They discuss whether England have peaked too soon, if Rassie Erasmus has any tricks up his sleeve for Eddie Jones and what a Bok victory will mean for the people back home.

Wow! As a South African, I am soooooo impressed with Alex. He is a VERY respectful and mature individual that gives OTHER people a platform to market and brag about THEIR teams, rather that trying to showcase HIS preferred team, knowledge or skills. Well done, Alex! The rugby community owes you a BIG 'thank you' for a FANTASTIC podcast. You are an amazing person that have enriched our lives with your selfless commentary and viewing of a variety of journalists views of World Cup 2019. Bravo Zulu on a job well done!
I rarely comment cos there's not much point usually. But Elma, you are a credit to your country. I'm English but met my wife in SA. I hold fond memories and whilst I will be rooting for my team on Saturday, you remind us that there are much more important things to life. Good on you for sharing such a powerful message
yes i also found her very interesting and i was so captivated by her powerful message .she was so charming and her presentation was spot on ashame that she wasn't use more during the rwc media coverage she would have added more interest to the world cup 10 out of 10 from me a kiwi
Other than some of the Rugby she is the best thing to come out of the Rugby World Cup.
Best interview I've seen at this RWC, I am South African so maybe biased. Thanks Alex for doing such a fantastic job and asking such insightful questions, Thank you Elma for being such a passionate follower of the game and brilliant ambassador for South Africa, we have a lot going on in SA and a lot to deal with, your raw emotion is indicative of that and shows how important this could be for our country. I hope with every fibre that we win this but if we don't so be it, the Bokke have been incredible and performed beyond all of our expectations. Bokbefok!
Ryan Otto Not only your view, for sure. Just a good interview with a good interviewer.
Great knowledge and insight of South African rugby. Hope they pull it off this Saturday. From a kiwi
Southern Hemisphere win.
Discovered Elma Smit during this World Cup,just such a huge fan of hers now
As an England fan, I couldn't be happier that SA are in the final and wish them well. This interview just added a whole other level to the game, thankyou Elma.
Thank you to House Of Rugby!
@@Elmakapelma and to you Elma- you are so interested in everything outside you and so aware.
That was an amazing chat, Elma seems like an absolutely lovely person
million times better than that new Zealand bitch
@Desmond Allin i mean she was being mean xD
First time i have seen this lady, what a classy, well spoken, and passionate lady she is. She almost had me crying ffs when she started to get emotional and i am a bloke, that does not happen lol. Kirstie could learn a lot from this woman. Tell you what, if England doesn`t win, i will be disappointed but chuffed for SA, best of luck to both teams.
Alex is actually quite good at his job isn’t he
Was that fact ever in question?! He's the best presenter in the game, by a loooooooooong way.
Yeah, he is.
Comes across as a really decent guy as well.
Yeah, he's a bit full of himself but he treats people decently and it definitely good at his job.
Shout out to the team filming and editing this video content. It’s impressive how high quality it is considering the speed of video output. Thank you.
Top class !
Turns out South Africa were the ones with all the power
And the heroism...
I watched this Post RWC Final. Should of been South Africa's Heroism & Power vs England
Rassie Erasmus surprised a lot of people because almost everyone was expecting a close score instead of a 20 points margin of victory by the Springboks.
Alex is very gracious. He was a thorough gent when he and Kirstie had a chat too. Didnt gloat or be insulting. I liked him as the host at the World Rugby Awards. Sublime.
Just class, epic interview.I don’t know Elma but as a South African 🇿🇦I’m proud of what you all about, your insight about this sport, history of the lads is so amazing.God bless you
I m impressed with her as a black South African
Elma you are the best ,your knowledge of rugby and the players are great , you made us South Africans proud in the way you did the interview. Politicians can learn from you how to give opinion and how to listen .
This must rank as the interview of WC19, on par with England’s victory over New Zealand.
This Telma is so real. First she depresses Alex with heartfelt comments abt South Africa and Sya’s story and then slowly reduces his hopes on an England victory by praising the force of the South African forwards.
Siya Kolisis story will definitely be made into a film!
What a great interview. Both of you were terrific.
I've really enjoyed Alex interviewing everyone at this world cup. Elme is so lovely, so down to earth. Thank you for this.
Go Boks! Nice one Elma, Alex and House of Rugby!
Elma! So proud of you. I wonder how many people know as much about the noble sport of Rugby as you do. Proudly South African!
Always a classy lady and a joy to listen to. Can we get her working in the UK. Flats & Elma double act..?
I met her in Tokyo at the England/Argentina game. She was extremely full of herself and quite vain. Shame, hey?
Apologies Gareth - can’t recall this, but clearly a misstep. My bad!
This woman has spent a decade covering rugby as a journalist / reporter.
Both for radio and TV from studio, but also in camp, at training sessions and pitchside at matches.
I also worked for my local rugby players’ association for 4 of those years.
I don’t get to have an opinion based on my gender, but rather my experience.
@@Elmakapelma so you haven't played rugby before then? So your experience is nil? Zero? Nada? Zilch?

What, like 8 months later ... I did spill a tear during this interview.... we're a passionate bunch. I knew SA had a surprise up the sleeve. If you watch the NZ vs SA game again ... and focused on the first 15-20 min, you would have seen the SA team all over the AB's. Then the game changed and suddenly we (SA) played the same predictable kicking game so distinctive throughout the tournament. In that first quarter against NZ, SA played their real game and saw that it was good (like the creation:) ). Unfortunately I cannot find a full video of this game anywhere .... but if you do come across it, watch those first 15 min again. And you'll get it. I only saw it once (live) but it was good enough for me. The highlights packages just do not do the day justice.
alex and elma are very good at their jobs . it's a pleasure to listen to and watch. they work so well with and off each other . highly impressive .they don't just give you great info but also take you on an emotional journey. they invite you in to experience their world and perspective .lot of understated ,not obvious skill going on here . you just come out feeling that was a great interview but not quite sure why
As always, great interview. Well done Alex.
This was a fantastic chat. I know of Alex from UK coverage but not seen Elma before....both a credit to their profession, thank you.
Elma is brilliant. I will miss her and have followed her on Twitter so I can get my regular fix of her quirky insights! I hope that Rugby wins today and tomorrow
Really great interview JOE!! Calm before the storm. May the best team win and hopefully that will be the SPRINGBOKS!! GO BOKKE!!
Hat off to the camera/audio crew on this gig.
Tremendous interview, great insight into what is driving this SA team and what they have achieved. It's going to be a titanic struggle on Saturday....:-) come on England !!!
what a contrast to the other chat with the kiwi , elma knows her stuff.
This was the best rugby chat I have ever watched. Thank you. Haak South Africa!
Wow I’ve watched so many of these previews and without a doubt the best one
Talk about getting you excited about the World Cup final tomorrow. Great mini-pod, and great guest in Elma.
Dstv tend to use her as a Social Media commentator decorating the studio. Loved the interview and shame on Dstv for not utilizing her properly.

This was a lovely discussion. It should be a great contest! May the best team win!
Thanks guys I have enjoyed your coverage of the world cup. NZ
You two look great together ☺️
This video, like Alex's previous one with Elma, was really enjoyable to watch and did a great job of getting the South African perspective across - as did the videos with Kirstie for the kiwi perspective. Ignore the arsehole venting his spleen in the comments here about women and rugby, Elma's perspective was hugely valuable and interesting, and Alex was as engaging as he always is. Well done for putting this together, including to the crew
Seems like a really lovely woman. Alex is a good interviewer. Should be on TV more often.
What a lovely lady and very knowledgeable ..is this typical of South african women
Yep
Afrikaans women, yes
Big time. I'm English raised but married an amazing South African lady. Best move I ever made.
SA women are lovely.
She is quite typical of a certain class of women from Afrikaner stock.
Elma is adorable
What a nice lady and wonderful story
Ja
I'm watching this interview almost four years later. The All Blacks was overhyped in this tournament and if England were really a good team they would have won the world cup. This world cup this year lots of shocks are going to happened.
As a Bok supporter I wanted England to win as I believe we have a better chance of beating them.
This has been the world cup of upsets...come on Bokkkkeee!!!
Elma's my favorite Super-Sport Rugby presenter. Looks stunning in evening wear as well...
I like the fat one.
@IAMJEFFREY-cw9ns She knows her stuff and has great personality. With Elma, you also get that, but with Super model looks as an added bonus. Call me a perve, but found myself watching rugby talk shows just to watch her..
This was a ****** good interview.
AB Basson *****, mate. FIVE stars.
Nice work Alex! Now we need an Elma post match aka Kirstie. The two of you can share a tear and a hanky!
England also have 4 amazing Locks, Launchbury would walk into most tier 1 nations first XV. the reason Itoje and Lawes start is because they add so much more than a Lock usually does in addition to being great Locks.
Itoje is what Launch could have been without injuries
The only lock that could walk into the Bok team is Brody Retallick
@@Nervybear That's why I used the word "Most" as I don't think he makes the Bok or NZ 23 but does make everyone elses.
I doubt any of the England locks would get into the Saffa squad. Maybe Itoje, and that’s a big if
@@brolint8067 He's been universally picked in every world cup XV i've seen, so frankly no one with any credibility agrees with that.
She is absolute class
Watching this a few days after the final... Elma was way out on the score, South Africa by 3. But to be fair, that projection was based on what we had seen before from the Boks. Rassie it turns out was in fact doing a very clever "rope-a-dope" and saving all the Bokke bullets for the final... tactical and strategic coaching masterclass! Coaching the squad for the 80 minutes preceding the final to win ugly against Wales, but also having a longterm goal to unleash the game he really wanted to play piece-by-piece in the final, culminating in expansive rugby in the second half. tightly wound team, that gathered momentum as it unwound the tourniquet it had applied to England, before placing the team foot on the neck of hitherto No. 1 team in the world... and killing them mercilessly in all departments.
I like Alex the English presenter. The most natural style I have seen, with incisive questions and presenting style wrapped in pub style conversation technique as well as a good listener. Elma and him worked very well together. She has a laser insight and articulates it beautifully and effortlessly. They need to make more tv together!!! Such a good chemistry and you feel like either of them could be your friends.
Well done Boks. Thank you England.
You really believe the "rope-a-dope"? I sensed it after the first few minutes. I mean what SA team plays their advantage? This SA team did. But everyone seems to be denying it. Guess it would come across as arrogant for Rassie to say in a post match interview that the match had gone precisely as planned and they had effectively outsmarted Eddie's team through a carefully woven web of deceit.
Brad Parker I believe it.
England fell into the trap they always fall into in most sports; they take a team that has had a couple of good results (notwithstanding beating a very very poor New Zealand), and then put them on a pedestal as the greatest team of all time before they’ve actually proven it.
It happened a few years back in the 6 Nations when Ireland spanked them to win it; it happened in the Ashes; it happens in the rugby perennially.
Unfortunately the England players started believing the hype - even with fresher legs than the Boks who has played one match extra.
@@tristansolero2159 And Rassie did it to the two opposing coaches I respect and fear the most. I really believed it would be Eddie and Mich who would've had some surprises for the Boks. But the Boks of the final were like a well tuned engine. Notoriously inconsistent and error prone, the team shocked England, almost effortlessly putting together a full 80 minute of unrelenting pressure. Would be amazing if they could maintain the standard, but surely they won't. We can dream.
And Elma? I'm in love. Beautiful, sweet, passionate and very knowledgeable, all in one package. I'm just glad I found her on the 'tube since DSTV has chosen to minimise her local appearances. Although it'll mean we see less of her, I hope some other major network signs her..
Brad Parker she will be snapped up pretty quickly, mate! All of what you said about her and more.
Also happy to give some man love to Alex, very likeable bloke.
Rassie is a humble guy. Looks like he nurtured Siya from U18 onwards so he’s obviously a longterm thinker and knows how to build humans around a common goal.
South Africa took a leaf out of what England did to New Zealand, ratchet up the pressure to such a level that the psychological battle was won within the first 10 minutes when England couldn’t replicate the intensity of the weak before against a very poor kiwi side.
Boks have always been the masters of momentum rugby, once they get points and tails up, they tighten the noose and rarely let up.
It was men versus boys. But England having to eat some humble pie is the best thing that could have happened to that group of young men. Japan did is a favour last World Cup; this time, it was Bokke who did England a favour for both Lions tour in 2 years and for the next one when both teams will be hard to beat.
Lovely interview Elnakapelma
I love Elma, she is such a credit to SA.
Crikey, now I'm worried, all we've got to fight this with is bloody Boris - thank goodness the England team not the pols are playing the Boks. Great and interesting work by Alex again. Hopefully, we move forward with Alex (and Fla more often). Hopefully the boys can bury faf at the weekend, it'll be one of the keys to the game.
How beautiful is Ms Smit, stunning smile to go with her rugby knowledge. 😍😍😍😍
Lawd have mercy!!! Elma. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. GO BOKKE🇿🇦
Anybody who says England are a better team than the Boks, they would be correct. However England are totally underestimating what the game means to South Africans. England are playing for a World Cup, the Boks are playing to uplift a very troubled Nation. The team are carrying that expectation and passion into the game.
Is England not troubled too?
Is that a positive or a negative for them?
England themselves are not looking past you! They will be aware of your strengths and weaknesses! We english are a passionate bunch and i suppose we want something like this to help us forget brexit.

So true. Defining moment also in our history I believe. Tension is so high, racism is boiling under the surface, the Government have sold out the nation being corrupt, massive mismanagement, implementing a communist strategy, crime out of control, xenophobia etc etc. The final brings us together for a few hours, to forget this madness, if we win, we overcome and will give us hope for the future.

England simply don't have SA's rugby pedigree, and shoul not be regarded as favourits in any WC game against the team with the best RWC record. Not an insult, just a fact.

I of course want to win but I won't be as pissed off if SA win compared to France, Wales,Ireland, Italy, Argentina you get the jist
Oliver McCall and rightfully so huh? We know our team always performs when it matters, and so they did.
Only New Zealand have a superiority over us. Against every other nation in the world we have a sense of superiority, and by that I mean we will always expect to win against them, and if we don’t we will be disappointed. That’s just the psychology of South African rugby, it’s not arrogance.
Elma Smit, Alex Payne, thanks for your coverage over the WC really enjoyed it! I've seen on a lot of other reviews of very knowledgeable rugby people saying that SA shouldn't win as they play a boring 1 dimensional game and it not being good for rugby, yes I can see why they think so. But in Rassie's defence a lot of people look into this purely on the face of it. Remember Rassie only had 18 months to bring a team from complete shambles, in the dark and try and make them competitive at the WC. The only way to achieve it in such a short period was to get the foundations right, implement a basic game plan and make sure to play that plan as perfect as possible, rather than trying to fix all dimensions and variations in such a short period and have a gameplan with many spinning wheels to it. Earlier in the week James Haskell said how Eddie Jones built the England team over 4 years, first addressing the set pieces and make that the best, then defence, etc with attack being the last component. Had Rassie had 4 years or more like most coaches surely he would have had a lot more components to his game plan with a lot more variety and certainly a lot more attractive game.
Funny thing is. Rassie's plan was meant to bring the fruits by 2023. If boks are knocking over top teams with this half finished project. Imagine how scary they would be in the coming years.
Ah lovely. Can we have Elma back with the NZ lass? Maybe Alex can provide the humble pies? :0)
I started this video a lifelong England fan but now I'm not sure who I want to win.... He'd never slept in his own bed......hold back the man tears....
@Oliver McCall Thanks for that advice. The Springboks really took it to heart!

if we don't win this. I'll happily watch RSA celebrate. Would rather them than anyone else.
I cannot agree more with u SA were crap against NZ and Wales. England deserve to win it on merit come on England
England are deserved favourites but it's unlikely that the team with statistically the best defence this year are going to get destroyed. SA have conceded less than a try a game this year, and fewest points per game. The Welsh made the lowest amount of metres per carry in the against SA, because the Bok defence was tight
