I love your idea this is the type of stuff me and my brother talk about. If fallout 5 had a race a selection and choose your background and how your characters background can effect your playthrough and the npc you talk to. I think that would be amazing it could have the replay ability like Skyrim has.
Yes exactly! I felt like the Fallout 4 was extremely structured in their story in that it took away about of RPG. I loved Skyrim and Oblivions intro because of how neutral it was. It really allowed a lot more roleplaying and having the chance to start the wasteland from another perspective than a vault dweller (optional) would be cool! Thanks for the kind feedback!
Has another game done it like that yet? I really enjoyed that in gta5 and not seen it in another game since. At least I haven’t. Loved it though in gta 5.
Fallout already has a perfectly designed world and charisma system to make a ghoul a playable character. It could have real tangible pros and cons with the gameplay, better health and combat skills, with the negative being tied to dialogue, relationships, merchants, not being welcome, etc.
Yes and I used orcs and orc settlements as an example out of Skyrim in that we could Find ghoul settlements like in FO3 underworld which would be easier to get in. I feel like it would just be a new angle to see the fallout universe from. See if we end up going as mean as Cooper Howard after being outcasted.
@@sweptapostle2473 No you don't like the idea or no to it being like Dragon Age: Origins? If it's no to liking the idea fair enough. If it's no to it being like DAO then I'll have to assume you haven't played it because this is exactly what they did in it.
Thanks for the kind comment! That’s exactly what I’m suggesting so you’re spot on to compare it to origins. I just feel like it would be nice have a bit more options to choose from or RPG elements as well as the ability to customise your story.
I think having varied characters your could play would give you different insights into the games lore. and add variation to the games narrative ability, similar to the races in Skyrim or even the preset characters with story arcs in divinity/Baldur's gate,
Personally, I'd probably start the game like New Vegas and have a bland opening and make it the same for everyone, but have people interact differently with your character depending on your race or background. Like every elder scroll has the same opening, but people interact differently depending on what you pick for your character.
Yes a bland opening would be ideal so we can create our own back story with the RPG elements. It’s just something different and creates more freedom in my opinion.
If Fallout was given to InExile or Obsidian I imagine this could work but Bethesda isn't good enough for a single story at this time. I mean, their games are nice sandboxes but narrative wastelands. Skyrim looses steam once you reach about halfway point, Fallout 4 loses momentum once you meet the Minutemen and they give you powerarmour and you kill a Dearhclaw... at the start of the journey... and you already have the endgame gear and fight the most feared creature... then its all downhill from there. You think Bethesda has the writers to pull off three stories? Come on, we all know they don't. They can't manage a single campaign wirh literally minimal character choices along the way... like in Fallout 4. The main story lacks impact, the side quests don't sculpt your character, the faction quests have no consequence... and you can't even play as a villain in the main campaign but then, out of the blue, you can be okay with replacing people with Synths or murdering Synths without problem. Bethesda has no writers, so this won't work, sorry. I dont even know what they'll do next but it's hard to be optimistic.
Yes I guess you’re right in that Bethesda don’t have the capability at the moment to write good stories. Not sure if you saw my last video but I literally used the minute men, power armour, mini gun kill deathclaw as an example of why people didn’t like 4. It killed the challenge a lot. But you are correct and I was going to do a video on how Bethesda writing has been getting worse over time. I don’t think they think their fans are bothered about the story.
Like the idea, but Synths may not be in the next Fallout as we kind of Nuked most of them at the end of the forth game. So I'd just not put them as a race option. Ghouls and Super Mutants sign me up for that. I'd love to be a Super Mutant in the next game.
I think it’s just be nice to try it from another perspective and add a little bit more of RPG elements. I’d love to try playing as a ghoul and copy the show lol. I agree with the synth thing as they were the star attraction of FO4 so I’d assume they won’t be as big on FO5. Plus like you said, we put an end to them! Lol

You can also use the Wasteland Warfare minis for the Fallout 2d20 rpg if needed. I recommend getting at least the Core Rulebook, Settler's Guide Book, and Wanderer's Guide Book. Winter of Atom is another nice book for the 2d20 rpg. It's a premade campaign that serves as a prequel to Fallout 4, takes place in the Commonwealth a year before the events of Fallout 4.

Just to comment on the ghoul substance thing in the tv show: Personally I didn't think the substance Ghouls have to take in the show to not go feral was a good idea because it raises a few questions. Who is making it since most people hate ghouls anyway. How are they making it and have been making it for so long? And how are so many ghouls not feral yet. The best answer I could give for all that is that some people saw an opportunity to make money from ghouls and manufactured the thing. However, I think a better solution would have been for the substance to actually be a chem that is popular with ghouls (but not just for them). It could be popular with them because it helps them cope with looking like they do, living such a long life, and being treated how they are treated. So the chem wouldn't be required by every ghoul or even most ghouls since an accepting or supporting community would be enough and it would depend on the person. It would also add more character to THE GHOUL since he seems to need it. EDIT: My idea would actually work even better with your idea of a playable ghoul. Instead of always needing to take the substance, maybe the number of relationships (not just romantic) you have in game could alleviate how much you need to take.
Yes 100%! They haven’t explained the origin of it at all yet. Now that you bring up all those points it’s really got my thinking on where it’s coming from or why they are making it. I kind of liked the idea of having it as a thing you’d need to keep an inventory off to sort of balance things out. I love your Idea though and it just fun to talk about “what ifs”
My idea fot Fallout 5 would a multiple start with backgrounds, skills, and starting objective. The starting objective would basically be get to the other side of the map or get there and back. The focus is more on speedrunning. I think making gouls and super mutants playable like vampires and warwolves in skyrim. So they feel like upgrading your character with some draw back and a quest to cure yourself
Yes that is actually a really good idea! You’re spot on! In Skyrim you can become a vampire of werewolf and have to heal yourself if you want to. As a super mutant we have been in FO4 they can turn back into humans so the concept is definitely doable! Awesome idea!
It's a good idea in a perfect world. However in the modern game development climate it would likely fail. Fallout is an rpg which already has multiple factions and endings. If you ask me, Bethesda already struggles with a content drought with 76 and starfield. Adding multiple playable characters means adding multiple stories within the already branching fallout rpg elements. I think it would just be too much work and likely to end in disappointment.
