They love boiled eggs,they can even eat the shell if you mashed it good enough for them,it's good for them,they also love dried meal worms,millet and cucumber and lettuce is a real favourite of mine.

I read that Zebra finches is the only finch that have a light-dependent magnetic compass similar to migratory birds. Does that also mean the Zebra finch has better senses than other birds like hearing and eyesight?

No, you should not touch their nest but after they got out I threw it 😅 as ut was very dirty

Ok so i have 3 zebra finches and ive had them for 2 years and i tried soooo hard to tame them but they just wont they are ALWAYS scared of me idk what to do any tips? And how are the parents tamed or were they tamed when you bought them?
they can't be tamed like budgies, but they can trust you somehow a little bit

Oh my we have similar stories... My finch entered the kitchen cause its super hot outside so i took her ... I wanted to release her but that's just a death sentence so i took her and did the best i could to make her happy and bought her a cage a nest and a bf.

Those are from the bigger types of the species, right?
My bought two of them but they used to sit at one place and to eat and drink only
What to do if egg is stuck in female? What did you hand feed the baby?
- if egg binding happens, give her one drop of castor oil, put paper towel on the bottom of the cage and bring cage to the bathroom, let hot water because steam can help her to push an egg out.
- I had to handfeed a finch because it was weak, and parents refused to feed him

i have a couple of finch too i got the near a month ago and they love each other when will they have babies? i feed them with seeds and eggs
- when you give them plenty of space, sun light, fresh air, quite room and nest, they will breed. they also need to be 9 months old

- just put some fruits, or vegetables between cage bars, when they get hungry, they will start eating it. maybe they're afraid of new things

hi I am a bit late but I subscribed :) but ehm can you please tell me how long did you have them when they start laying eggs I have my zebrafinches for about a month now and I wanted to now when I can expect eggs :))
After I put the nest, after 2 weeks I got eggs

And they're always preening each other and doing.... 🤭 And going in the nest all day and they can fly around in my room all day so I'm pretty curious about when they might be parents🥰

- male finches have colored cheeks, markings on wings and breast. they're all females except Saki, Zebo, Pixel and Toffee

Mein Kater ist (obwohl er das von seiner Mutter nicht gelernt hat) ein großartiger Mäusejäger. 😸
Er bringt 2-3 täglich, tötet sie und legt sie vor die Tür.
Ein großer Liebesbeweis. 😸
Auch die Katze würde die kleinen Vögel jagen und fressen. 😿
Deshalb würde ich mir keine lebendigen Vögel kaufen.
Viel lieber beobachte ich sie in der Natur 🏞.
Es beginnt jetzt bei uns wieder die Zeit der Zufütterung.

- she is exhausted :( I can't stop her from laying eggs. I separated her from Saki but she is still laying eggs.

But finches do not need grit. They eat only the inside of seed and not husk
- wrong, they need grit (mix of shells and sand) but budgies or bigger birds don't need grit
@@dennythebudgie Ok thanks for info but birds like doves and chicken need grit not finches as finches leave the husks and eat only seeds. Doves and chicken eat full seed so they need help to digest the full seed
@@aali7512 - do you know what is grit? grit and seeds are totally different. they eat the whole grit, but when they eat seeds they leave husk
@@dennythebudgie Grit is made for birds to help them digest seed husks. Finches do not eat seed husks whatsoever. I dont know 100% but I will listen to you😊
