don't delete these . there all part of the adventure for us all! not all memories are good. its nice for everyone to experience the whole deal of being a nomad. not just the good. they also need to know the bad and the ugly.
Yes! Overcome, adapt and improvise. Seeing you camped out behind Aamco is priceless and great video. So much better than the condo. Great attitude be thankful you have your health. I have a great suggestion for you: This is something I learned from my work: Get yourself a grill and grill up for the entire crew at AAmco, nothing fancy but let them know a day before that they don't need to bring lunch cause its on you! Cheeseburgers, baked beans, and coleslaw and they will go above and beyond to help you out, I promise you. I would love to see the video. Peace out.
Hi Eric, FYI I worked in a Automatic transmission shop for years. When you have all the parts the rebuild only takes about half an hour. Tips to save your trans from going out. 1. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO KEEP IT COOL! The trans cools via trans fluid being pumped up to the radiator and air cooled along with your engine. Some heavy duty trucks and hot rods use a Transmission Cooler that sits on the front of the radiator and provides much better cooling. The coolers are cheap aftermarket and easy to install. $60 and your trans will last a long time. Heat kills Automatic Transmissions more then anything else. 2. Change the fluid and flush or replace the filter 3. If your transmission wont shift up don't drive it on the highway! You will burn it up! 4. If your trans is not shifting but not slipping (like neutral) you most likely have a valve body problem or a electronic issue that controls the valve body. Some medal in the pan is normal. The clutches wear and the medal ends up in the pan. There is a magnet built into the Pan to catch this medal so it does not damage the trans. Only a experienced person would know if the medal in the pan is normal or real damage. Size and color of the medal are the way of telling. Fine Brass color with some fine silver is somewhat normal to see in a working trans with some miles on them. Larger sizes chunks of sliver or aluminum and or shavings are sings of internal damage. So if you buy a vehicle with a auto and plan to have it for sometime or use it hard check and see if it has a separated dedicated COOLER. If not install one. Change the fluid and filter. Drive it and you should be good. PS You have the 4L80E trans RWD and they are available for your rig "By Monster" rebuilt with warranty from Amazon shipped for $1701 They rebuild trans with heavy duty parts so you can use and abuse them. Better then most rebuilds!
Eric you're doing a fine job just keep filming show us the town and city what you eat to what you do we enjoy watching you you're doing great my friend
I think these kind of update videos are interesting as well. It shows the kind of stuff one may have to go through when living in an RV. It's realistic, and that's good (doesn't even have to be real for that, in case there are people claiming it is fake, about which I don't want to have any opinion, because it doesn't matter for watching the videos.)
Nothin better than being in my RV with my morning coffee, hazelnut creamer and an Eric video! SWEEEET! Keep em coming ... Nomadic Fanatic and caffeine, I'm addicted to both!
Thanx for sharing daily. I am truly curious about the transmission & your struggle thru the situation. My heart goes out to you. I think you've made enough lemonade to float a battleship. B. T. W. I enjoy all your vids.
Looks like your making the best of your situation. I would love to be in Florida right now... Might be some nice fishing spots close. :) It's all good.
Thanks for the update and I look forward to the report on the WiFi extender... would be very handy even here at home where I have dead spots. Why not contact the manufacture of the RV and ask them for help with the transmission issues and fault codes. They may have a simple fix like a computer update that will prevent this disaster from happening again. Good luck as always.
In my humble opinion don't delete these videos, it gives a good insight into all aspects of the RV life. I enjoy watching them equally as much as the others. :)
The same thing happened to me and my wife we were stuck for two week's in parking lot of Cummins truck shop. And they replaced our transmission twice! as the first one they put in was bad. When it is all over you will enjoy being back on the road like us, keep your sprite high as this is all part of the journey. Good luck
Sorry for your troubles Eric. We have a 98 Winnebago Minnie class c we're taking from Georgia to Alaska in May. We left Alaska with it 2-1/2 years ago. I had a transmission flush done in Anchorage then I wasn't too happy about. When I pointed out it was 2 qts. low they poured a universal tranny oil in with the ford tranny oil they had already put in. Since then I've driven it about 10,000 miles, not full time. I'm a pretty heavy user of the overdrive switch going up and down hills and mountains. You have actually helped me Eric. Because I know of a good mechanic here and I will have the transmission pan dropped and the fluid and filter replaced with Ford OEM materials before returning to Alaska just to be on the safe side. Looking forward to your reviews and videos of your travels.
Eric, years ago I stayed at a friends farm/stables in a 5th wheel to assist around the stables and horses. There was no way to drain the tanks of the 5th wheel on the property. So I just used bottles to pee in and then dumped them in a toilet when one was available. Otherwise I would just use a Wally World bag placed in the toilet of the 5th wheel to do my business. From there throw in some dirt, peat moss, saw dust or the like and tie the bags and store them in a sealed 5 gallon bucket until a dumpster off property is found. This way you are only putting sink and bath water into your gray tanks and can dump them to the ground the next time it rains. The bucket won't smell, as the peat moss and such takes care of that. I believe its day 3 its almost compost.
Thanks Eric for the info about the portable waste tank i def need one of those really bad, if you were in the ghetto of north minneapolis i would be honored to put you up here, still praying for you and Mr.Jax.
I am glad they are trying to find what caused the problem so you don't have this transmission go out too. Jax seems to be happy back home. At least you have a rental car for shopping and site seeing. This should help the mood of fixing the mechanical problem.
as others have mentioned, ive learned so much that I hadn't thought about before. thank you for sharing the ups and downs.keep doing what makes you happy.
I have relatively few people that I follow, maybe a couple dozen. One of the things I like most about your channel is the fact that I get up in the morning, fix that first cup of coffee and sit down and watch what's going on in your life on a fairly regular basis. I like the consistancy of the uploads that you do .... very few do this. I hate subscribing to a channel and then suddenly they stop uploading videos for months at a time. I find it all relevant as we are travelers also. So please just keep doing what you're doing. Don't worry about whether or not the content is worthy. Just go out and make the best of the situation and let us enjoy it along with you :-)
Thanks for the update Eric. Sounds like things are at least bearable. You've got access to your home... Aamco seems to be working with you on the problem. Things could always be worse. Hang in there.
Eric attitude is everything and you are on the right path clean your place up and you will feel better. This will pass to.So stay Happy and keep giving us hope to keep on trying. thank you.
Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone. Smile Eric, this is just a speed bump in your wonderful adventure. This is so easy to say when I see where you will be a year from now. LOL
Please don't delete any of your videos, everything you put out is valid. See, all this information you are sharing is going to help anyone else in the same position. This is why you are my favourite RV channel.
Hello Eric and Jax !! First off, as a guy, sitting at a pc in Aberdeen, Scotland. I do not drive, even getting about by public transport now is a rare thing for me. So for me, watching videos like yours, motovloggers, campervloggers and other weird stuff as well is how I get to see the big outdoors. Deleting video's like this would be a solid shame, Yes, ok, you do not like sitting still, we get that, but what you get out of it is a chance to really explore where you are. To be able to spend time with your Jax, maybe even finish off a few of those small projects that the RV will probably need. Its all part of the journey. Stay Strong Eric!!! You will soon be back on the road again, ready to explore another area in greater detail. Keep on building those memories, even the bad / murky ones have their uses !
Eric, I'm enjoying watching all your videos. In particular I appreciate the episodes in which you deal with mechanical problems. I want to buy an RV some day, and the knowledge I've gained by viewing your videos might be useful if I ever face similar difficulties. I'm very curious what diagnosis they'll come up with on why the transmission failed. Please keep us up to date on what happens with the transmission. If you're ever in Houston, TX you're welcome to park in my driveway.
You're handling everything very well, I hope they can find out why the transmission went out so quick, maybe they have a way to determine if the RV had many more miles on it than what the odometer read.. How about using public restrooms close by as much as possible including the Aamco restroom and only use the RV restrooms when there is no other choice so the waste holding tanks will last as long as possible without having to empty them.
Hi Nomatic Fanatic. I have 3 sources for a re- manufacturered transmissions for your motorhome let me know. I can have it shipped to your location. Don't go for a re-built transmission at all. The reason your transmission went out is because it was over heated to many times!! Did the shop there show you what the transmission fluid looked like? No matter what you choose make sure you install a Large new transmission cooler with a electric fan. but anyways let me know about the Re-man transmission. Good luck. Hawk
Eric, i think you have a better attitude than what i would have.. Hang in there you seem to be going good.. and hopefully this won't take as long as you may think.. take care and stay safe..
Hey Eric, when you get your RV back up and running, you should look into a Bluetooth OBDII adapter and an app called Torque for Android devices. It has saved my ass a few times when it comes to vehicle problems.
Eric, if you are getting codes related to EGR valve and cat converter, those items fall under emissions equipment and are warrantied by the dealer for 100,000 miles, no matter how many owners. Go to the Chevy dealer for those repairs to be made at no cost to you.
Don't delete these videos.... good to see your past and what you have been through. We all know life throws curve balls... this is just one of them. I just found your channel the other day. Glad this video is still around.
Feeling your pain, Eric & Jax. You will get thru this too. Take a breath and keep moving forward, just like you are doing. Most of us are in this for the long haul. Hugs to you and Jax.
Been broke down on the road myself you just get things fixed and head on! You should be able to run your generator to run anything you need. I would ask the shop to borrow their shop truck to haul a waste buddy if you have to do that, surely someone there would help. Maybe borrow one? At least your in your RV...
As someone once said, 80% of the RV works 100% of the time. That 20% just rotates around to the different parts. Go with the flow and you will be back on the road soon enough. Hopefully before it gets hot and humid there, I hated that hot weather during my 1 year at MacDill AFB.
@ Bama Woodsman, I am in agreement with you, and I am against all the bashing. You actually don't have to research anything, If you watch Nomadic Fanatic Videos suggested videos will pop up telling everything. So while I may see where they are coming from, It seems to me that there are some who have made it there life's mission to destroy him. My Comment remains, God bless Him and you, Don't let the haters bother you. Seriously life is to short to mess with haters.
@@patdale1316 It isn't just him; there are just people like that. I've had some on my case for a long time. And I'm 66! I made it to old age in spite of it.
once on the road again, I would also look after the wheel bearings as well. I don't know what they put in stock rvs like yours but I hope the fluid cooling system is adequate. things happen, all you can do is what your doing. :)
you're reminding us to make the best of a not-so-great situation. see, it helps us to reach down and pull up strength for what we're going through... (my car is still not running, but the tax refund is coming and my youngest daughter loaned me her car so I can go out dancing tonight! I have a co-worker that lets me catch rides to work and I help her out on gas. I get to the store for food n supplies.... so, even tho' I can't just take off n sight-see on days off, I'm doing alright... this is life n like you said, it's our attitude that makes the difference. ;-) thanks for showing us FL; I'm not big on travel so I really enjoy the sights on your vids. Love to Jax n keep up the good work!!
That portable tank that you can empty the black and grey water into, and then dispose of it all at a dump station is a great idea. My hubby and I have one for our motor home, and while it's heavy when filled, it's better than having your tanks fill up and becoming useless until the RV can move again. If the portable tank is just too hard to move and lift when full, you could simply fill it half way and make two trips to the dump station. A pain in the neck, I know. But you'll still get the job done...and in a little car like the one you rented here, gas usage wouldn't be all that much more. Just make sure the cap is on correctly...and tight. And place some plastic cut-up trash bags over the area where the portable tank will be during the drive...and maybe even an old blanket "just in case". Better safe than sorry. :)
Eric, i had a spark for a week when my smart was in the shop 3 years ago, those are nice little cars, except mine was PINK! i figgered it was Feb, and it was dark half the time i was driving it, so no biggie (they only had 3 cars available at the time i rented, the spark, a 4 door yaris or a dodge 200 convertible) hope you get fixed this week so you won't have any "black water problems"!
eric, we had a similar service issue and had to deal with our tanks filling. I contacted a local porta potty company and they had a truck in the area pump us out for $30. I know those portable tanks are normally $100 + and u still have to find somewhere to dump it....just an idea. hang in there bud!!
You mentioned cat converter and EGR valve. I have a story about that. My truck failed emissions (high NOx). Was told by an "emissions repair shop" that I needed a cat converter and EGR valve (about $900 repair). Didn't accept their diagnosis. 2nd opinion at a reputable shop found a disconnected vacuum line. So, before doing a cat converter replacement, check for simple causes. I've never had to have a cat converter replaced in any cars, trucks I've owned since they were installed. All my vehicles over the years had over 200k miles without ever having to replace one. So, whenever I'm told I need an expensive repair, I take it with a grain of salt and get a 2nd opinion. I also invested in an OBDII tester. That's saved me some money, too. Knowing what caused the CEL to illuminate allows me to fix the simple things myself.
Aamco rebuilt the transmission in my 67 Chevelle SS it had a one year warranty and two weeks after the warranty was up the transmission went out. They had that timed perfect I'll never go to them again.
I think it's a better idea to get the Portable tank sooner then later and do the dumping at half full instead of waiting till it is a must have if you don't use it or end up not needing it you can sell it just strap it to the bumper when your on the road.
Bro! Some of us really LIKE the "everyday life" vids, maybe even better than the touristy stuff. "The Adventure" vids so to speak. It helps others aspiring for the same lifestyle a chance to see the ups and downs and the ends and outs. Don't delete anything. Your channel is about the "RV life style". This is just a part of it. Even short vids hold some knowledge. Not all the vids need to be a grand production. Keep on truckin! (or RVin in this case).
Get that GEEE~ TAR out & play Eric... (miss that buddy!!) It always gives me peace and tranquility while things aren't as good as they should be!! :) What is that old saying.... don't let bad things rent free space in your head?? ;) Another I like is... Don't sweat the small stuff... its all small stuff!! Gr8 update!! Rock on there Jax and Eric!!
Way to go Eric. Stay mentally strong, don't let little crap take you down. Make the most of your time in St. Augustine. There is so much to see and do there. Hey that old light house is haunted for real.
When life throws us curve balls, let's face it and be honest, we're human and it's going to bum us out...and that's okay occasionally and temporarily because those emotions need to be acknowledged and given recognition however you are 100% correct; we can't stay in that frame of mind...there is very, very little we have total control over in this life existence, most of life is driven by outside influences...we do however have a choice regarding our attitudes and reactions to circumstances...acknowledging the crap and then moving into gratitude is what makes life beautiful. .learning to see the beauty of life is our journey. You get to stay in your own home, the weather is fantastic, you're in a great location for sightseeing, you have the physical ability to get around and enjoy your environment, you're healthy, the list goes on and on...plus one huge thing to be grateful for...Jax!! Looking forward to your next update..
They should install a larger Transmission fluid cooler. It's in their best interest in terms of warranty and your best interest in terms of component longevity.
I feel the dealer where you bought the RV , 30 days or not is alleged sleezy if they are not paying a portion if not all. It did cross my mind that one of the many trolls that promote hate on youtube vandalised your new rig but I guess it's more the alleged sleezy dealer was alleged able to hide some code issue. Just doesn't seem right. where is the sellers ethics! Your handling it great. keep on track. it will get fixed and you can put this behind you. keep the heat on the dealer too. I don't care who they are, it's the auto industry and the waters are shark infested! Good Karma for them letting you park and stay in your rig. That's kind , just don't accommodate comfort for delays. Hi to Jax.
Hi Eric. Sorry about the transmission but I agree with going with a heavy duty transmission cooler. Heat is a factor in transmission failures. Not the cat converter or the EGR valve sensors. Ck out the big flea mkt while you are in the area. Also I agree when you close the blinds you are home. What is outside doesn't matter. Unless you can hear waves rolling on a beach! Lol!
Man, I would like to trade with Eric's predicament every day. In static living life, we have to go to work every day. Paying for mortgage or rent, get car payments and repairs, and sometime the transmission went out that made me stuck on the road for hours and then deal with machinist and rental car at the same time. I can't even whine about it. This channel stops me thinking of being living off the RV, since one transmission problem became too big to handle!
I don't mean to put religion in anyone's face but I wondered if you ever heard of the Serenity Prayer. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference ". That's part of it. Pretty good words to keep in mind. Works for me. Thanks for the great videos. You are appreciated.
don't delete these . there all part of the adventure for us all! not all memories are good. its nice for everyone to experience the whole deal of being a nomad. not just the good. they also need to know the bad and the ugly.

Dude, don't delete the vids; these are the best ones. Real life man.
Stay strong Eric! Thanks for the update :)
Hi Eric,
FYI
I worked in a Automatic transmission shop for years.
2. Change the fluid and flush or replace the filter
PS You have the 4L80E trans RWD and they are available for your rig "By Monster"
rebuilt with warranty from Amazon shipped for $1701
They rebuild trans with heavy duty parts so you can use and abuse them. Better then most rebuilds!
Glad to see they are treating you okay, and letting you stay in the RV, and thanks for the update. Hang in there Eric, we are with you.
Eric you're doing a fine job just keep filming show us the town and city what you eat to what you do we enjoy watching you you're doing great my friend
Best wishes.
I think these kind of update videos are interesting as well. It shows the kind of stuff one may have to go through when living in an RV. Very kind of that shop to allow you to plug in like that. They're good people.

Eric, to empty your tanks check out the FloJet RV Waste Pump Kit. You can run a garden hose to the toilet at the transmission ship.
+Wills on Wheels
Transmission shop not ship.
as others have mentioned, ive learned so much that I hadn't thought about before. thank you for sharing the ups and downs.keep doing what makes you happy.
You should maybe consider a transmission HD cooler it will help, heat is not your transmission friend!
good luck man, and hang in there. Thanks for the update, I really enjoy watching your videos.

while you have it on a lift, a good time to fix that hole in the floor. its a Job you could do yourself to fill a bit of time
Best of luck to you Eric and your buddy Jax!

Eric, if you are getting codes related to EGR valve and cat converter, those items fall under emissions equipment and are warrantied by the dealer for 100,000 miles, no matter how many owners. Go to the Chevy dealer for those repairs to be made at no cost to you.
keep up the great work. life comes at you fast. keep smiling.
wow another transmission. this is an amazing vlog.
Don't delete these videos.... good to see your past and what you have been through. We all know life throws curve balls... this is just one of them. I just found your channel the other day. Glad this video is still around.
love the show and JAX!
Thanks for the update Eric!
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to more!
Daytona is next week, and there is local racing EVERY NIGHT this week in New Smyrna, there is the Don Garlits museum to see also.
Eric you make great videos even in bad situations. Thanks let me know when you get to Chicago area.
Hi Eric, You have a lot of haters, I pray God's Blessings upon you. Don't let the haters bother you. God bless You !
Great Video! Stay Positive and everything will work out the way you want it to.
you're reminding us to make the best of a not-so-great situation. see, it helps us to reach down and pull up strength for what we're going through...
I'm go glad that you didn't delete these videos. I'm thinking about switching to a class B life and this is an important thing to know about
I have a blue portable tank and I love it. Can't go wrong with it.
Eric, i had a spark for a week when my smart was in the shop 3 years ago, those are nice little cars, except mine was PINK! i figgered it was Feb, and it was dark half the time i was driving it, so no biggie (they only had 3 cars available at the time i rented, the spark, a 4 door yaris or a dodge 200 convertible)
hope you get fixed this week so you won't have any "black water problems"!
eric,
we had a similar service issue and had to deal with our tanks filling. I contacted a local porta potty company and they had a truck in the area pump us out for $30. I know those portable tanks are normally $100 + and u still have to find somewhere to dump it....just an idea. hang in there bud!!
Eric, I really care about you and I am praying for you and your situation.
That's a strong case for having a pickup and trailer or fifth wheel, rather than a combined ...motorhome.
They had that timed perfect I'll never go to them again.
can get those obd2 scanners for like $100 via bt and your phone...
If you get in a pinch with the gray water you can always transfer it to the black via a bucket through the toilet. It's a pain but it works.
I think it's a better idea to get the Portable tank sooner then later and do the dumping at half full instead of waiting till it is a must have if you don't use it or end up not needing it you can sell it just strap it to the bumper when your on the road.
Thanks for the update. Go explore and enjoy Florida. Life could be worse, you could have been up north. Head up and enjoy St. Augustine. :) Thumbs
It am what it am!! Thank the good lord you don't have a family wondering when ...... Stay positive and keep smiling!
Stay positive Eric. Any way you can make a blooper video series?
Eric check out Good, sam they have portable rv wast pump that is a macerator . Empties through a garden hose run it a sewer clean out port
I hope the problem isn't gonna cost you too much. That really sux! Best Wishes
You should be exploring the Olustee festival in Lake City this weekend
They should have a better warranty than 30 days or 1000 miles but with AAmco it should of lasted but over 3 years ago did it hold up?
Hi to Jax.
good on you mr Eric be happy just love jaxs too
This might be good therapy to keep making videos. Keep a focus on your fans that care about you!
Lol!
Hey Eric hang in there. There will always be dark days when you are down. However without those bad days there wouldn't be any good days.
Keep your head up bro, dark times always suck, but you will get threw it.
I don't mean to put religion in anyone's face but I wondered if you ever heard of the Serenity Prayer. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference
". That's part of it. Pretty good words to keep in mind. Works for me. Thanks for the great videos. You are appreciated.
Keep the faith Eric!!
