Hi! Hope you enjoyed spending some time with me in my garden! Commenting on my videos really tells UA-cam that the video is worth sharing, so I'd appreciate it! 😃
Niall. Greetings from Boston. I sometimes wonder if I hit the correct button. Anyway - I love your videos - the energy you give to us, the viewers - and your garden❗ You do a great job sharing your information. ☘️💚🇮🇪
Thanks so much Peggy! Glad you enjoyed it. Apologies, it's been a while since I've been able to properly message you - how are you keeping and how are things in Florida?
@niallgardens Autumn 🍂 arrived with a cool 67°F morning and only 85° for a high. Today we are back up to 90°+ and continues for the week. But Fall weather is coming soon. I hope you and Kenny are doing well and getting ready for the holidays. I have been doing a 1,000 pound recycling ♻️ Challenge for 2023. Taking all of the food and carbon products that we normally toss out and ♻️ back to the worm bins or the Geobin Composter or Garden. 38 weeks into the year and I surpassed 1,000. As of today, we diverted 1352 pounds!♻️ I'm still doing loads of Garden and Worm videos, too. At 73, stay busy, or ELSE! Take care of yourselves 💓 ❤️Peggy❤️
Autumn's arrived here too, and there's been quite a quick change. We had a couple of nice weeks at the start of Sept and now we're into the typical wet, stormy, grey, windy weather! Ah well, I suppose it's what keeps this country so green! That's so cool that you're doing the recycling challenge - I've never heard of it. Even more cool is that you've completely blasted the target - well well done!!!
Well done Niall,it's good to declutter the trees, they make such a big impact in your beautiful garden. Taking care of them is a really important job. I recently had to get rid of my box hedging, even watching this makes me sad it's gone, but it had to, as works were done locally and it got destroyed,do had to take it all away 😢. So it's really worth putting in the time like you did. I planted a acer in memory of my 28 year old box hedging, like your wedding cake tree we get attached to our plants emotionally. Enjoy our autumnal weather,we have it full force now.
Hello! Believe it or not this is the third time for me trying to send you through this comment! On the previous two tries I wrote you a nice long reply, but something went wrong with UA-cam! I hope you're keeping well. It really is starting to feel autumnal isn't it? Thought for me that isn't entirely unwelcome because at least it lets me get back on top of the garden when the growth slows. That's such a shame that you had to lose your box hedging but I love that you replaced it with a beautiful acer ❤️
@niallgardens ah don't worry, hadn't heard from you in a while, and that's OK,life is busy for us all. Weather horrific down here, not gardening weather. I havent been on that much, winter I'm sure I will catch up. I think I'd be calling in the bigshots if I had a garden like you. Fairplay to you tackling it yourself. Lol three attempts replying ha ha. 🤣
For some reason I am always hesitant when it comes to pruning. Now that I've watched this I think it's a task I can perform with much more confidence. Thank you for taking the mystery out of the process.
Hey Niall just caught up ,great info the treas look really lovely, think they'll be glad of a trim, great work thanks for your enthusiasm in the garden, ours is looking a bit sad now the bedding plants are really going over the wind and rains have really spoilt themed 😢,sunflowers are nearly at their last flourish but I've saved loads of seeds for next year. Thanks again loving your garden vlogs, so much , and your knowledge you pass on to us. Take care till next time happy gardening xx🌻🌻
Thanks for explaining how best to cut trees as sometimes it can be confusing. We are trying to take some of the big fruit trees in the garden here that maybe have never been taken care off- and trying to may it a bit more manageable. So it’s good to learn how best.
Glad it was helpful! It's definitely worth doing research on your specific tree for the best time to prune, and then just take your time and enjoy the process. What's the phrase? I think it's 'think twice, cut once'!
Pruning is one of those things you hate to do but gratifying after its done. I'm sure that amazing tree will appreciate its neighbor getting a haircut and it will look better in itself with more exposed trunks. Looks like it's not too soon as it looks like there are water sprouts forming on the topside of the dogwood because of the bend.
Beautiful tree, perhaps you should take a few cuttings and get some babies started in case it declines..that way you have a "daughter tree" to put back..or several to place around. This is Barbie Busby, on my late husbands page. this way we get to watch together. May your day be blessed and full of laughter.
Ever since seeing this lovely tree in one of your earlier videos, I have looked them up and longed for one for my garden. But online and in my local nursery they cost £hundreds even for a one metre shrub (and so slow growing) so a bit risky as may not survive in my garden!
Hi Niall, thanks for a great video. I just bought one of these trees this year! As the tree is supposed to have a tiered effect should you encourage one main stem. Mine splits into two main stems Lower down and im wondering should i prune it out? Thanks for any advice
What a beautiful tree. Does it flower like a dogwood? I hope you remove the large birch branch growing at a severe angle toward the Wedding Cake tree. Thanks.

Great demonstration and educational. I can imagine the dusk and dawn light on the leaves of those trees is amazing to see.
Thank you Niall, for the easy to understand explanation of how to gently care for our trees that need a little intervention. Great video as always!
You're more than welcome! Really glad you enjoyed it!
You deserve a lot more subscribers I am sure your channel is going to blow up
Hope so! Thanks so much!

@niallgardens and if you have too,why not.
Thank you Niall for sharing your Knowledge ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, very clear pruning instructions, definitely learned a lot today and the Wedding Tree looks wonderful!
For some reason I am always hesitant when it comes to pruning. Now that I've watched this I think it's a task I can perform with much more confidence. Thank you for taking the mystery out of the process.
I am so jealous of that wedding cake tree, you have no idea. 🌳😲
It's super special - I really do love it

the birch trees are stealing all the water, that is why your cornus is dying back
My wedding cake tree had blossoms on this year and they died before berries formed what’s am I doing wrong
