i hate shein and i don't think there's any justification for buying from them, but honestly, if it comes down to shien or amazon, i think it's better to buy clothes from shein. they're a menace, but at least they're only a menace in one industry. meanwhile amazon has already monopolized countless industries, and it's horrible to watch them scramble to own the clothing industry as well.
I’m so glad you touched on Amazon influencers! That is one that I was surprised to see in this day and age, like c’mon yall I thought we knew better 😔😔
Honestly, people hate on H&M and stores like that, but Amazon stuff is way worse. CBC Marketplace, a Canadian business channel here on UA-cam, looked at Amazon knock offs that were literally toxic! High levels of lead and mercury, often in things like purses and even toys. It's not worth it at all, especially considering that people who are horribly underpaid have to work with these dangerous materials. And for what? Jumping on a trend that will last a month or two?
16:40 THIS PART!! People feel soooo entitled to owning specific items that they justify buying knock-offs and/or fast fashion, when probably most of them could very well afford to buy the original design. But that would mean consuming less and maybe get fewer items every year and that's a liberty many people still struggle to give up.
Your dupe vs knockoff thoughts hit the nail RIGHT on the head, I couldn’t agree more. Thrifting will have you finding items that are so high quality, amazon is NOT it. Every other point you made is also spot on, great vid as always. Sending you well wishes and good health for your last few weeks (days?) of pregnancy ❤❤❤❤
As a fashion stylist, I always advise my clients to buy secondhand instead of shopping on Shein or Amazon, but I'm always met with the excuse "why would I want to buy something someone else already wore" and I'm like "why would you want to buy something made by someone in a sweatshop who's most likely being overworked and underpaid?"
Also people think it’s disgusting to wear something used, where as shein clothing has so much chemicals and factory dirt in it that it is way more safer to wear something used that has been washed a couple times
@@kennyb1588 Buying secondhand is more ethicall and sustanible. Sure, it could still have been made in an unethicall way, however buying a product from the thriftstore instead of shein/amazon means that you won't support the fast fashion brand in any direct way.

Multiple companies have even started to resell returned items of theirs as “second hand” and promote it as more sustainable and then they go and continue the same production methods. Plus a lot of items from thrift stores end up in landfills or burned. thrifting really isn’t the solution everyone thinks it is. Is thrifting helping? Maybe but it’s doing absolutely nothing in terms of stopping unethical production all its doing is cutting out the middle man who doesn’t care because they’ve already made their profit off the items being resold
i find it so weird that the adidas sambas are trending cause as a brazilian i'm used to seeing my brother and basically every guy wearing that to play football so it's weird to see people using casually, but it's a cute shoe
It's so funny because for the Mirror Palais Amazon ''dupe'' situation, the designer of the dress was talking about how that knockoff really upset him and that you don't ever NEED designer knockoffs and that he actually loves seeing people go out and thrift and/or make their own version of it for a dupe instead! Truly hate Amazon fashion
The dupe vs. knockoff segment was SPOT ON. It's not even exclusive to fashion, it's happening to small businesses who do ceramics, home decor, and crochet work-just things that take so much time, effort, and craftsmanship. People will find a knockoff and immediately blow it up on Tiktok or something and it's really disappointing to see hundreds if not thousands of sales on the fake's product listing.
the buttondown trend is also cursed for me as someone w small boobs. I think it’s for a very particular set of body types for it to give the casual/chic vibe. i’ve learned to pay attention to how people are standing in their pics and if it’s really awkward it’s probably not fitting them that well either!
thats such a good idea omg. I really think the type of fabric makes a big difference too, vintage ones often have viscose or silk in and hang really nicely but modern ones are often like a cotton polyester blend and have that weird crumpled paper vibe about them
Guys, you just need to find the right shape (I get it's hard but they do exist). You may simply need an oversized unstructured one, and I don't mean any size L, but one made oversize intentionally. Also, button downs have to be good quality and material, otherwise they are very noticeably ugly/not fitting.
Completely agreed about Amazon fashion. I bought a dress from them and it literally felt like it was made out of a dollar store plastic tablecloth. And most of the time it's not even that good of a deal! Much prefer shopping from the thrift store.
i remember really wanting the little nylon prada bag when it was trending back in 2020. I literally just thrifted a similar black bag and I still have and wear it. The funny part is that I don't even like the prada bag anymore but I still like my thrifted one lol

it's so ironic that people buy the knock offs but when they arrive they look so obviously ill fitting. & yeah lol, to me buying clothing on amazon would feel like buying it from the DIY/electricals/supplies shop somehow.. plus I don't know if you can even return it if its coming from a distributor in the far east
I literally found your channel on Monday and I’ve practically watched every video old and new and you my new favourite UA-camr ever!!! I have spent all week talking about fashion with my friends from your inspiration and I’d loved every second.
for me personally im never wearing low waisted jeans again unless the alternative is being naked. the lowest rise ill go is maybe one inch below my belly button and even then im like what the hell am i doing. i feel like my buttcrack is always out, low rise pants are not sitting pants for me lol. i can maybe do a low rise maxi skirt but its gotta be the right occasion
Finding a real dupe at the thrift store is so much more rewarding than buying a fake! It also most likely will lead you to finding other great things that you may not even be looking for. Also there’s the whole concept of “saving money” on the fake but you’ll go broke trying to “save money”. i.e. your Amazon “dupes” will fall apart exponentially faster than the original, and you’ll eventually spend the money on the original or keep wasting your money on a replacement of the fake LOL which creates so much waste
i personally perfer platform everything, I tend to dress pretty masculine and i feel like platform sneakers esp help balance out that vibe. I also am 5'3" and absolutley hate being short hahah
I see what u mean about platform being unnecessary sometimes and being less timeless but what I love with my platform converse is that I can actually wear them out for more than 3 hours without the bottoms of my feet aching bc they have better cushion compared to standard chucks.
i'm a self-proclaimed chunky shoe lover so when the platform uggs came out and i didn't love them i realized the trends have gone too far 😀 i still like that platform versions exist as options because i think they balance out more skimpy and/or skin-tight bottoms so well... but really, they're everywhere at this point, so people are gonna get tired of looking at them soon
I was debating to myself whether to go for the uggs platform or the regular ones since I see many fashionista slaying the platform ones but now I’m clear after seeing ur video. I should think to use it for many years to come..real facts!😶
The AirPod Max opinion is the correct opinion. I see so many people making it their personality after they get them too. Like, cool you spent $500, I could have had a shopping spree at the thrift. 😂 AND the dupe versus knock off, I now have a better way to explain it! 💖💖💖💖💖
okayyyyy i understand the platform thing, but i just can't help but wear them all the time. Im a short person and i love wearing long(?) clothing and baggy outfits, like oversized knits and straight or wide leg pants and stuff. If i dont wear platforms i feel like im being swallowed by the fabric and i look all sad and frumpy, like you said, but with the platforms it helps balance everything, at least on my body type
Thank you so much, for taking about fast fashion and copy’s . I feel like not many UA-cams or Instagrams talk about it. It is crazy that so many of them are supporting Amazon and Shein.
I got the Sony whxm... headphones a year ago, so just a few months before they started trending so hardcore, but I love them so much and can't recommend enough. As a college student and a COMMUTER they help me focus so well and are SO comfortable. the pads are leather-y too so I just wipe them off after the gym unlike the apple ones.
girl you got me at the airpod max 🙈 I've been inbetween be getting those or the Sony ones (which I know are better) But I have apple cash that could cover the airpod max so that's why I was debating it. However, you really made a good point- so I will be saving my cash for something else! Hahaha. loved the video!
just found you and subbed. your outlook on fashion is such a breath of fresh air in a sea of microtrend obsession 😹 happy to find someone interested in STYLE over hundreds of "aesthetics"
I picked up the black Manchester Sambas and they're soo comfortable. I also got the Reebok vintage obes for Black Friday and the Sambas were 40 off. I love both pairs
I went crazy buying button downs this summer so I def loved them this year lol. I am also on the look out for a cargo maxi skirt since I think they would work in my wardrobe really well!
The platform shoes, finally someone said it!! I love a platform on certain styles like docs but it seems like every brand is trying to take an original like converse or uggs and make them platform when it just doesn't make sense to me
Got an Airpod Max dupe from this brand called Medion for a tenth of the price, because I like the look and for 60€ I'm not expecting the best sound, but so far I couldn't be happier with them
Haha I agree with you on literally all of the love AND hate opinions. Think I’ll start pushing the term “knockoff” again bc it helps get the message across that it’s a negative thing to buy it. We can do better!!!
i saw a trend prediction video recently that said they think cell phone straps worn as a bag will be a thing soon and here you are with a cellphone bag strap ❤ you always nail the trends!!!!
I have a theory that button downs don’t look good on any one and they only look good posed in the Pinterest photos. Especially the oversized untucked way that is trendy rn. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen someone wear them in real life the way they’re styled on social media anyway (I’m not talking about them styled for like a business or office setting)
They look good if you have the right proportions. If you're on the thin side with a long neck and a defined waist, they look good. Even if you're not that thin, but have a long neck they look nice.
I couldn't agree more with you, I hate the Shein and Amazon hype, it's so crazy how people are so willing to consume anything just to stay on trend. Living for rager Laini!
i agree with most of what you said except for the low waisted jeans thing lol i think no jeans are comfortable and it's just a matter of fit regardless of the rise. like baggier high waisted jeans that fit you on the waist sitting down are just as comfortable as baggy low waisted jeans (still not comfortable tho bc they're jeans). and ik that 100% cotton jeans are like "better" and more durable BUT god damn. the stretchier the jean the more comfortable
Most sneakers as platforms I can’t get behind, but chunky white sneakers specifically with platforms? I love them. I’ve been wanting to (thrift) fila disruptor wedges forever and I will someday.
i love my platform converse bc they add an inch to my height and i don’t think they look that different from the normal version. but i agree that platform uggs are bad 😳
Same, I love my platform converse (kpop made me buy the run star hike ones) but weirdly that's about it, I don't really like when the platform is too big or seems meaningless. On boots, heels, sneakers, loafers and uggs too. I'm sorry but as Laini said the platform uggs look goofy😭😭 especially the ultra minis lol
I LOVED this video! I agreed so much about the platforms lol I even fell for the trend and now regret it. Also, makes me so happy to see you still have the Gucci bag I sent you 🤍 Thank you for shouting out my shop!
I had THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE BUTTON DOWN! I’m a c/d cup and short, even though I’m a size 4 I look kind of mid size because my face is round. The frumpiness is the SLEEVES. If it’s not drop shoulder or like, too wide at the sleeves you look frumpy. The devil is in that detail, tailor to your liking.
Okay… HEAR ME OUT! I was SUCKED into the converse trend after seeing it online, in person, and also my younger sister has like 6 pairs so I caved and bought myself a pair for my birthday this year, I love them!! I have the Lugged ones in Black/white and they are my go-to shoe now. But I definitely get what you’re saying, shoes that aren’t meant to be platform look so weird to me, like the Ugg’s or the Crocs 😬. Also, what you said about the dupes vs the knockoffs was so spot on!! It’s crazy to think that Amazon fashion influencer are promoting things like that, you can literally buy things from like Zaful from Amazon; different color same font (idk if that makes sense 😂)
I do like the apple headphones (I don’t own them), but for me the reason that I like them is the they have the minimal design and that they would match it my desk set up. (If anyone knows of any minimal apple pink wireless headphones please tell me where to get them)
Platforms have been a game changer for me. I have super small feet for my height so plaforms and chunky lug soles help a lot in making my body look more proportional. But I do agree that not everything needs to be platformed.
about the airpods max i get it but also I own them and they are just like every other noise cancelling headphones (i used to have these beats by dre for like 5 years previously and then just regular wired earphones) but i dont think its like a status thing, maybe thats just me but i honestly just got them cause they were cute, i liked the look of them and they looked sleek, not an headphones pro nor do i care that much but i had the extra money and needed a new pair, i feel like its the same argument as getting a designer bag. do you need it? no, there are countless of good quality bags for a fraction of the price but you like them and you are fortunate to have the money to buy it so you do.
That was a lot of fun to listen to. And yes, Amazon should be the retailer of last resort, like if you can’t find it locally. Horrible labor practices in their warehouses and deliveries.
I like platforms depending on the shoe too.. I think they are a little high maintenance at times.. like I have to wear specific socks and I can’t wear them on days with lots of walking. I am concerned my docs are not going to wear in like my originals I had for 8 years.. because of the sizing and I think the leather is different. But I like chunkier shoes in general cause I’m curvier with small feet. I feel like it balances me out..
I am too embarrassed to wear my airpod maxes in public, but they were a gift and I love them a lot. 😵💫 I also really like the look of them, into 'cyber' fashion, but i have rarely seen a pair of over the head earphones that I didn't like! I'm hoping when they drop in price they will be like the iwatch, a lot of people will have them, and they will feel more comfortable to be seen in.
i’m not a huge fan of platform everything, but personally i love the platform converse. they’re more cushioned and comfortable, and as someone who’s kinda short i feel like they look better on me. whenever i wear the classic converse i feel like i look so much shorter
I love how you explain why you dislike something! And you give alternatives, how the icky vibe can be avoided. I love how you word your thoughts. Would love to see a video about ONLY things you dislike and why precisely. Love you😘
there is somewhat of a platform samba adidas sells called the samba rose and it’s a slightly platformed version but still very cute. i love wearing mine !
I agree with most thing except the AirPod maxes! I don’t think it’s embarrassing to wear them at all especially bc I didn’t pay they were a gift 💝 I don’t think I ever look at what someone is wearing and think it’s embarrassing
I'm so early 🥺 I got the silver virsa bag a year ago after seeing it in your videos and it's my most-worn bag now! It's big, but not huge and I can fit my laptop in comfortably. Wearing it to uni everyday now!
Does somebody know where the first maxi skirt picture is from? I am IN LOVE with the skirt but I don’t know the influencer nor the brand so please help 😢💖
Laini I loved and agree with all of these, but as a 4’11 tiny gal, I have to say that platforms are my life! LOL however, I do agree that they are not always necessary in every shoe or timeless. Once they’re not trendy, they will look kind of awkward unless they’re part of your personal style and you have always loved them. Also, very much agree about the button downs for us girls who have bigger boobs. I have 4 in my closet that I haven’t worn since I thrifted them… I want to love and style them so much, but I just can’t figure out how to without looking frumpy. If you ever have time again for a styling video after baby girl, maybe this could be a good video idea? :) just pitching ideas hehe. Lastly! What brand is your green jacket? I’ve been looking for one in that exact green and it’s so hard to find! Maybe I can look on a second hand website and find a similar one? Would you please share the brand with us? 🥺
I sooo agree on the button down thing, love them on other people, I own a few, but hate them on me. for me, though, I think it's more of a collar thing, just not a big fan of collars on me b/c I think it looks weird idk. loved this vid!! ur my fave fashion UA-cam girly
tbh i just don't look good in low profile shoes because of how my legs are built (thick thighs - skinny ankles) so i don't think i can give up the platform just yet BUT i will say i'm over platform sneakers, much prefer a good chunky leather shoe (e.g. doc martens) for now!
i hope this is okay to ask but does anyone have bag recs like the one at 4:42? i have been looking for months for one like it but haven’t found one that i really like.
Finally somebody who likes lower rise jeans. High waisted jeans are also very uncomfortable to me (constantly get stomach aches from wearing them even if the waist is roomy) and I also just hate the feeling of jeans over my belly.
aren't the "sambarose" adidas shoes sambas with a platform? :D had to think about these when u mentioned you would lose your mind if a platform samba would come out
I agree 1000% with the Amazon fashion issue! It makes me so sad that people are buying cheap knockoffs and lining a billionaire’s pocket instead of thrifting things that are quality made and will last for years. Agree with your thoughts on Apple headphones too. What a weird and needlessly expensive style choice. Maxi skirts forever!

I love the idea that nothing is trendy bc everything is. would love to see someone try their hardest to look “unstylish”
AND the dupe versus knock off, I now have a better way to explain it!
💖💖💖💖💖
okayyyyy i understand the platform thing, but i just can't help but wear them all the time.
I love honest pregnant laini❤️ you’re not a hater you’re just speaking about your opinion in a very refreshing honest way loveeee
I love hearing your perspective on things even if I don’t fully agree with it, you have such good insight tho
I just got the Sony headphones and they’re honestly so cute, functional, and half the price of the apple ones… no regrets!!
Good call
I've been wanting the Apple Airpod Maxes so badly and this humbled me thank you
i saw a trend prediction video recently that said they think cell phone straps worn as a bag will be a thing soon and here you are with a cellphone bag strap ❤ you always nail the trends!!!!
!!!!!
nah they look good on me :P
They look good if you have the right proportions. If you're on the thin side with a long neck and a defined waist, they look good. Even if you're not that thin, but have a long neck they look nice.
They look good on me 😭 and im 5 flat and not thin
Great theory
I still use it so much!!! One of the best things I’ve ever received 💌💌💌
You are my pregnancy goals: style wise, dgaf attitude wise, I’m just so here for all of it lol ❣️
My mom literally jokes that my AirPod max have fused to my head because of how much I wear them! Love this video.
hahahahaha the only way to be
Okay… HEAR ME OUT!
Most definitely agree with the airpod max's!! I cannot imagine wearing them
thank you!!! its not a dupe its a knock off!
What are your thoughts on Brandy Melville i feel like they've gotten super popular and switched their aesthetic a little
One size is forever the worst thing ever and makes me not want to shop there, BUT they do have really nice, quality, basics for a good price ):
I love this energy from you! I just find it so refreshing. Keep it coming!
On the apple I total agree, you are so right, also Laini so much luck for your delivery
loved your rant on amazon fashion. i can't believe people (especially people with money) still choose to buy the crapiest quality items
Omg the platform trend really got me so confused! I almost buy the platform converse knowing they are ridiculous. Appreciate the video❤
i so agree on the low waisted jeans!!! my stomach needs space to BREATHE omg.
Omg plz don’t actually listen to me about not wearing them, if I had them I’d rock them 24/7. I’m just pregnant and moody lmao
@@LainiOzark 100% fair
i’m not a huge fan of platform everything, but personally i love the platform converse. they’re more cushioned and comfortable, and as someone who’s kinda short i feel like they look better on me. whenever i wear the classic converse i feel like i look so much shorter
Girl you are glowingggg
I love how you explain why you dislike something! And you give alternatives, how the icky vibe can be avoided. I love how you word your thoughts. Would love to see a video about ONLY things you dislike and why precisely.
Love you😘
i personally like my platform converse only bc i have short legs and i feel like it helps elongate them a bit
there is somewhat of a platform samba adidas sells called the samba rose and it’s a slightly platformed version but still very cute. i love wearing mine !
omg I love the blue butterfly case! but I can't find it, help!! loved the video
Laini I know for a FACT you'd look so good in button down shirts
I agree with most thing except the AirPod maxes! I don’t think it’s embarrassing to wear them at all especially bc I didn’t pay they were a gift 💝 I don’t think I ever look at what someone is wearing and think it’s embarrassing
I agree with you too, I’m just being a hater lololol
I just found you on social media and i love you omgggg best vibes!!!
I'm so early 🥺 I got the silver virsa bag a year ago after seeing it in your videos and it's my most-worn bag now! It's big, but not huge and I can fit my laptop in comfortably. Wearing it to uni everyday now!
Omg that makes me so happy!!!!!
Which green jacket???
Yes!!! Styling tips for bigger boobs
@@LainiOzark the green leather looking jacket on the rack I think
@@sakinaalia1067 its vintage! but the brand is chadwicks, it a green leather blazer
I picked the Sony headphones, but I do understand people who get the maxes. They look better and its a big item you wear on top of your head.
I actually think the bose headphones look a lot better than the airpod maxes haha
where is your sweater from?? it is the perfect grey colour!!
It’s old everlane!
Do you recommend a spray or something to protect the leather/suede on the sambas? I don’t want the suede toe tip to get ruined by wet weather
I never did! and mine look fine to me!
I think you can easily use a water resistant/waterproofing spray to protect leather/suede! they're pretty easy and cheap to get, at least here.
I sooo agree on the button down thing, love them on other people, I own a few, but hate them on me. for me, though, I think it's more of a collar thing, just not a big fan of collars on me b/c I think it looks weird idk. loved this vid!! ur my fave fashion UA-cam girly
PLSSS cover gorpcore in your winter video!!!! love your stuff
What sort of jackets/ coats do you pair with maxi skirts? I never know what looks best, so I just end up wearing jumpers.
Maxi coats go really well! (Trenches!) but I also love fur, varsity, or jean jackets!!!
tbh i just don't look good in low profile shoes because of how my legs are built (thick thighs - skinny ankles) so i don't think i can give up the platform just yet BUT i will say i'm over platform sneakers, much prefer a good chunky leather shoe (e.g. doc martens) for now!
i hope this is okay to ask but does anyone have bag recs like the one at 4:42? i have been looking for months for one like it but haven’t found one that i really like.
:D had to think about these when u mentioned you would lose your mind if a platform samba would come out
YES. Idk why I forgot they already existed!!!
Agree about the platform Docs vs platform Converse!
Don‘t call a knockoff a dupe I’m so with you sis!!!!!
