My father did a similar job on a 35xmulti power. The multi power had been taken out or else a standard gearbox fitted . I can't remember. But he rebuilt the engine from top to bottom and then the gearbox. Put it all together and it all worked lovely except that the tractor is now doing 62 KMPH on the road . It's a mad yoke. Great videos by the way . I've only recently discovered and subscribed. I have 135 multi power myself . Love it.
That was fantastic detail.... I have a 1964 135 Multipower coming and cant wait to get started on it.. I'm thinking that the Hydraulic Pump is in the gearbox but I don't see it. Is it easy to get to?
@@BundyBearsShed Thank you, Lance.. If in fact the pump is bad, if the can it be removed and repaired without splitting the cases? Thank you again for your expertise Sir!
Hi Lance. Really enjoying your videos. A good tradesman always makes it look easy. I know this video is on the 65 but is there any information on the early TE20 1947 on what it should have from the factory. Eg petrol tank cap recessed in the tank. Battery clamp to hold 6volt battery down not a battery box as in the later TEA. Position of the petrol tap and glass boul further forward on the bottom of the tank. Dose it matter if the Bonnet doesn't have the alloy sides with the join in them. I have a Bonnet from a 49 with out the join in the side. Steel sides and alloy top.
We didn't get the TE20 range until 1948 over here, I would snap an early one up if I could find one with the recessed tank etc. That is something we don't see over here. I have both full alloy bonnet, bonnets with only alloy sides and one with only an alloy top so it must have been pretty well mix and match I would think. Whatever came along on the production line got used.
Yep the early ones a little different. I will try to keep it as close as I can to how it would have come from the factory. I will find it difficult to find a tank but if I need to I could make up a tank recessed cap. My trade is couch builder, panel beater.
G’day mate look before I go on please, be care-full how you hit those spanners using the palms of your hands. It can course carpal tunnel which is bloody painful and the only way to fix it is going under the knife, I know because I had it on both hands. You can damage other parts of the palm as there are a lot of nerves and very soft muscle. I enjoyed looking into this gear box thanks for explaining it the difference between a straight forward box to this six speed it’s going to be nice this tractor when you’ve finished it, these gear boxes are red inside is that some type anti rust paint regards John
Hello my tractor has a standard gearbox but i found a multipower gearbox with a cracked casing. Can i fit the multipower pack in the casing of the standard gearbox
G'day Lance, Thanks for the video. I'm Looking at doing the spacer Modification to disable MP on my 35x, does it lock it in low range and does it also retain engine braking? Thanks again.
How is that for timing, I found the old one and did the measurements in this weeks Kangaroo stew. I wont try and remember them is case I get something wrong but watch the stew this week and it is in there.
That is only for the Multipower tractors the 6 speed doesnt have it. There is a free workshop manula download on my website at www.queenslandtractorspares.com.au that might help you out.
To stop inexperienced driver using low multi and thus loose engine braking could they not just have disconnected the hi lo lever on the dash.? . Just wondering
@@BundyBearsShed thanks for the reply and all the videos. I'm just starting out turning wrenches and learning a lot from these videos. I have a 65 that needs a transmission and a neighbour is selling a 35 transmission. I just wasn't sure because the clutch is a different part number. Thanks!

Thanks Adrian, Welcome to the channel.
I bought one of those crank around stands recently. Best investment ever.
Yes they are a great tool for sure. Great for filming too.
I love watching these shows he makes it look easy.
It is easy, well mostly, lol.
Another great series of videos Lance - the gearbox certainly appears to be in good nick!
G Day Charles, Yes it seems good but in saying that Im up to $450 in parts at cost do far, just being fussy.
Thank you for the vids, Lance. My MF65 multipower will love you.
Same box Joshua.
Thank you Lance. This is the video I have been waiting for.
Thanks Poul, I hope you get something useful from it.
Dang! Thanks Lance! Busy place in there!
Sure is, Im going to take it slower going back together
That gearbox stand is a mighty job
Makes it easy to work on and film

It is attached to the main hydraulic pump and can be seen bu removing the lift cover.

I think you need to split it behind the gearsticks from memory.
Thanks Lance !
Brilliant video ,, is there much difference between this gearbox and the 165 multi power gearbox?
Not much, they are almost identical.
Don't forget to put your autograph inside the bell housing, so the next bloke in 50 years time will know bundy bear has been here !
Well there is a thought.

Are the multipower components the same between the 135 and 35? Thanks
Yes
Excellent breakdown video
Thanks Jonathan, Going back together this weekend hopefully.
@@BundyBearsShed thanks again for this video. I adjusted my multi- power and got it to go between hi and lo now instead of being limited to just low.
Why Massey Ferguson 135 lock in gear usually ? is there solution to this problem ? Thanks for video.
Usually the selector is worn or the ball on the gear stick. You can sometimes remove the gear stick and weld it up again.

The inside is a red oxide type product, on some tractors petrol will mark it.

Yes it locks it in low and you fix the engine braking problem at the same time.
Thanks mate much appreciated. Should I do anything else i.e disconnect multipower pump ect or should it stay for lubrication?
Thank You , you the Man
You're welcome!
Any chance you might have the dimensions of that spacer, so I can knock one up for my multipower?

@@BundyBearsShed awesome. Bloody legend. Thank you
If I’m taking the bottom shaft out and I don’t have the gearbox dismantled the shaft won’t slide in or anything will it?🥴
No, you will need to split it again.
Do you know what is gear in your left hand 32:02 .what part is it

Yes they seem to be available easily still.

Yes they could for sure
I have mf 178 multi power, do you think I should cancel it?
No They work great usually.
What can happen bad if we bypass the multipower as it was on this tractor?
It is just stuck in high I think.

Sparex, Bareco etc. depending on what model pump you have.

The clutch will have heavier springs in the 65 due to the extra hp, it should all bolt up ok though.
