    Hi Thanks for your honesty and for the demo. I've been working glass for about 20 years and carpal tunnel has ruined my ability to work glass and anything really that involves close up work. It has really put a shadow on my creativity. I will go out and buy one of these and hopefully I will be able to do glass again, certainly not the 3 stores and 15 craft fairs I used to do, but my love is back. Love your tats and nails. Your nails also convinced me that glass is possible. When I have carpal tunnel problems, I can't even write. I'm older now, and you are very right to protect your hands. Thank you so much. People who don't do crafts, don't understand how they can take a toll on your body.

    Thank you Makenzie for all of your tutorials. I am a beginner and watch each of them as I go through each step of the process to make sure I don't miss any steps. Thanks for letting us know the importance of tinning the soldering iron ... I wish I knew that before burning out my first one!
    Instead of Mr. Splash, I use a grocery store shower curtain liner ($1) and 3M adhesive hooks that are easy to remove and leave no marks on the wall to hang the curtain behind the grinder to protect the wall. It works like a charm in the corner of the room.

    Hey, I just got a Cutter's Mate. I would highly recommend finding a hand specialist, a surgeon and, see if you would benefit from an endoscopic carpal tunnel release. Tiny little incisions, half inch. They Work. I just retired. I was a CRNA for 37 years. I've seen a million of them and worked with some excellent surgeons. It's about a 45 minute procedure to do both. People have both done at the same time frequently since the recovery time is quite short. You'll be moving your fingers almost immediately without much discomfort. Back to glass in less than a week. Probably good therapy. You're young. Get it done now and quit suffering. Trust me, I was a health care professional.🙂 Now, I'm gonna go try to figure this thing out. Just got mine yesterday. Got the circle and strip cutters, too. I've learned a ton from you. Thanks.

      Hey Greg! Thank you for the advice. I am a bit resistant to doctors to be totally frank. I havent had even a check up in well over a decade. Im trying to be more open to the idea of preventative procedures or something like you mentioned. The pain can get quite intense if im not careful, and being only 30 it is scary. I no i need to do this, just need to push myself over the hill and get to a regular doctor first.

    I purchased a cutters mate a couple of months ago. I got the 16” cutters mate bundle from a stained glass supplier in Maryland USA for $229. I have been a Stainglass hobbyist for about 16 years. I love the cutters mate so much all I did was cut glass for a few weeks then I had to stop and catch up on finishing the pieces!! Easy on the wrists, great control. My cutting immediately got much better because of the correct angle of the cutter and the weighted cutter. I put drops of oil directly into the handle and have had absolutely no problems cutting.

VERY frustrating for everyone, but super miserable for artists! You can get a simple cortisone shot in each wrist which may be enough to prevent worsening symptoms. ♥️ Thank you for your awesome videos! I've used the Morton Cutting System for 20 years, it's brilliant. I hate cutting on any non waffle surface, bits of sharp glass get everywhere, but with the grid they're mostly kept away from me. If you want to cut straight lines and geometric pieces it's unbeatable. I may look into the cutter's mate for the non straight cutting though as I feel the strength in my hands has decreased over the years. As for Easter, how about making some decorations from glass? You could even make them in your signature "dark" style...bad bunnies and wicked eggs etc :-)

    Hi Makenzie. Thank you for another beautifully done demo. I've purchased so many items after your demos and will consider this one as well! While I'm here, I have a question for you. I just finished a project yesterday and after I was done with all the steps to complete it, I noticed that the foil on an outside piece (that I had already tinned) is coming loose. It may be a piece that I was foiling and noticed it was off centered so I re positioned it which I will not do again in the future as I think it weakened the adhesive. Do you have any suggestions on how to repair it? I'm really bummed because it came out so beautiful and took so many hours to complete.

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 роки тому +2

      Did you build the bead up after just tinning it? And yes, unfortunately if you repeatedly go over the same area of foil, it will melt the foil adhesive and it's no good. If it just a small area that doesn't bare weight, just burnish it down again and build a nice bead up. If the foil is completely loose and has no stick, remove it and start over. So take some wire cutters and start pulling off all the crappy foil. Burnish the open end edges. Rinse it clean, re foil it. Burnish, tin and solder. Hope that helps!

      @dianehutchins9206 3 роки тому +1

      @@MakenzieHallie Wow...I wasn't expecting you to get back to me so quickly!! Gosh I didn't build up the bead after tinning it, I only tinned it. I'm still new at this. I'll cut that small area out and refoil and retin. Do you think I should wipe and clean the outside edges (since I already put a finish on it) and bead the tinned edges. Also I just wanted to mention to you that I use a turkey baster to clean out the water out of my grinder and it just makes life so much easier! Thank you soooo much!
