      It looks like it was more pro street than race car as evidenced by the Sanden 508 compressor and dual plane intake. A real shame though for it to end up like that.

    Hi Budget Buildz on purchasing the burnt 55, great engine to work with. My first time watching you all work on here, I'm amazed at how you got it so cheap. The engine alone is worth thousands as is. Great deals where you live. Maybe there's a cheap motor home there for about 5,000.00. My wife and I are in our early sixties and are looking to retire and travel the states to see family members, not too big. Just enough room for a bed, sink, stove, and tv. We plan on living in it the rest of our time on earth.

      They’re definitely beyond a nice restoration that’s for sure! As long as they are structurally sound and safe though..As far as chassis and inner structure go. We put the burnt comet on the road and it’s such a blast to drive! It has not carried over any burnt smell with everything stripped.

    • @rich_edwards79
      @rich_edwards79 2 місяці тому +1

      @@My2ndtimearound this is body-on-frame construction so as long as the chassis is sound it should be safe to drive. I'd be a bit more wary of resurrecting a unibody vehicle though.

      Though true that all the body panels are warped, that is because they have been normalized, since manufacturing (stamping process) had induced internal stresses. All that is gone and reworking the metal to "nearly straight" barely counts as "deformation hardening". In other words, the body should be easier to make straight, but it will also bend more easily.

    A little late to the party. Was just going to let you know since you went back with that particular MSD distributor and it had NOS and the 6AL box on it if you want to duplicate ( or close) the tune that was probably on it, you might want to lock out the distributor (no mechanical advance) and start @ 32° advance timing and bump it up till your eyes aren't burning while standing in the exhaust fumes. You'll probably wind up at around 36 to 38 degrees the 6AL will do the rest. That's with the dominator of course. But please read up on it and do your own research. I realize you're not going to the track anytime soon. Just thought I'd let you know. Great Video by the way. Can't wait to see what's next for this old shoe box ! 🤙🏻

    Weld a thick washer in the area you plan to install a plug then drill and tap it for the plug easy job

    Nice score, I though NGK stated not to put anti-seize on the threads? They have a coating on the threads from the factory. I had an issue with the previous owner using anti seize on some NGK plugs on my Toyota Tacoma 3RZ, and the anti seize turned into thread locker. I had to soak the spark plug wells with penetrating fluid, and work the plugs back and forth for several hours. It was clearly anti seize, and then read the instructions telling you not to do that very thing.
