    I inherited this exact BB gun from my Dad when I was a kid. Mine wasn't powerful at all either, and sometimes it even shot two BB's at once. It was pretty accurate for how weak it was. I don't know the velocity but I used to scare pigeons out of our back yard with it without killing them. It would barely dent a can. My neighbors probably wondered why all the pigeons hung out at their houses but none at mine. Especially when they all had owl decoys. Way less scary to a pigeon than being shot at lol

      He didn't replace the rubber plunger, or the mainspring. Also he didn't show if he cleaned out and resurfaced the cylinder where the plunger moves back and forth. And I never saw him lubricate either the cylinder or the plunger, or clean the inside of the shot tube/barrel. All he really showed was refinishing the gun, not restoring it mechanically.

    When I was growing up my grandfather had a gunstock factory here in Missouri where he made stocks for many pellet rifles and BB guns. I still remember the room where they stained and shellacked the stocks. I remember my grandfather going to work. He walked out the front door and crossed the street and he was there. Small town life.

      Also,... if he needs a new seal he can basically just replace it with one of those wool mounts they use to mount music symbols on stands for drum kits. If he carefully cuts it to size.

      @alvinmorris5404 2 роки тому

      The model 99 is a low power air rifle that is meant for shooting paper targets at 12 yards usually indoors mine when new out of the box was no more powerful than his in the video the only real way to make it more powerful is to swap out the original spring for a stronger one. if you swap out the spring then have to be more diligent about lubrication because a heavier spring will wear the plunger and seal quicker as well as the sear and trigger

    How did you release the plunger assembly from the barrel? Did you use that tool to compress it, then bend the retainer and remove the retainer clip from the exterior of the barrel? I am looking for the easiest (safest) way to handle the spring assembly.
    Thanks for the video. It is difficult to find for the models with that action.

    Uhhhh,.... you just gotta oil it to fire properly. That wool pad basically is the seal. It’s designed to absorb the oil to create the seal. There’s a pinhole at the top for apply oil periodically and you oil in the little space between the receiver and the hinge for cocking arm. I just use regular motor oil. I find 5w-30 to be too thin though, so maybe a little heavier oil like 10w-30 or maybe 10w-40 for the seal, and use the However be aware if you get too much oil, especially if thinner oil, slipping into where the shot tube connects it can cause it to sort of auto firing multiple bbs at a time, and sometimes even premature discharging when cocking it, and potentially a barrel jam or damage to the barrel attached to the shot tube. I just use a syringe to apply oil to the respective spots. Make sure you saturate the seal from the hole really well with the oil. That seal looks fine,... it just needs oil.

    If you can find them put some silicone oil on the seals and the pistol seal might be leather due to the date it was made so see if it could be replaced with a modern synthetic seal which would last longer and don't forget to put some silicone oil to that too! And you could put some grease on the spring and piston but I think some general lubricant would work fine.

    It's quite anemic. It should easily penetrate the can at that distance. The seals are probable a big part of the problem. If they dry out you lose a lot of power. Those guns usually have a port to oil the seals. That and cleaning out the barrel will probably help a lot.
