Omg I agree 100% on ppl re-wearing clothes especially influencers, bestdressed does this with her corset and I loveee seeing her styling it in different ways. It just feels more real (?) and not that they just have a never ending closet.
I definitly agree, but I also think sometimes a never ending closet can tell a lot about a person if its items collected over the years and not like a closet where half your stuff you bought on shein in 2020 you know. Having a closet full of gifts, hand me downs, items from your childhood that you still wear and love regardless of the trends could be great too. But definitly too much of them could be bad, cause then you're only wearing some stuff like twice a year (lowkey my case) but as long as keeping them brings you new ideas to style those pieces, I think it's fine the way it is!
it’s actually more in line with being a fashion influencer i mean wouldn’t it be more of a flex to show how many different ways you can style a particular piece of clothing?
It’s interesting how you pointed out we’re moving away from over-sized items. The jackets and pants seem to become slimmer, footwear is more focused on fitted and dainty silhouettes. It shows how after one trend in fashion, the antithesis of that will follow that trend. Loved the vid, Laini!
“Organic” styling is definitely the right word for what you’re describing. Matching your accessories will always be a thing and have a time and a place for sure. But this idea of throwing the outfit “off” with a non-matchy bag or shoe does give the impression of a more lived-in, individualized style. More carefree, unexpected & unserious. That being said, if the outfit is already “chaotically” styled, I do like the idea of matching accessories to give a sense of cohesion in a funny, ironic way.
Adding to this, I've been reading up on and watching a lot of interior design videos (especially Paige Wassel) and I think there's a similar idea between the two. Matching bedroom sets are not very ~stylish~ like matching everything in your outfit because its easy. It takes more time to find and a better eye to pair things that don't obviously go together.
I remember I wore a skinny scarf to work at my job 4 years ago and my coworkers were laughing at the fact that it was pointless bc it didn’t do anything lol but I still have it and love it.
I guess it makes sense that after a few years we’re starting to see smaller shoes and bigger handbags. I feel new trends can be a reaction against whatever has been trending for a while. Not sure if this makes any sense lol
i totally agree about not being pushed to “dress for your figure” or have to be like cultivating the way you present your body in every outfit is really refreshing! one note i would make to that though is i do think it has a lot to do with thin privilege; i feel like thinner girls are able to wear slouchy, oversized outfits and look “cool”, whereas plus sized women in the same outfits would be seen as messy or sloppy and are still pushed to wear “flattering” clothing in order to be seen as well-presented or attractive.
I'm a sucker for the chunky shoes since I'm only 4'11, so I feel that will always be a staple in my closet. Treads change so fast, the Adidas are already soooo over saturated- I'm guessing by the spring they'll be out and it'll be something else. Moral of the story, take what you want, leave what you want from trends and make it your own. Trends change so quickly- that it's best to wear what feels good! :) I also love hater Laini.
Laini you will forever be my favourite creator to come to for trends. I don't know how to explain it too well but you just elaborate on trends so well and you always push the values of not being overly trendy. Appreciate your content so much💖

8:26 That thing you said about not being too matchy matchy and instead throwing pieces together and having them work out naturally, that resonates with me so much! I've had that thought deep in my subconscious for a while now and I never knew how to express it. There's something so effortless about throwing together pieces that you love together and having them organically blend together because they're all your style.
Im sticking with chunky shoes because I wear lots of layers of baggy flowy clothes and it balances out my outfits. I used to love ballet shoes when myself and my clothing were smaller but now they look strange.
I am saying this with no hate what so ever, just simply observational, but a lot of these trends remind me of fashion in the mid-2000s. Like the red-burgundy color, skinny scarf look, big hobo bags, and thick belts make me think of that time and I’m here for it!
Not me starting to pull all of my 2012 pieces out of my closet. I feel like at this point it's not even about whats trending but about where you get your inspo from and what type of influencer or celebrity you fallow.
i love what you said about organically styled outfits, i used to be so worried about my clothes clashing but now i embrace it! and rewearing a piece so much it becomes your "brand" is honestly one of my favorite things, my friends associate me with my favorite pair of boots (red doc martens) ❤
Thank you for re-iterating that wearing the same items again and again indicates having “style.” Sometimes it’s just a matter of changing up your other pieces to make that item work time after time. hey laini, what you said about skinny scarves reminded me a lot of an Indian dupatta. It's a decorative scarf Indian women wear on their shoulder or sometimes around their neck like a skinny scarf. You should look up "neck dupatta" for inspo

I really like the racer leather jacket. but, i couldn't allow myself to buy new in this department either. hopefully i'll find one while thrifting as well!
Yes!! I am with you on the riding boots!! I have been on the hunt for a pair, I had a suede pair that I wore basically all of winter last year and obviously they did not hold up well 😭 they also had the swoop thing going on and I want more of the flat straight look
I have a purse from like, JCPenney (lol) that’s brown with burgundy details, and I’ve always loved burgundy so I have a decent bit of it in my closet, but in the fall and winter I looovveedd matching it with this burgundy quilted vest. But I literally got the vest from a thrift store 🥲 I swear none of it is Shein and I bought them separately but now I feel bad 😫.
You said the change in trends in shoes and i heard it while using my brand new flat nude sandals (it's the end of spring where i live) instead of my platform sandals. Honestly platforms are cute and i wore them for years but if you're out and about with platforms (and you don't get the right type of brand) they are super heavy and uncomfortable for walking long distances instead of taking a couple of pictures and leaving. I wasn't comfortable even sitting with them at this point. Also got a bigger bag bc i could only fit my wallet and my phone in my shoulder bag. I think is not as much of a change on trends bc of visuals, but i feel like the general public is influencing the trends taking practicality in mind.
Love bigger bags! but, they gave my mother back aches. As a mom she was always on the go with my activities and events. A more functional back pack (preferably a fashionable one) would be better for the future, in my opinion.
As a short person I’ll never let go of my chunky platform doc martins LOL because they make me look taller 🫶🏻 but I’m also loving the low profile sneakers/shoes
I honestly love love the adidas sambas I got them in blue but I don’t want to look super basic. But I really like them and you make me feel better for liking a trend :) ❤
How would you wear the onitsukas with something other than long pants? Like short socks, ankle socks? I'm confused. I'm happy my ugly xero shoes can considered fashionable now but I don't know how to wear them with shorts and skirts.

I am currently trying to build a (sort of) curated wardrobe so I would love to hear your take on it💖
Coming soon!

THE BURGUNDY ON MY T-SHIRT WHEN YOU SPLASHED YOUR WINE INTO ME..... all the Taylor swift fans when laini said 'burgundy leather ascesories"
Maroon subconsciously telling me what to wear👀👀👀
Yes!! I am with you on the riding boots!! I have been on the hunt for a pair, I had a suede pair that I wore basically all of winter last year and obviously they did not hold up well 😭 they also had the swoop thing going on and I want more of the flat straight look
looool you throwing shade in this video but so enjoyable as always, love hearing your thoughts and opinions. can’t believe baby will be born soon🥺
Happy almost Halloween, Laini!🥰🥰🎃🎃👻👻
Yess Laini!! Love these videos
I absouloutly love what you are saying in this video
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS THANK U!
Laini how do you feel about suede puma classics? Do you think they could be a substitute for the sambas?
not so blonde is my fav~!!!!!
As a short person I’ll never let go of my chunky platform doc martins LOL because they make me look taller 🫶🏻 but I’m also loving the low profile sneakers/shoes
Me and my friend love your vids so much, we always get so excited when u post ! They are so comforting for me and I love your style xx
That makes me so happy!!!
one trend I am loving rn is leather opera gloves, seriously contepl8ing buying a pair on poshmark
My onitsuka tigers are some of my favorite and most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had
I love onitsuka tiger and been trying to gatekeep them as long as I can
I honestly love love the adidas sambas I got them in blue but I don’t want to look super basic. But I really like them and you make me feel better for liking a trend :) ❤
love your content!
How would you wear the onitsukas with something other than long pants? Like short socks, ankle socks? I'm confused. I'm happy my ugly xero shoes can considered fashionable now but I don't know how to wear them with shorts and skirts.
Like the leather Joanna Gaines bag I purchased last year 180.00 not bad for leather
What is that style of hat called???? Please someone help meee I love itttt so adorable
