I have a question! I just bought a new female (so I thought). I can't discern whether it is male or female. It makes the cricket noises and behaves like a female (opposite from my male finches behavior) and my male hopped on her as soon as she got in the cage last night BUT this morning she started mimicking his song! My last female did not do that. Now I'm worried it's a male but it only did the song twice and has gone back to cricket noises. How can I be sure it's female?
@@mingduclaire8532 which species do you talk about
I tried two times to breed with my diamond firetails in a breeding cage with no succes. Placed them back in my big avairy, one week later they are on eggs and now I have two healty chicks ready to fly. Apperently sometimes it works better in the aviary :)
Yes had the same with my Gouldian finches

Good morning from Greece. I am new to raising gouldians finches and I really appreciate your advice on many topics related to nutrition, organization in their cage and even for reproduction. I really enjoyed the advice video, thanks in advance
Thanks for reaching out I appreciate the support
Good luck for the season
Thanks 👍
Any update of this video, thanks in advance
I would suggest you to place the gouldians' nest box at the place where they had laid or tried to lay. You have more chance that they will get into the nest box this way than searching for a good location. If I were you, I'd keep have half of the nest boxes as near as to mimicking nature and the others where they tried to lay eggs when there were no nest boxes.
Unfortunatly they laid their egg behind the camera. There is no space for a nestbox plus too close to the feeding area. I don't want territorial behavior near the feeding area, so I always place my nestboxes far away from these areas.
Magnifiques 😍
Thank you 😊
Hello. Great video and good tips. Mine loved a dry insect mix I got online too. I used powdered calcium on the food and liquid calcium directly to the beak of the bird having egg issues like shell less eggs or egg bound. Works like a charm. Good luck with the new breeding season! Hoping for big success! Take care.
Thanks, I saw the video of paradise aviary with a drop of calcium. Never thought that it would work so quickly and so well. This is the first year I try liquid calcium. I have the luck that I didn't have a lot of egg-bound issues last couple of years, but it is good to have it at hand. Especially for the society finch, it might help. I powder all my foods with sepia as you could see in the video, I used this method because none of them really at the sepia.
@@MrAviary That's great. You are doing everything right. I think you will have your most successful season yet. I will be watching and hoping for the best.
Nice video 👍🏻 good information, I just got back from the bird shop , went for 2 isabel red canary pairs, came back with 3 pairs an a pair of gouldamines, I also have a pair of zebra finches. I hope this summer I will be succesfull breeding some ( zebra finches an gouldamines in a cage seperatly inside) an the red isabel canarys with my 2 other pairs of mozaik red canary in the aviary 👍🏻
Thanks, the bird virus has struck again👍
Hey there with the Zebras and I believe the Gouldians it’s important they get a bit of sunlight to breed. Keep them protected from predatory birds when you put them outside but. Cheers
Burung yg cantik... 😍
Thank you
Very good video! 👍 I also use the Versele laga products 😃
I hear good results about Versele laga, never tried it before.
My finches have never bred , I give them plenty of nesting material , space , nest boxes , cutle fish , greens , meal worms , seed , lots of natural scenery, lots of light , plenty of water with a mineral tonic once a week , bath pots for them , sand baths , lots of things to keep them active like foraging , no predators can get anywhere near the avairy . They have options for indoor parts of the avairy for colder weather ( can be heated on freezing weather ,plenty of flight room ect they have lots of different nesting material and they are kept clean obviously so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong as they are left to their own and just watched from a distance and it’s only me that goes in the avairy and cleans so they do get stressed out . I’m at a loss what I’m doing wrong
Looks like you are doing a lot right, but let's start with the questions what kind of finches you have and how many?
I love your cages kindly can you make video on it thank you 😊
Check my videos I have multiple on how to build the cages
Tnx i noted 2 pages
Thank you 😁
I use to breed my finches in a greenhouse with a humidifier, daylight nightlight etc kept the temp high to low 80s also.. healthier breeding overall .. also feed them good too eggs meal worms etc
A greenhouse, very good idea
Best wishes for your breeding season this year 🙏🤞🤞
Thank you, Best wishes for you as well ☺️
🔥💕👍
Thanks 👍
Hello I had a question on where you got you’re breeding cages?
I build them myself. check it out in this video: ua-cam.com/video/DW9H3eg_kvE/v-deo.html
Hey man awesome video! And i got a question i have zebrafinches in a breeding cage but they only have 10 hours of light and they already started bringing some feathers and stuff to their nestbox so i did a little bit of nest material in there and they immediatly started building a nest with it. My question is should i continue this and give them more nest material or should i remove all nesting material from their cage and wait till they reached the 12 hours of light?
Hey Steven, Just continue giving them nesting material. Zebra finches are easier to get into breeding conditions. However, make sure to start prepping both of them because maybe only one is in breeding conditions. Let's hope you will have a good breeding season this year.
@@MrAviary Alright i hope it succeeds and thanks for the info! 👍🏻
@@St333ve_ And don't forget to give calcium supplements a bit more than vitamin supplements. Because these are superb breeders.
I’ve been giving my birds Gouldians and Zebra and other finches, a verity of green leaves and softfoods. And they’re always ready to breed especially zebra, hard to stop them 😂. You may give a try!
@@bingo200 😂 yeah those 2 arent even that long together yet and already building a nest
May I know the water to vinegar proportion?
Like 5mla 10 ml on a liter of water
Hi, can I foster gouldian egg with zebra finch ? And do tou have any experience about it ?
Never seen it before, you can foster Gouldian eggs under society finches.
People also put them under bengalese finches
What is your ratio of Apple Cider Vinegar to water? I’d love to start using this.
I always use 1 to 2 lids (I use the lid as measuring cup) in a liter of water. I think it is around 10ml per liter.
Hi mr Avairy, i have a pair of finches, they lay almost a dozen every week , but never hatch. Can you direct me please.
What kind of finches, how are they housed?
How they get sun ?
They don't, at the moment I am experimenting with an uv-lamp
Thank you .Where are you
Its really incredible that a birdkeeper like you using a scissor to cut nails
I used other tools but this still works the best for me
Do you change water every day?
Yes Everyday they get fresh water
dont need any tips....finches go at it like crazy...and dont stop!
That's great 👍
When did you start with your breeding season
I always start preparing on the first of February
What's the apple cider vinegar ratio you're doing?
Most of the time I only do 5ml in 1l water only if the birds are sick I do more
I bet you’ll have more success if you feed a wide range of foods and stop adding medicine and vitamins.
You only need additives if you’re not providing what they need. Very simple.
Vinegar not vinigar.
Handling not handeling.
why does this guy look like the fake mr beast in the thumbnail
