  • Trek with me to an ancient village site containing 30 house pit type structures. At the site we will also encounter mortars, metates, petroglyphs, and other objects indicating that ancient man once resided at the site.

    That was neat seeing the turtles and they were still around and to see them on a petroglyph.

    That’s very interesting. It looks like it was a good size village. I can imagine the people who lived there walking around in their daily lives. Working to serve one day at a time.

    Great video, we had enjoyed all your work and learned so much over the last couple years. Now our 13 year old finds these sites easily with all the great teaching moments you provide. We live in this area, but had not been to this site yet. Thank you! 😊

    A wonderful video, Alex. Thanks for all you do putting your trekking and explorations online for us to appreciate.
    Altho my travels have not yet taken me to that part of the country, I hope to be able to do so in the not too distant future, as those retirement times are approaching. Maybe we'll have to plan a meetup of two old retired guys exploring past civilizations, just for the love of doing it. LOL!
    Thanks again, and continued happy trekking, Alex. Stay safe out there.

    If you ever want to team up, I have over 50 pit house ruins marked on google in the agua fria area to check out. I've been to a few already, but I have a TON more to go see.

    How did they make the petroglyphs?

    • @Quantrills.Raiders
      @Quantrills.Raiders 5 місяців тому +2

      pecked out small holes with a sharp rock

    • @twofeathers5145

      @UEE-kj6ek Interesting. It's incredible how long they've survived!

    • @Quantrills.Raiders
      @Quantrills.Raiders 5 місяців тому +2

      @@twofeathers5145 you can actually tell how old it is by how closely the petroglyph color matches the rock its pecked on. If the petroglyph is the same shade as the rock then its really old because the patina has gone back to the original color of the rock, if it looks fresh or contrasts the surrounding rock then it was pecked in the last 200 years.
