Got a friend who's trying to stream Code Veronica with a dreamcast but he's struggling to get it to pick up on his HD60s. If he was to de-interlace the signal with 2x, would this work on the HD60s, or not?
The HD60s is very iffy with the output resolutions created by the OSSC. It can't [HD60s] handle 960p or 1440i unfortunately. Presuming he uses a RGB SCART or component cables the output of the DC will be 480i or 240p. Hi there, to start at the beginning, the Elgato HD60 does not support 480i. Theoretically this should work, but I haven't tried PS2 in 1x mode yet.
Not OP, but I've seen good results on UA-cam from people who force 1080i output using GSM then use Line2X so it feeds a 1080p signal. Plus a lot of PS2 games have issues when you force a progressive signal, so 1080i with 2X seems like a good alternative. Because that's such a large resolution, the flickering is a lot less prominent, which for capture it won't mess with the bitrate nearly as much. Perhaps you could try that. I plan to do this myself when I get an OSSC for my PS2 and stick with 960p for Dreamcast and GCN/Wii since 480p forced is a lot better on those systems. OSSC is not intended for the PS2 or Ps3 console, please read the manufacturer's website carefully. Since the OSSC scales the image by 4, the example of ps2 is 720p and 4 to 2880p ordinary TV will not be able to withstand this resolution, which causes damage and burnout of the tv matrix or damage to the matrix graphics proseror. OSSC multiplies the image lines by 4. OSSC is designed for Atari or PS1 or Nes. Informing people that the device is compatible with all consoles is misleading.👎🤪
Where do I even recommend to upscale PS3 and where do I mention PS2 by a factor 4? It upscaled to 4x if you configure the device to do so. 9 out of 10 TV's or monitors won't even except those output frequencies. Please refer to the displayed upscaling method on the captured footage. If you watch the video I actually warn the viewers for the interlaced output of the PS2 and the damage it creates for TV's. What the PS2 does not do is output 720p, tho. There is a fairly undersupported 1080i..which I believe does not work with the OSSC. Just to be sure: this device is created for upscaling RETRO consoles. Not for consoles that already have a HD output and have HDMI outputs. So no PS3 PS4 PS5, Xbox360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, WiiU, Wii, Xbox Series X. Hope it helps 😜
