From the two novels I've read from Dazai which include (no longer human) and (the setting sun) yes they are depressing but I quite enjoyed them because how raw they are. Because what he's conveying in his writing is true. We all feel like we are falling apart and failing. So we struggle until we find peace and our meaning in life. That's a huge part of being human. Accepting all our flaws and ugly traits, because if we don't we'll never be able to fix them.
A lot of vocalists know how to change the way they sing to show emotions in their voice. A great example of that is the songs of Yorushika, but while Rachie's covers are absolutely divine, I recommend listening to the original songs in Japanese instead. Suis, the vocalist for the duo of Yorushika, is practically a master at doing exactly what I've described, reflecting the singer's mood and intention in her delivery. 'Hole in the heart' and especially 'That's why I gave up on music' are some of her best performances in my opinion, entirely because of her delivery. For instance, I wanted to sing 'Ready for This' from Hazbin Hotel, and change the song to keep it in the same tone it has in the beginning, how it reflects slowly building confidence. Sing it to myself as a way to tell myself that I can handle whatever I'm facing. If I wanted to sing that for someone else, and truly sell how I feel in that moment, I might make my vocal chords or even my whole body tremble a bit on certain lines, since that would reflect in my delivery, to sell the uncertainty I'm feeling.

At first I thought it was just a really cute song until I took a better listen at the lyrics and dang it hit me hard. I really like songs like this... and I really have no idea why I like songs that make me cry. This is so beautiful. When the song got sadder in the middle I started tearing up. This cover is absolutely beautiful.
As someone who bought the book metamorphosis because of this song, i feel like once you read into the deep meaning of the book and the song it really hits hard. I don't feel like typing it out so heres it in a nutshell: When he wakes up, Gegor discovers hes become a cockroach, the longer he stays one, the less human he becomes, he cant speak after only a few minutes of being one, but he can always understand everyone. He cant bare to eat his favorite foods anymore. His father and mother cant bare to look at him or even go in his room, so his sister goes into his room to get him his food. Eventually everyone begins to ignore Gregor, once his father tried to kill him when he left his room. Gregor was the worker of the family, and he did all the work so his family could live in luxury, but now since he cant eork anymore his family is forced to start working, they eventually all begin to resent Greogor for dragging them down, and no longer take care of him, his sister throwing whatever leftovers they have left in his room (regardless of whether he likes them or not) then takes it out with a broom, not even stepping foot into his room. When Gregor finally dies they all rejoice and are happy, convincing themselves that that cockroach was not Gregor and that Gregor must have mysteriously vanished. Gregor could hear his family talking about him before his death and eventually decided it was best he die. The whole thing is really sad despite the beginning having a bit of comedy. The book is a metaphor for Gregor who got seriously ill from overworking and was bedridden, his family eho got used to being spoiled by his riches, were suddenly thrown into work and eventually began to resent him, and were relieved and very happy once he died. You can find another comment that goes into the songs details bc i cant be bothered.
Both songs were made by the same producer so, I guess that's why. But they may sounds similar it's better to respect these songs as what they are and not compare them :> Just my opinion tho
