It's funny. People think that ninjas in feudal Japan, would wear black. They didn't. They wore a dark blue. The moonlight makes things look blue, not black.
thing is imo, the camo that blends in during the day, will also blend in during night... for the most part.. lets say look at the german flecktan or british dpm/dutch camo.. they blend in in such a manner that they will blend in at night as well.. problems arise when using multicam tho although it looks so good, i know, we all love the estethic lol... if european, multicam is great duing early sprig or autumn/early winter in european woods, otherwise youre a sitting duck. edit: also, many upon very many target practice busts are black for a reason... easy to spot so steer clear of multicam black unless you just want to look cool
Yeah, in addition to whay you've already mentioned in the video, dressing in pure black at night makes you only invisible in total darkness. In the open, where's always some light, by the moon or a nearby city, one would totally stand out dressed in pure black, as a big blob of nothingness. Using any pattern that fits makes you still blending into the background. Pure black just stands out.
The best night camo I ever saw is stone-grey olive, used by the West-German Bundeswehr from the 1960s to the early 90s. During my military draft one day we build our tents, were sent to a night patrol and some guys were not able to find their tents, when we returned :D. And at this night we got bright moonlight.
Weaponsandstuff93 I think he meant that as a joke. Speaking of Vantablack, I was wondering the other day if it would confuse laser rangefinders, lidar and laser designators.
Weaponsandstuff93 of course but going off of saying confusing the brain, vantablack could work because it’s of course the blackest black, if you’ve ever looked at it it’s very “confusing” to look at, and since it doesn’t appear in nature our brains haven’t evolved in a way to notice that colour as well as we do every other colour, just food for thought
The coloring of desert camo is why the US Army used the green night desert camo during Desert Storm, and it helped against the night vision systems at that time. Great video as always. And well researched.
For night camo I am not a big fan of camo pattern who have a lot of tan/ beige in them, like M81 Woodland/ British DPM/ Multicam. Since tan reflect the moonlight very well and you will be seen. As mentioned at 04:20 by our friendly British host. I recomment Flecktarn or Digital Woodland (Marpat copy) or the good old Olive Drab (Green).
Hey Liam..that's you're name right? You have a very nice channel. I followe you're channel for long time and now you have a new sub. Keep on the good work my friend!!
I have dyed an ACU pants/ shirt and M65 jacket terracotta brown and it worked well, both in forest and urban areas. And the old Olive Drab (green) is also hard to spot in the dark with the naked eye. During my army days as a truck driver, I had to to U-turn my 8 ton truck and a car slammed into my side. The driver did not see, dispite I had my lights on. The side reflectors were covered by camouflage material, so he did see the OD at night, untill 10 meters/ 33 feet.
It's one of my favourite camos, more of a micro camo than a macro though, colour wise it blends really well but it just looks like a brown blur at a distance. Have you watched my videos on it?
I find tiger camouflage works pretty well at night and in the Australian bush. Whats your thoughts tiger camo ? most of my camo comes from the Uk there is a great shop in Manchester called military 1st.
I like Tigerstripe camos but would prefer variants with dark brown instead of black on them for the reasons given in this video. I've had issues with Military 1st before though, bought an item described as a 1/1 replica and it had lots of quality control issues and incompatibilities with actual equipment making it a bad replica and useless.
So far i have only bought few boonie hats tiger camo from military 1st there is another place like military 1st up in Scotland bought stuff online for my bug out kit i forget the name of the place i believe the shop is Aberdeen. Here in Australia we don't have good surplus stores is there any other stores you could recomend in the UK :) . I liked your video in was very interesting.
A lot of the black camo is more of just look thing for law enforcement because they are almost all. Black but they may work as an urban camo at night maybe?
@@outwardpanicjoe8950 No, black does not work at night in an urban enviroment, because there is always light from street lights and building. Red and pink blend in very well at night in urban areas. But pink is not a warrior color.
Other than it having large black patches in the woodland pattern, and that most of the Soldier 95 gear being very thin and prone to tearing, I do love it regardless though.
Get yourself a 90 pattern jacket: you get the darker 1980s DPM but the fabric is stronger than the 95 stuff. The 90 pattern jacket is the one that doesn't have a flap over the front zipper.
black isnt good under ANY circumstances. just dont use black. you will likely NEVER be in an environment that requires black for camo. this is yet another proof that the various versions of woodland and flektarn are some of the best ALL PURPOSE camo. it would be awesome if we could get woodland without the black in it. but other than that its pretty much the all around best camo, for now, until they develop ( or allow us to have) the camo that changes with the environment via technology.
Correct, red and ................pink. Pink is very hard to spot in lit up urban areas. I dyed a ACU pants and shirt terracotta (reddish brown). It worked very well.
@SPeacock I heard too that blue is hard color to spot at night. Red shades are hard to see at night, become red is the closest visible color to Infra Red. I like your suggestion of purple as a night time camouflage color.
It's funny. People think that ninjas in feudal Japan, would wear black. They didn't. They wore a dark blue. The moonlight makes things look blue, not black.
I was stunned when I found out that most camoflauge gets darker along with the enviroment when the sun goes down.

Sadly lots of people keep wanting to argue the opposite.

True, I had a car slammed into my army truck during a U-turn. The driver saw the OD way too late.
Red is the hardest color for the human eye to see at night. Unfortunately, if someone shines a light on you, it becomes extremely noticable
The USMC MARPAT camo is pretty good for night time use.
Agreed MARPAT is a really nice camo, the darker prints of flecktarn are very similar colour wise to MARPAT.
Cadpat is great too. Oh wait marpat is a cadpat clone in a different colour
Weaponsandstuff93 I have a camouflage specific for night time, and it uses lighter colors like a faint blue and purple.
Your camo videos are great, very informative and interesting
Cheers
The best camouflage to night its one maded of vantablack
No as explained in the video, black is darker than the surroundings making you a silhouette.
Weaponsandstuff93 I think he meant that as a joke. Speaking of Vantablack, I was wondering the other day if it would confuse laser rangefinders, lidar and laser designators.
I'm pretty sure it would confuse such laser devises, seeing as it absorbs most light it would not allow the device to read

Against modern FLIR night vision no camo would really work.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 that's true

The Czech Rain pattern serves me well.
Cool video. Keep up the good content

How are you doing, Liam?
At night all cats are grey....
What would be the best color for Urban night camo?
Shades of grey and maybe dark red, it's one of the few places UCP would be useful especially if dirty.
ATACS AU and swedish M90K for both day and night

How about dark brown?
What about vantablack?
Have you seen of musou black?
You cant... literally
Could I have your opinion on East German Strichtarn? I have a full set and hope to use it for a SHTF scenario.
It's one of my favourite camos, more of a micro camo than a macro though, colour wise it blends really well but it just looks like a brown blur at a distance.

Yep! Would be nice for you to do some more on it. I actually found it to be amazing in the snow during an airsoft match

Hey may i Asl u a question? What di u think abboutnthe italian "vegetata" camo? (In general)
Looks good but very similar to British MTP and multicam.
Ty : )
Kryptek Typhoon>MultiCam Black>Solid Dark Blue
Those are the best for me.
what would be a good camo for a kind of jungle/swampy enviroment?
A woodland camo I imagine.
You could try the German WWII Sumpftarn (swamp camouflage) pattern.
looks cool kind of deserty looking
Try Brazilian army camo, it was made for jungles
Swedish M90, russuan SS Leto (summer)
Dark blue is a good color
Yeah
When the sun rises you're visible, so it's better to wear the camouflage that fits the enviroment, no drawbacks whether it's dark or not.
How about Multicam and tan 499?
just check out the kryptek night camo, and that's it.
No good results come up, some of various camo tests including kryptek camos that don't work as well as cadpat and marpat.
oh ok thanks than. the results are impressive btw thumbs up for your video

Urdan digital camo would work well at night gray and black with a little white in it
Yeah sadly I don't actually have classic urban camo, just the red urban variant.
What would u recommend s10 or gsr
S10 obviously.
K lol
Only reason I’m watching this is because I’m playing man hunt at night and there’s money on the line

Hi 51th
I have a question is Tiger stripe camo good?
It was in Vietnam.
Weaponsandstuff93 oh ok
Grey a dark grey with Navy blue mix
what about the navy blue uniform?
Dark blue works better than solid black but it's still a solid colour
Still can't beat DPM
