    If you think that you won't have any problems off the road, you are sadly mistaken. Buy a house and you have "roofing problems, plumbing problems, electrical problems, HVAC problems, etc" It never ends LOL Good luck bro!

      Amen. My house was built in 2006 and I am the second owner. But it is nearing the point where it needs a new roof, new heat pump, new hot water heater. Etc etc etc.

    I like your idea of making lemonade from lemons. Go out and explore your temporary surroundings. Show video of the local culture. When I'm looking through my subscriptions to watch the latest update your video update is always up there at the top of my must see. I'm looking forward to your local culture videos. I just love Jax. I can see how much of a blessing you are to each other.

    Hey Eric, what you are experiencing is exactly what anyone could go through who elected to live in an RV. Don't change the channel. It is showing us what the kinds of things are that we should be prepared to "endure" if we want to live the RVing lifestyle. I typically spend about 10-15 days a month in my RV during the spring/summer/fall seasons and I also face a lot of these same types of problems. The only good thing for me is that I do have a home to go to when things get really bad. Keep up the good work and have faith in your viewers.

    This IS part of full-time RVing and I appreciate that you show us the good AND the bad of full time life in an RV. I am considering doing the same thing and I am learning so much from your channel. Because of your videos, if I decide to do it, I will be going in with eyes wide open. So, whether you decide to stop or keep on going, it's all much appreciated.

    Hi Eric: Sorry about the Transmission failure. We met on the beach Padre Island. You met Bella then. After we left we had a great trip up until Corbin Falls where Mary slipped on ice and dislocated her knee. We had an Ambulance ride through the mountains and a long wait at the hospital. Also had a nice motel for a couple of days while she recovered a bit. We are back in Canada now in the ice and snow, some Physio and stuff still required till we can get on the road again. I sure hope to be back to Padre next time. Really enjoyed our visit.

    Oh Eric, my heart goes out to you. I live here, about 125 miles south of Jacksonville and I can tell you that AAA is the same to all of us, even with the upgraded more expensive plan. I wish I had been keeping up enough with you to be able to talk with you when you were inFloria. You don't lose my interest. I understand. I used to drive a van conversion, a much simpler one, and I know what it feels like to have your home, even your temporary home, not working. I hope you do get to have some fun in North Central Florida. There are some really neat places to visit here and most of the people are great! Peace! r

    Eric I was a cross country truck driver for 15 years. I lived in my truck I was gone for a couple of months at a time. what you're experiencing now is normal a lot of times I've had to do that over the last 15 years. My favorite vids here are the ones with mods, repairs and DEALING WITH UNPLANNED OBSTACLES. I look forward to seeing how you handle your impromptu extended boondocking in the shop's parking lot. Give us a play by play. For starters, what are you supply levels (water, holding, propane, fuel, battery, food, laundry, etc?) Show us your daily game plan for making it work. This is the real shit...don't drop the ball now. Keep keeping it real Eric.

    Just save up and get a new factory transmission and be done with it and if you can afford it now then do it now. I would also change the transmission cooler and install a filter on the return line. That way you're not going to have any issues for a long time if you do the maintenance. As the RV is great shape and worth keeping.
    Good Luck

    Eric, from a former Marine, you are just experiencing a bout of low level depression due to unexpected turn of negative events. Everyone has these moments. My non-professional advise is to get your head out of your ass and not let the "voices" in your head drive you crazy. Its just the voices dude. You're doing what 99% of your channel viewers, including me, can only dream of. The fact that you are still doing it is a testament to your ability to deal with problems and overcome. You typically exude a positive attitude and that is what is needed here. You will survive this! Your channel will survive this. Don't dwell on the negative, SOLVE THE PROBLEM. In everyone else's world, your furnace just died and its 20 degrees outside. We don't walk away from our homes, we figure out a way to get the furnace repaired. Good Luck to you man!

    Good luck Eric. Breakdowns are a drag. I lost a brake line in my VW camperbus in the mountains of Colorado, back in the early seventies. I had to drive out of the mountains in first gear, using the hand brake. It took three days to get the part, and another to get it installed. A dark time in being on the road to say the least. I hope you decide to keep traveling once you get Yoda back together.

    If I were you Eric I would choose a town or city anywhere and just stay there. You can live in an RV and not travel 24/7. You can rent a spot in an RV park year round for a low monthly fee. Don't give up the RV life style but just consider staying in one area. We would all still enjoy watching your videos of tips and tricks and daily on goings. Take note from Justin Credible he lives in the city full time in an Rv and you could do it to.

    Maybe a camper van is not heavy duty enough for cross country travel. It seems like the trans is not able to tolerate the strain of the camper add on. Have you considered a smaller class c? They come as low as 27 feet and are built on a much stronger chassis and have bigger transmissions. Plus they have fiberglass roofs.

  • @APRIL2862
    @APRIL2862 8 років тому +2

    Metal shavings in the transmission, that's bad news. Under normal use this only happens when a transmission has many miles on it, OR when it has been abused, like I said before, pulling to much weight up hills. So what was AAMCO's reason for the transmission problem with so few miles on the RV? So when buying a used RV it might be a good idea to get a transmission diagnostic test.

    I totally understand. Paul and I lived in a motorhome for 3 years with our former dog Samantha. The motorhome constantly broke down, we had everything from raining in, mold issues, brakes quitting and many other bad things with the motorhome. It was harsh. We ended up buying a house when the prices were too high still because I had to get out of the motorhome.

  • @michael_house
    @michael_house 8 років тому +1

    Eric - I think that as soon as you own something, there will be some kind of breakdown. In your RV it might be the engine or transmission that fails on you. If you own a house its the roof, heating or pluming. The only way to avoid that is not to own anything - but thats no way, or is it? I have come to terms with the fact that everything breaks and just live with it. I think you are on your way to get there too. Everything is going to be fine once you realised that it isn't always sunshine. Include the cost for repair in your monthly calculation, then it's easier to deal with.

    ERIC!!! Quit saying that this video has nothing to do with rving!!! This is such a learning lesson for all of us!! Keeping making all these videos about break downs and what your doing!!!!!!! It helps us keep track of U and Jax. Also, it teaches us about these situations about what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what this is all about!!! Stay in your rv and keep the rental car and make another video in your rental car. We want to see Florida!!!! Give Jax a kiss for me. Luv, Pualani

    AAMCO should have no problem locating a remanufactured trans for a 2001 7.1L 3500. I found several for around $1800.00 ( core charge $800.00) AAMCO will charge extra which is normal.

    One thing I really enjoy about your videos is when you overcome each challenge and come back stronger. Hang in there :)
