FIBERGLASS FLOORS in a ‘57 Chevy??? Will it road trip 800 miles to LS Fest?

- We turn our attention back to our '57 Chevy to get it to LS Fest, in Bowling Green, KY. You may recall, we bought this gem sight unseen off the internet and flew on one-way tickets, RoadKill style, to Witchita, KS, to bring it home. It's LS swapped and so, qualifies for entry into LS Fest. We do a little floor pan work (Bowling Green is where the fiberglass Corvette is built), put in some seats, seat belts and a few other long overdue items so it will hopefully make the 800 mile trip. What could go wrong???
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but to all who crave His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Rough around the edges is fine because you're not afraid to drive it and put a 1000 miles .way to go, gentlemen.
Come on dad, wearing flip flops while using a death wheel! 😮
I'm a RN! Really...I am. If it's bleeding... apply pressure. 😊
I like the out-a- the-box thinking. Get off the couch..."fuse together "drive. Love it!!!!
The death wheel in shorts and flip flops 😂
Standard safety equipment!
Thanks for taking us along
What a total success! You own a '57 Chevy that runs a thousand miles at a stretch and gets 22 MPG, too.
Keep enjoying these beautiful times! Mahalo for taking us along! Aloha!
Well said! Thanks Jim!
Jacob your dad is great. Glad you made it to Bowling Green . It’s a project. Thanks for sharing your video! 💯👊👍
Thank you Terry and, as always, thanks for watching.
Tim
Glad to see the 57 get some love 👍👍
Cool to see your dad making videos but I miss seeing you making videos
Good to see you made it. Even if it’s just a temporary fix, it’s good to see that car on the road.
Agreed! Thanks and thanks for watching!

Well Hello Mr's Tim and Jacob ! Nice to see you both again , it's been awhile , also happy to see you both well and looking well ! Don't be a stranger ! Your videos are always good to watch ! Take care !
Thanks Jerome. And thanks for watching!
Lots of people will dis fiberglass as the wrong way to do things, but if it works, it's not wrong. Fiberglass is extremely strong and will seal every hole in the floor. It is also a LOT easier and faster than trying to weld in proper panels. Probably a lot cheaper too. Go for it. Heck, there are entire bodies made out of fiberglass. Boats as well and we trust our lives to it. How bad can it be? Have fun. That's all that matters in the end. I plan on "fixing" the floors in my "66 that way.
Agreed on all points. As always, thanks for watching!
Wow thank you Sean
I have done this on several vehicles you can't get metal for. Cleaning the steel is important but, killing the rust is too. Use a rust convertor then brush on a layer mixed resin. Let it dry, come back the next day sand with 36 grit and brush on more resin BUT...Use a layer of mat and literally pour risen over it then get the air bubbles out and repeat the process. Depending on which mat [I prefer the variegated style not woven] I do 2-3 layers then sand smooth and apply up to 3 gallons of undercoating. Get underneath finish it too then more undercoating. The cab will be dead quiet.
Thanks for the info! And... thanks for watching!
Love the 57. Cool video.
great stuff guys thanks. i loved it all.
Thank you sir!
When I see someone in flip flops using an angle grinder and fiberglassing a floor on a classic car I know I’ve found my people.
Love it. I think this is my favorite comment so far! 😂

Tim , you guys should bring the Trash Back to sickweek and run the DYO class with us.
I'm afraid it would twist the body. But, it would be cool.
@@OldTimeRevival You don't have to full send it 🤣.
Wait maybe you do !
I hope there's more to come on both the banana Chevy and the Trashback!
Yes sir! Thanks for watching!
Love that car. Ive never been to LS or Ford fest i really need to get my stuff together
Life gets busy. Don't sweat it! I'm actually wanting to slow down a little. But... I'm old. 🙂
Jesus is Lord, and Loud pipes saves lives...
Amen! ❤
Hey doesn't the kid have some old scrap metal pieces laying around that's all it takes that and a rubber mallet and you can pretty well tune it wherever you want and then just screw it into the floor and go down the road
That could be an option. I didn't know of any scrap metal laying around. Thanks for watching!
WAR IS EVIL.
It's sometimes a necessary evil. It was necessary in WWII to stop Hitler.
But, what does that have to do with a '57 Chevy and LS Fest?
And it's funny how it took you 9 months to decide to work on it just before a festival seems like you'd have done work on a 9 months ago and slowly worked on it and had it all done by now
Agreed. A little planning would go a long way but...I'm a bit of a procrastinator. :) Thanks for watching!
Ya’ll okay…been a while?
Yes sir... just too busy. Thanks for asking and for watching!
You should never be allowed to touch a classic car ever
It's better than it was and it's not in a garage getting a perfect restoration. It's getting used and enjoyed! We'll do it right later...maybe. Thanks for watching. 😊
But also...must be doin' something right. Made it on a 800 (s)mile trip! 😊
You tell’um Frank!! These hacks ain’t got nothin like your sweet work you gots posted on your chann…oh…wait…never mind
@@OldTimeRevival ahahahahaha, what a hack
Why do you Americans never use the shields on your angle grinders? here in Europe with free healthcare we always have them on ;)
@@tokslut I’ve used angle grinders for years and I think once you reach a certain level of skill with them the guard on the angle grinder actually makes them more dangerous to use because you can’t always get them in the position you need. Not sure that applies to my dad though haha
That's actually a good idea but...I don't know where it is. When I find it, I'll put it on. 👍🏻
@@SallysSpeedShop I'm not sure there is an angle grinder injury or death epidemic in the States just yet either LOL. There may be more injuries from hammers.
