That trim looks horrible on wood. And it doesn’t look like it fits or like he even tried to center it. Other than that, the blade looked pretty good.
Though crowd, that's why he was covering the end with his thumb.
None of these restorers seem to be able to deal with the scales. They don't understand they're not handles and the weight needs to be kept low.
The idea was solid for this one... But yeesh, it didn't turn out great. Unsealed wooden pieces on a bathroom accessory, not gonna last long at all.
you kinda ruined the whole object...
Wow I can't believe KipKay is still making videos. This channel is what got me interested in electronics. I'm glad it's still around (:
you ruined a good piece
This all would have looked far better with some darker wood or if what was used was stained, it would have brought out the brass far more.
That name trim was definitely off center and is killing my ocd. Other than great job as usual
Nothing like brittle brass trim and sharp angles nuts and bolts to mess up your grip when using a razor you poorly edged and stropped wrong.
The wood is a nice option to replace degraded cellulose material, the trim is obviously hard to fit onto the wood, but much better than it being chucked away! You could try applying a layer of epoxy resin over the wood and trim to give it a smoother look. Nice vids kipo! 👍
does anyone else hear the echo? its like the auditorium setting in realtek audio
i was wondering the same thing lol, i defiantly hear it
The original scale was still quite good, some rust but not cracks, with a good cleaning it was possible to save it.
What is the purpose of using the leather strop in a razor that is not honed?
I really like this new series overall, but I'm kinda disappointed with the choice to replace the plastic with plywood. Even if it would've caused some rust over time, I think the end product would have been a lot better if you left the scales like they were.
Jay Absolutely right! he could have cleaned up and reused the original scales, keeping it original and much more visually appealing. If rust was the issue with the handles, just apply a light coat of clear lacquer to the inside of the scales to seal them from off gassing. Just sayin'.
Those trims are ruined my guy.
no one says my guy...
There is echo in the audio ..
Really happy with your new series.. reminds me of the early days of Kipkay.. really wish you the very best, this channel needs to be on top, where it should be..
But we can't forget the "as Seen on TV" stuff too that saved my wallet and I finally stipend buying trash too😊👍
This is a restoration only KipKay could have done...
oof
please start using epoxy you could of made epoxy resin scales with that same pearl white so the wouldve looked identical to the origional scales then actually epoxied the trim them into them and actually restored this into a brand new better version of what it was! but the wood not even remotely being fitted right to the trim and the super glue not being taken off the logo name drove my ocd nuts. again im not the guy doing this project so i have no say in what you do but it would really take your finished product from a dud to a absolute 10. maybe try redoing this in a follow up video with epoxy scales!
Somebody restore kipkay so he can make good videos again
The restoration process was oh so satisfying as always. However when you glued the final piece of trim, aka the cherry on top, and it was way way off center. Oh my god I think I had a brain aneurism it hurt soo bad.
It’s so nice seeing you make videos again I feel like your channel went through a rough patch but kipkay is back 💪🏼
Love these restoration videos its inspired me to restore the stuff I find while magnet fishing
Looked like a fun project! Glad to see you had fun 🤙🏼
Not so good restoration tho
Weird, I just recently got obsessed with traditional wet shaving recently! ;D
BigVinnie wet shaving my butthole rn
Dodger Why would you say that
@@dodger9385 prove it
Coming back to your channel after I guess 5 years!? I'm glad you're still at it the same way!! Love your work! ❤️
Restoration videos don't require talking
Beautiful job sir🏴
Good work man!
Really inspiring videos to *reuse instead throw away* things.
Greets from Italy!
How much of the original do you need remaining in order to call it a restoration rather than upcycling?
Apparently barely any...
Came out great kip!
Dang dude you made it worse.
Hahahahhahahhhahhhahah agreed
Very fun project. Just wish I had the time in the day to commit to something
How does this guy have 2.58 million subscribers?
Watching you since 2006 keep going dude
Don't mind the comments kip, i liked this project alot and im glad you enjoyed restoring the shaving razor!! Can't wait for the next video
What do u do with everything u restore?
based on this video, he probably throws them away.
I have one of these, albeit really rusted as bad if not worse, in my knife collection I got from my grandfather. I need to do this and fix these knives up.
Because of your channel I now take rusty and beaten up babies home from my local firearms auctions that nobody else wants to love or take care of.. hopefully some day i have the time and motivation to do them some justice like you always do to these pieces
Sorry but that result is horrible...Wood is not a good material for it.
I have one question is the steal stainless?
Razor blades can't be made of stainless steel because you could not get them sharp enough.
@@JokklMaster I didn't know that thanks
at last Kipkays arm i complete again
Been years! Glad to be back!
that wasnt restoring, renovating
Brilliant stuff but can i just ask the as seen on TV stuff...yeah is that returning any time soon just asking.
Edit: I just ea t to say if I ever needed a Restauration job I would pay you any money you requested and gave yiu all the resources you needed too😊💯💯👍
Today i have learnt the word scales.
Can you restorea sword Please
Amazing!!! I follow you since alarm clock ultra loud!!!!! Regarts from argentina!!!
Bring back the experiments or science projects
I have seen a lot of videos on restoring matchbox cars and hot wheels , maybe you can give it a go . I have tried it it is great.
i believe he has done something like this using powder coating.
Awesome 🙃
Why not make pin again?
:0 kinda epic doh
Why knock the razor. I use a straight razor as my daily driver. It's great. Btw. That razor looked terrible. You can do better than that.
Stop watching his stuff if you don't like it. Keep at it bro!!
Hey
Hi kip
Hi
Should have cleaned up the original scales, and kept it as original as possible. Blade would be fine with some cameila oil on it - won't rust due to the scales.
This would be a disgrace to Carl Monkhouse. All that trouble to remove the brass for what exactly? Not only did you use an end grinder on a straight razor but you ground and sanded it the wrong direction. Should've left the original scales on it and gave it an honorable burial in the yard.
There was a barber and his wife...
I miss u kip
Not your best restore but is not as bad as people are commenting
Yep, you completely destroyed that straight
yo
But you did not show the edge restoration, the most important piece.
Great video! Glad you're back!
I'm sorry Kip...this "restoring" thing isn't for you. I don't thing you have the patience to do it right. The original handle was really nice and it just looks like a polished turd now. Who cares if the plastic causes rust. If you maintain the blade on a regular basis it's a non issue.
This is a retrofit, not a restoration.
Cool video 😎 just wondering if you could make tutorial how to turn on a computer?
man... i used to remember you when you'd come up with hacks no one else had done. I know, it's a crowded market.
But really? I should feel obligation to stay subscribed if what you're presenting me is taking some rust off metal? Hmm...
I miss his hacks
Am I the only one who can hear a massive echo
How did this video get 1k likes?
Ruined a good piece of shaving gear. This could have been brought back to life. Ruined!
why you sound like Drumsy
Amazing!
This was a straight up good video, that kept me on the edge.
Restore or “restore”
Hate to say it but this one was definitly a dud , the wood was a bad choice . The nuts and bolts were a worse choice . But the trim really tops the fail , doesnt match the wood , you diddnt inlay it and you barley even tried to to pretend to get it straight or centered in any way . You can definitly do much much better
Yikessss
It looked better then Original. Keep up good work.
oyeee mateee fix your mic or get a new one..cant take that echo feels like im playing with some randos in call of duty!!!
yeet
That blade had some major celluloid rot. not worth restoring not to mention the poxy look
You have lower the value of the product.
What you have done in this video has made it lose value.
How you restored it has lost it's value.
It is now worth nothing.
Chris Murdoch like he was gonna sell it
Wooden handle really worst part of this video, look at the original, you should have come up with some thing similar, wooden handle spoil entire look!
That razor looked absolutely terrible! You didn’t restore it! You made it look even worse! None of the trim fit properly and the scales look absolutely horrible! I’m very disappointed in this video! Need to redo it!
Looks like garbage
Can i get a pin? Or a like? Kipkay i have been a fan since day one!
Blades rust because they are metal not because you think the original handle caused it.
You are terrible and completely destroyed this supposed antique
Ruined it.
Based on this presenter’s style, i stopped watching and killed the feed, thumbs down.👎
The original handle was just fine until you soaked it in solvents to remove the accent pieces and you completely ruined the piece when you made knock off parts to replace the original parts of the handle that you ruined.
75 year of piece of junk now thanks to your terrible restoration
the handle was what was causing the rust celluloid off gassing
