i love my OSSC. It's fantastic! it needed an adapter for the sound from composite but once i figured that out and added a composite switch box its great!

(Comment Update) Just combine the OSSC with the Mclassic. And you'll get a better picture than the framemeister. (I said before to use and HDMI splitter) but it looks like it's not needed as I didn't need it. But it looks like other people where having issues plugging the Mclassic straight to the OSSC. ( If you use the Mclassic with the OSSC, you cannot use scanlines) if you want to use scanlines just plug the OSSC to the cheap HD Scart to HDMI converter box. And upscale your 480p or 720p to 1080p. This will also help you with the capture card. I personally don't like the 960p nor the 5x on the OSSC. (Problem Fixed) I only recommend the Mclassic for PS2 or Dremcast games and above. Not for retro games.

HD Retrovision cables probably more recommended for PS2, just because not everything excepts sync on green, which is what the PS2 does for 480p titles. Other than that, it should be equal quality to SCART. So it's probably your cables, yes.
And to answer your question, it does need to be a specific type of RGB cable. It must be SCART (Euro SCART) (the most common one). JP21 has the same connector, but a different pin-out. However, there are adapters in case one of you gets or has a JP21 cable instead.
The Kaico one you referred to on Amazon isn't the official one. It's probably the best clone however, but if anyone is interested in the original, it's available at videogameperfection.com.

@@jinuzuki6472 honestly they are both the same really. The OSSC can accept RGsB so you should be fine with either. The ps2 is a pain though because of the resolution switches and the 480i. The gbsc or the ReteoTINK-5X are much better at handling the ps2.

@@rightspritegamingHiya, just found this video👍🏻I acquired an OSSC a while ago, and I'm not really clued in on how to get the best out of it. You say there is a website for what settings are best for what consoles? I would be really grateful if you could share it✌🏻

Hi. I'm having a problem playing ps1 games on my ps2 using a 4k TV. It loses signal after loading.
I'm using a HD retro vision component cable. Would this ossc box cure my problem and allow me to play the ps1 games via component on my TV?

I don't get why the PS2 is such a pain. The PAL Gamecube also only outputs 480i/576i, while the NTSC Gamecube can output 480p with component cables if it has the digital out port and the game supports it. I thought this device could just deinterlace 480i/576i for breakfast.
I really don't know what to buy. I just want my PS2 games looking good compared to the shitty composite I have to currently deal with.
I've looked everywhere and I can't find an official PS2 component cable for sale anywhere or an RGB scart cable. When I do find one, it's going for a ridiculous price. Retro gaming cables have been out of stock forever too, so that's out of the question.

That pal game cube can output 480p which make it look better, it is the pal games that don't let you play them in 480p they are locked to 480i I did a video on a moded wii playing game cube games 480p
      ua-cam.com/video/A2PHcts4XIk/v-deo.html
It's the same with ps2 but the video out put is probably the worst in that generation of consoles. Only a handful of ps2 pal support 480p, if you get a ossc and a high quailty scart cable with can also get 480p with hdmi.

The ossc really, but you would need a high quailty rgb scart and fiddling with the setting making the best out it making it the better choice of the two, but with extra to buy and fiddling and a higher price, does make it less appealing

The amazon OSSC’s are actually all clones, the official original OSSC is sold by VideoGamePerfection, it’s a lil pricier but I would trust them more than the fake stuff. Clones still function ok from what I heard tho.

@@rightspritegaming i use Packapunch RGB cables from UK on Dreamcast and Saturn, which work pretty great. Thinking of upgrading to RGB on ps2 as well, the components work ok, but I wonder if RGB would improve it a bit on some of the poorer video output games.

There is no such thing as a fake or clone OSSC. OSSC stands for *Open Source* Scan Converter, the ones that Video Game perfection sell are still made in China (it's the one I have), the only reason to buy from VGP is if something goes wrong they'll work with you. However if you buy from Amazon you're briefly covered under their return policy. The ones on Amazon are no less legitimate than the one sold by VGP, you can literally source the parts and build one yourself if you choose to do so. At the end of the day you're getting the same product but from different sellers, so buy from wherever you feel most comfortable.

    • @mindscan420
      @mindscan420 4 роки тому

@@ToothpickMan11 well yeah, exactly, you’d have that support. The others are just other companies making them using the similar parts and code, possible to also have issues with firmware updates I think down the line as well

Been using RGB scart, component and VGA on plasma flat screens for over 15 years.
No crt required. No HDMI required. I do have crt's, but mainly for light gun application & arcade cabs & some really old computers.
Still do not understand why people need upscalers

Analog tech is on the way out, many panels do not support them and even if they did, they always process the hell out of it.
Ossc is just another way of future proofing and it's currently the best option available.
