600 XL meltan candies from hunting for my shinies
For the 2500 cp leader, i cant recommend scrafty/lucario with power-up-punch enough. It burns the shields instantly and will be boosted twice by the time you’ve gotten through their lead and you’ll be able to run through their whole team
You have to do the power up when you reach the level. I already had a few meltan at max level at that point. Meltan box is also a super easy way to get 3 max level mons as they are guaranteed 3 XL candy on each catch.
Can confirm that you have to actively max out the mons for level 47, I was unaware and did this the previous level in preparation, such a fail, now using c-days to get the required xl candy, fortunately have enough stardust.
Love the video! Just wanted to add, for battles with your buddy, you can also just use your buddy vs the team leaders (at the bottom of the GBL screen) and run away, so no need to wait for a balloon :)
I can confirm this!!! Up until this point, level 50s did NOT count. At the start, it's only NEW Level 50s that count towards this Task!!! But you can prep them - leave the Pokémon at 49.5 with only one Level UP (usually 20 Candy XL at 15,000 Stardust w/o Lucky aspect) until this Task is in front of you.
Just a tip when catching shiny non legendary pokemon you should always use pinapberrys cause shinys have almost 100% catch rate the whole time I have been playing I have had only one wild shiny escape from the first throw.
I really wish I knew they were gonna add more levels past 40 (and specifically knew about the Eevee evolve thing for 42) before I already did all the name tricks (even Sylveon) so idk what I'm gonna do when I get there (still on 40; been stuck on 40 for awhile bc I'm more of a casual player)
Pertaining to earning hearts with your buddy: you can battle the team leaders (at the bottom of the Battle tab) just like Zoe described for Rocket balloons! Great for when your Rocket Balloon isn't around (July 2022)
For getting best buddies faster, use Poffins. Walk distance is halved during the 6 hours. Hearts are doubled also. Can get best buddy in 12 days for most. So by feeding, playing and taking a snapshot, 10 hearts right away. Battle withs can be done in taking down a gym with 3 or more. Just one pass is necessary. Just restore your team. Also, battle with your buddy in training mode with a team leader. Costs no dust. Get Poffins from scanning tasks that drop from selected pokestops. Pass over other tasks that just reward balls. Better then buying them. Claim poffin and spin more stops. Can build up a nice supply in one day. Once a reward is in, no others will appear nor more scanning tasks.
I am level 46 and been playing from day one. I feel bad for saying it’s getting boring and I feel so sad about it. Everything is literally SO REPETITIVE. A constant grind just so you have to clean it all up later. Probably time to stop for a while, so I can get enthusiasm back again. Thanks for the tips anyways - I love your videos ❤️
Oh my Gosh that Meltan trick is so Big Brain... I just did it by catching because ut was easy for me to get legendary... but that is So Smart, for people who have a heard time raiding and catching legendary raids.
if your like me and have shadows you want to keep using the tag for either keepers or for the ones that are just kept for purify tasks is really nice. The daunting thing is lvl 46 (82mil) isn't even half the total XP you need to get to 50 (176mil) - I will still need more XP to get to 50 than I have gotten in the 6yrs of playing the game!!!
add alot of friend and send them gifts all the way to 1 gift away from Best Friends, I try to get around 5-10 friends at a time and make sure they all send you the last gift and drop a lucky egg and then open all 5-10 gifts from your friends and right there you just got 200k from each friend you became best friends with
when mewtwo raids started I leveled up from level 43 to 44 and I'm already at 2.7 million xp on level 44 by doing this, also do this with friends your about to hit ultra friends with pile them up drop a lucky egg and that's a easy 100k from each ultra friend
22:22 you can prep a pokemon to lvl 49 but any Pokemon that is lvl 50 before hitting the level that the task will show up at will not count. It's like having all the eevee evolutions before doing the task and that doesn't register.
I'm gonna really struggle withe eevee-lutions cuz I got them all after I hit lvl 40 😭
I had flashbacks of Cliff’s Aerodactyl when you mentioned Sierra’s difficult team.
This has been your best video, yet! Thanks!
Training in the battle tab does also count as battles if you want to level up your buddy faster
One thing to remember is that you do not have to do these things in one day. Often the XP requirement will be the bottleneck. You can take your time.
This is so true. I'm about to hit 45 and have always had the tasks done first. I'm always a little sad when it switches back to pure xp grinding.
For the buddy battle hearts you can just battle the team leaders (under battle and right down the bottom)
Level 47 - Meltan is an easy one to level to 50 if you have a good one. Each catch gives you 3xl candy.
For the maxing out 3 pokemon to level 50 quest, meltan and melmetal are very easy to get XL candy for with the mystery box
Thanks Zoe, great tips, you always have great idea. I need another “how to manage my Pokémon storage” video tips. 👍
As a newly level 40 player, this is very helpful🙂
for catching 200 Pokemon in a day, good time to clear out your research stack, and pop a Meltan box (as long as they haven't nerfed the spawn rate of that like the normal incense) would also go a good way towards the total
Love the video. I was early in level 44 when I realized the catch medals count 😅
Great video Zoë! I’m handicapped by stardust at each level but you task tips are on point. Thanks!
4:14 Meltan and Melmetal also count towards this challenge and its much easyer to get candy for them.
I’m level 44. Returned in july of 2020 and was lvl 32 then so I’ve been slaughtering my way to 44😂
For levelling Pokemon to lv. 50, what I did was level them to 49 and wait to reach the level of the requirement then make them lv. 50
Battling against Candela, Blanche, and Spark also can be used to get hearts for battling with the buddy
Ps Glad to hear William is doing a bit better now & am still keeping him, Cinnamon, Alan & you in my prayers. Hopefully big boi William makes a full recovery.
Thanks for this video. I saved it. Level 37 right now and working on medals now.
Yes! Meltan works for the 5 legendaries task. I used it, myself.
13:46 It is required only to battle 20 times in GBL at level 44. It is easy to complete. Just enter the battle and lose it. Quitting won't count. So enter with 3 low-level pokémon in your party and let your opponent win. It can be done fast and on the same day.
For the buddy battles you can just do them with the team leaders on the battle page
The super charged attack one can be done with the team leaders blanch candela. Candela users fire so take water and build up the super charged and then set off the attack but don't use it all to try and leek her Pokémon alive 2 use it against more often in say the great league. Rinse and repeat till complete.
You don't have to use rocket battles for the battle heart, you can use the team leaders. Which means any time of the day
Thank you for this video as it is very detailed and probably took you sometime to put this together. You're awesome Zoë!
Eevee community day helped me a ton with level 42!, nice haha I have a friend I can battle that way and go past those 30 battles in each category league I woulda never thought of that!
Thanks so much for this. I've only been playing for about a year and just started Lvl 43!!
Thank you for taking the time for all this information 🙏
You can also earn a quick buddy heart for battling by entering a practice trainer battle against and backing out. Scroll to the bottom of the battle screen. Make sure your buddy's on your roster.
Level 47 21:03
For powering up to level 50, im pretty sure I levelled up a mon to about level 48 or so before I reached this level and then powered it up for the level 47 level up requirements to level 50 and it did still count towards one of the 3 needed
This is an awesome video, extremely helpful. You provided details I had not heard before, thank you so much.
I'm currently level 39 so this is great timing for me! I was so glad when they changed it so players who are level 31+ could get XL candy. I have almost 600 XL meltan candies from hunting for my shinies
I love the tips and tricks, alway great to watch your vids!
For the 2500 cp leader, i cant recommend scrafty/lucario with power-up-punch enough. It burns the shields instantly and will be boosted twice by the time you’ve gotten through their lead and you’ll be able to run through their whole team
Thank you for all the details! I’m level 41 and this video is perfect for preping for the journey ahead.
Great video dude
You can do buddy battles with the trainer in the battle menu at the bottom for hearts join and leave 3x instead if waiting for a rocket person
Thank you very much. Very informative. Enjoy your trip. Be safe.
Love the video! Just wanted to add, for battles with your buddy, you can also just use your buddy vs the team leaders (at the bottom of the GBL screen) and run away, so no need to wait for a balloon :)
for level 44 as far i remember you don't need to win in GBL just complete 20 matches, set a team with 10cp pokemon and let the opponent win
On the Level 47 requirements: You can't. You need to power up the pokémon when you arrive to this stage.
My fiancee just did the catch 5 legendary in a row last week for the level 50 challenge and he said Meltan counts for that!
Just got to level 40 on the second day of go fest and got 5 million xp and also completed the 4 tasks. Exp grind time :(
for buddy hearts you can start a battle and run away from leaders of mystic, valor, and instinct found at the bottom of the battle page.
Just a tip when catching shiny non legendary pokemon you should always use pinapberrys cause shinys have almost 100% catch rate the whole time I have been playing I have had only one wild shiny escape from the first throw.
I really appreciate your advice. This has been massively helpful. I'm level 31 as of now. Gonna work upwards from there
I really wish I knew they were gonna add more levels past 40 (and specifically knew about the Eevee evolve thing for 42) before I already did all the name tricks (even Sylveon) so idk what I'm gonna do when I get there (still on 40; been stuck on 40 for awhile bc I'm more of a casual player)
Once a reward is in, no others will appear nor more scanning tasks.
runaway battles works with training to get hearts with the buddy too, dotn need a rocket balloon
As for Level 50 for the 5 in a row Legandaries, you can do it with Meltan Box
Level 42 and counting.
Thanks for this helpful vid
I am level 46 and been playing from day one. I feel bad for saying it’s getting boring and I feel so sad about it. Everything is literally SO REPETITIVE. A constant grind just so you have to clean it all up later. Probably time to stop for a while, so I can get enthusiasm back again. Thanks for the tips anyways - I love your videos ❤️
Oh my Gosh that Meltan trick is so Big Brain... I just did it by catching because ut was easy for me to get legendary... but that is So Smart, for people who have a heard time raiding and catching legendary raids.
you do this with an infectious conviction, Zoë. Resistant Like a GeoDude!
Good news for Level 48: The Buddy Souvenir requirement is now only 10 = )
You can also do the battle trick with your trainer, that was fixed, it works the same as with a team rocket member.
if your like me and have shadows you want to keep using the tag for either keepers or for the ones that are just kept for purify tasks is really nice. I also have a tag for the 3 im saving to max out i chose melmetal, machamp and glacion all pokemon that are eay to get candy for and are ery useful in rocket or raid battles
