It’s funny that the youtuber who counts gruesome deaths and murder wanted to reassure his audience that the actual rat doesn’t die or get stepped on. Happy birthday, James.
My grandpa helped recruit financiers for Happy Birthday To Me here in Calgary, along with Heavy Metal, Meatballs, A Special Day, Death Ship, Atlantic City USA, King Soloman's Treasure, and Tulips. He would bring prospective scripts back to my dad and his siblings when they were kids and they would pick which ones they liked best. My grandpa loves to spoil the ending to this movie (I think the table being seated with all the dead kids is the only part he remembers), and I bought him a framed original movie poster for his b-day. In a weird way, this film is a part of my family's heritage and it's very dear to me. Thank you Dead Meat for honouring it.
@@AlexAndre-cu5ti That's how my grandpa referred to it. Haven't watched it myself but according to Wikipedia it was a French co-production and went by that alternate name in France so maybe that was the project production title for it until it was released states-side.
"So we're gonna have Ginny be possessed by her dead mother's spirit to kill all her friends" "Nah, way too predictable, everyone will be thinking that"
"So we'll have one of the other rich kids be her secret half sister and wear a mask that looks like Ginny's face. She's also killing people because her dad's affair with Ginny's mother ruined their parents marriage and Ann's life."
Yet the entire plot until the very end nearly followed the original trajectory, I guess this was to catch the audience offguard which probably worked well.
Regarding the confusing scene where Ginny's dad finds one of Ginny's friends Amelia in the rain, it was probably meant to imply that she remembered Ginny's birthday and showed up with a present only to find her dead boyfriend and other friends around the table before running out of the house in shock.
You know what, that makes sense. I understand the scene doesn't really lead to anything, especially since they cut out her death, but it did add dredd to the build-up of the ending.
I like to think that Ginny having used numeral candles-a 1 and an 8-would have been a nice idea, so as to emphasize the fact that this is her 18th birthday 🎂.
When Jenny “blacks-out”, we later learn it’s from being chloroformed, but wouldn’t she remember being chloroformed🧐? When you’re knocked unconscious, you can remember, usually, everything right up until the knock on your head🤕. Great acting from Melissa Sue Anderson! Happy Birthday James A. Janisse! 🥳❤️🎉
Generally you don't remember the anesthesia taking effect, just the moments before it kicked in (based on my experience getting general anesthesia for cavities when I was a kid and too anxious for local anesthetic), so if she got surprise chloroformed each time she may have not actually remembered it. But of course, that's purely off movie chloroform rules where the moment you breathe it in you're out, not even having time to realize someone just slapped a rag over your face.
Chloroform is kind of a trope. Idk exactly how it works in real life, but I know movies make it work differently depending on what they need for the plot
I find myself appreciating even the corniest of horror movies just because of how sincere James is in his videos - it's like looking at art a whole new way. Happy Birthday man, you're always the best part of my week.
20:20 Ginny's mom wasn't also the mother of Ann. Estelle was the mistress, and Ginny was the baby born out of that affair. Ann and Ginny share the same father, not the same mother. Estelle wouldn't let Ann's father forget that and that's why Ann's mother left.
Thank you for this comment. I grew up watching this movie and your explanation is the one i always thought of. Ginny and Anne share same father. Otherwise why wouldn't Estelle also have had custody of Anne too?
Exactly. It's implied that Ann's mom wasn't aware of her husband's affair and subsequent out of wedlock baby Virginia until Ann and Ginny's twelfth birthday in 1975. That night a drunken Estelle showed up at the Thomerson house and shouted enough accusations at Ann's dad that Ann's mom figured out that Ginny was her husband's out of wedlock love child and walked out on the Thomerson family.

18:59: 8th Kill
Happy birthday to the main man who delivers the best jokes and remarks to kills that others would write off as stupid or crappy. Love ya James!
I feel like it was just his birthday like a few months ago, quarantine makes time weird
21:18 the lil amused noise from James is adorable
I can't stop listening to it. :-D
5:34 With the Camaro being my absolute favorite car, this scene is scarier than any slasher film I've ever seen
My mom had this on dvd when I was a kid and the cover art always scared the ever living crap out of me
When it’s your birthday and u would rather watch horror than have someone say happy birthday to u lol. Happy birthday james
It is my birthday today and I love horror movie its my favourite type of movie genre
Wait do you hear that
*clapping in the distance*
Restaurant Employees ready to sing Happy Birthday

@@bloodyzombie6671 happy birthday! i hope it's been wonderful :)
I remember watching this movie as a kid and being so confused! Happy birthday James!! Hope you have many more!!
Most youtubers would take a day off from uploading to celebrate their birthday but here's James uploading a day early. I really admire ur determination and keep up the good work💯💯💯
I am so happy when James does old movies that I seen as a child. So I can remember what they are called and rewatch them to see if they still hold up THANK YOU JAMES 😂💕💕💕
new favourite quote: "BUISNESS"
Rudy is a legend, holy shit.. That sloppy "He made it!", Perfect "She's Ok, she just lives over there" and that amazing Quasimodo impression... never revisited a Kill Count this many times to laugh my ass off
We now need a "BUSINESS!" cut. I don't care if it's 5 minutes long, it's just BUSINESS!!!
There is a business SuperCut
@@imagonnakikyou6820 lies!!!
@@InkWarrior No lies I remember there being a super cut I just can’t find it now
@@imagonnakikyou6820 I looked for it too. There's like a Supercut for everything else
@@InkWarrior but I do remember watching the video
Happy Birthday to James, the guy that help me watch a 1++ hour horror movie less than 25 minutes without worry of jumpscare and risk cant sleep at night
Then whats the point of a *Horror Movie*

🎉🎉🎉happy birthday to the person who got me and a bunch others into Horror movies!!!
I like how for the next kill count trailer she says “but we’re safe in here” and the announcers like *Dont be ignorant*
You know there are not many people that can make an ad sound so soothing but this mans voice is like listening to nature
No lie, my small group of female friends in the music dept at my college were called "Jeffie's Angels' because we were always on call to help and did a ton of volunteer stuffs for our professor Jeff
a horror movie about a birthday? that's the best birthday gift ever!!
I love this. I grew up spending summers in Hudson Quebec. The house they filmed this in was on my and my cousin’s biking route. When I knew it was being filmed there I was terrified riding by. Many years later I realized that the lady playing the head master was Lenore Zann. Her father was one of my professors at Nova Scotia Teachers College. Ms Zann was in many movies and comes from Truro Nova Scotia. She became a very popular member of legislature. She is a class act. I have never watched this through because it scared me! Lol. I will watch it now! Love your channel.
