A lot of Sam's issues are gonna improve by just being in a balanced offense. And the fact that he's just 23 means he has plenty of time in front of him to improve on some the negative things he did last season...which I believe can be coached out of him with some time. Mostly just holding on to the ball for too long. Also not asking him to throw 40-50 times a game will limit the amount of times he's in situations to make bad throws.
Sam howell has so many weapons and a great backfield something he didnt have in washington and i honestly think the commanders are going to regret this trade. This dude balled out in the beginning of the year but when you get sacked every play your confidence of course will go down. Honestly i think the teams in our division are hating that we got this guy because he can be deadly.
What!? Washington didn't have weapons?? No backfield??... They're stacked on WRs and a well equipped backfield...
Washington had a bad oO line and the OC was not very good.
Washington absolutely has weapons on offense. Just no line.
Looking forward to seeing how Howell handles himself in the Pre-Season. Living in the greater DC area, I saw him a lot. His O-Line was routinely a triage, the running back situation was, at times, a joke. The receiving corps was inconsistent, with more potential than they ever showed on the field. A chance to work with Geno, to have a receiving corps that is just ready to explode, and having the running game behind him would be a major boon for Howell. Coming from the UNC style, he's more accustomed to a run to pass style, where his mobility can surprise and get critical first downs, or at least save a play. Fields, coming from the Memphis style we' saw nearly implode on itself at Va Tech, before the change of coaches there, needs some seasoning. Russ will be great, if he can adjust to the Steve DeBerg role as the vet QB that helps the young pups grow into their paws, and Justin needs that, to get his confidence back. I love Matt Eberflus, all the way back to his guiding Mizzou's defense in their back to back SEC East Division titles, but he needs to find an OC that runs an offense that the defense can be complimentary to, not the other way around.
So, now that I rambled on, I cheered when I saw the 12s would get to see Sam Howell. I think it is a great trade and pick up. He'll learn a lot, and give a lot. I'd like to hear Geno's thoughts. He and Drew the last 2 years were so supportive, and competitive, to each other. I'm hoping Sam can adapt to that, as well. Plus, who knows, if Seattle goes with a QB draft pick, maybe we hide Howell on the Practice Squad, keep him around for the future and let him, as I have heard in some old wrestling stories "Sit at the foot of the learnin' tree."
Sam had 10 games totalling 8 interceptions. That pace puts him at 13 interceptions during a season. Not great, but it's not terrible. The bad games came when his receivers were shutdown. Given that he was always playing from behind with the worst defense in the NFL and terrible play calling by his OC his interceptions should be higher. His last 3 games equated to the majority of picks. Team members quit trying, faking injuries, missing easy throws and falling down leading to interceptions. It was a mess. I'm glad Sam is at a good organization and a team with weapons.
Our Oline was not much better than Commanders last year (Pass pro rank: SEA 28, WAS 32). Washington had lowest rush attempts in the league. Seattle was 2nd lowest. And both team's Ds sucked. Geno was just more adept at working under pressure. Howell played under similar pressure and questionable playcalling as Geno and his inexperience showed, but his talent flashed. I like the moves JS made to clear bloated contracts and aging/underperforming vets. But as of now, our OLine has got a LONG way to go. Seahawks need to draft a stud LG and hope Olu and Bradford are up to the task, and that Abe's knee is healthy. That's a lot of hope to rely on for a better season from whatever QB takes snaps.
Howell has an extra year on his deal and with todays insane backup QB price he’s a perfect backup. Fields has one year left so after this year the team will have to pay him and he would want to be a starter.
Howell betta
Hell nah
The dude had negative 2 fantasy points week 16.
Go Hawks 🏈 💙 💚
Sam Howells biggest issue is turnovers if they can fix that he is at least a top 20QB
Top 10
@@DanielCalzacorta-ip2xe Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, Tua, Jared Goff, Jordan Love and Brock Purdy were all top 10 in turnovers.
That is a crazy stat I had no idea about
Misread your post. I apologize
Can manipulate the pocket better more of a natural thrower of the football ( Howell can throw the football) fields is way over hyped for a qb that will probably be a backup for a while
Glad they got Howell in a trade during the FA period. My main concern is trenches. I've been frustrated about trenches for years.
I'll understand if they need to take a WR or whatever in the draft but we need a grunt truck of an O-line and a D-line that makes men piss themselves.
It was a trade not FA….
@@brianmyers4444 Thanks!
Why would we take a wr
I have a good feeling about Sam and I’m excited
Great analysis! Thank you for this explanation. I am not a Fields fan, but I wasn't a Howell fan either. This makes a lot of sense.
My own personal eye test tells me that Howell will have a pro career that lasts twice as long if not more.
My own personal eye test tells me that I still don't need glasses.
Twice as long as what? Finish your sentence.

I leave it to the readers to figure the rest of it out. According to the likes, six people already have.
@@proudliberal605 Simply say , SH's career , in my opinion , will last twice as long as JUSTIN FIELDS career. There, I did it for you. Complete sentences.
@@Stinkinbadgez You did it for yourself. Good job.
Howell is good value with potential for... who knows, but for a million dollars it's not costing much to find out. Drew Lock signed for $5 million I think. We're saving $4 mil in cap room, but did have to slide back in the draft some. It's not a huge price. We were already screwed on day 2 after trading for Big Cat. But at least they re-signed him. Maybe they can trade down for a 2nd. And just take the best OL and DL on the board at 1 and 2.
I’m a Commanders fan but you guys got a good one with Sam. I feel confident he’s gonna be good for you guys and I am pulling for him to ball out for you guys.
i would think it is obvious that one just had its rookie year and other almost at the end of its contract. the worst case scenario for howell is he becomes a nice backup/placeholder for when we get an actual rookie that we want.
Because Sam Howell is a better QUATERback.
I am no fan, but Howell is a better passer. It was obvious Washington did nothing to work with him to limit sacks or INTs. These things are usually common in a players first year as starter, it never got better, he had a terrible O'line to boot. He just needs someone to care about his development. I believe he was top 5 in yds and TDs last season (at one point), before a wheel fell off.
The Jameis Winston like stat line at least makes for entertaining games
If you compare Sam Howell Vs Josh Allen on their first 17 games, Sam Howell numbers are very comparable. Beats out Josh Allen on numbers, I think Sam Howell is good and was on a bad team. Also when Sam Howell played in Seattle his numbers were also similar to Geno that game
Im a big Hawks fan. I have faith in Howell, i hope he gets to show his true potential
Thanks for the vid 😂👍🏼
Yeah, Howell's a low-risk, low-cost gamble. The upside is huge if it pays off, but if not, easy to get out of. Great summary and totally agree.
Because Howell is doing things passing that Fields is not.
All excellent points. And, call me crazy, but I truly believe that in terms of UPSIDE, Howell has a higher upside than any QB who changed teams this year. AND the only QBs in the draft with a higher upside than Howell are Caleb, Jaden and Drake. To my eyes, that’s OBVIOUS.
Great explanation.
Fields has the Tebow kiss of death. he will win but not from the pocket. You have to run a college option offense that fools people in the regular season but can’t win in the playoffs and will not lead to long term success. I find it a shame because Tebow and fields are good television but when a team doesn’t win enough it’s not just the QBs job that’s on the line.
If Howell gets some better protection and a decent OC he will be scary. Washington had both a terrible O line and a really bad offensive coordinator who put the team on a rookie QBs back….Howell lead or close to the top in passing attempts… did I mention the O line?
Of all the 2022 quarterbacks I think Sam Howell is probably the best. I think Seattle was a good team for him to go to but I was really hoping that Pittsburgh my favorite team when I was growing up would take him.
I kinda thought fields was like a young Russ but I was high on Howell in the draft
Solid video.
Fields as a qb relies on his legs. Howell on his arm. If the O line can protect and open holes, the arm and the backfield can shine. I'll take the arm over the legs. Especially when Howell is no statue back there and ran for a first down on a 4th and 23 with Washington last year
Sam Howell will be a good place holder if we still are looking for a qb in the future.and we can build around our qb's
Washington ran a play design that was 4 curls all at the same depth. Yeah people want to write Howel off and they dont even consider play calling and situation he was in.
Sam Howell can ball 🏈 with good team around him
Seahawks did the right thing Sam Howell is actually a good quarterback you will see. He is cheaper to take a chance on he can also make throws other quarterbacks cannot. Sam,s biggest problem was the coaching staff of Washington many did not like Benemy at all. I don't think he's the best leader but he is definitely a good quarterback
you guys see how he dapped up the black ref and just shook the white refs hand🤣
Justin wanted to go to Pitt. They got him to where he wanted to go. It wouldn’t have mattered. So
A lot of Seahawks fans (your brother). 😅
Because Justin Fields is a one season rental with a looming contract negotiation. They would have been forced to make a big money decision on him without getting more than a season to see what he's about in Seattle's scheme.
Because Field can't throw from the pocket. Fields can't throw up to this point in his career. Fields has shown you nothing in 3 years to make you think he'll be anything, but a one read and run QB. Howell has at least shown you something. 21 INTS! His INT rate was the same at Allen. I guess he's as good at turning it over as Josh Allen and he's supposed to be good. Howell throws the ball lightyear better the Fields. I might be wrong but throwing the football is kind of important for a QB. Unless of course you are a Fields lover then throwing the football doesn't matter.
Because Fields will have 2 or 3 highlight level plays and then be doodoo the rest of the game.
To hear the words "only" and "million dollars" in the same sentence is confusing to me.
The question needs to be asked, Is JS scared shitless when coming to drafting a QB?
The Justin fields contract isn't a problem... if the steelers want to keep him, he will restructure it...would of been the same if seattle had traded for him...
His INT rate is the same a Josh Allen.
BRO i promise you give that man a o line and its over
Fields just isn’t good at playing the qb position. It’s as simple as that
prob bc fields was already taken by the steelers
Sam howell is not bad I'm excited for him to start
Can you name the two qbs that have been sacked the most since 2021 GO HAWKS!!!
Howell is not one of them
Fields and Wilson? 😂
@@jamesstradley3232 Howell played 18 games is if half way to Wilson and fields 😂
Fields gets spendy next year, olus he is toast. Sam is by far the better gamble.
they can develop him and potentially draft competition for him because he isnt that good tbh.
Macdonald turned down the Washington Job because they are using the #2 pick on a QB vs drafting the best player in the draft Marvin Harrison jr. who is a future HOF. The Commanders OL was terrible. The Commanders OC was not a good play caller. The Commanders WR’s dropped a lot of passes.
So Macdonald went to Seattle & took Sam Howell with him!
Commanders blew it as big as Denver did! Stay tuned!
Agreed. I think the guy has huge potential. It’s a smarter gamble than Bo mix. I just seen someone say draft nix instead of Howell, lol.
Better than geno
To be brutally honest, is there anything here in this video? you haven't answered the question asked in your title. You've read some stats, but not looked to see if play-calling or on-field talent were factors, or drops. The funny part is two of the three teams involved are ones where no one seems to know wtf happened. If Howell sucked, why did no one try to replace him or change the plays? Why did the Seahawks under-perform when they had a top-10 QB & amazing receiving corps?
With Fields & the Bears at least we have some clue what the problems were, although I have yet to see anyone question the obviously false narratives about it. Saying "I' know Howell is great or better" doesn't _make_ him so & if he is, then point out what went wrong that he couldn't prove it! You made a video: put something _into_ it! What in this would make anyone want to watch your other videos?
Look at Sam’s game logs. The kid was throwing 40-50 times a game. wtf?? Criminal how Bienemy let him hang to dry with all the punishment he took trying to make something happen and goofy ass offensive play calling.
I watched a lot of Justin field games this year too. He’s just not that good as a QB. I understand why John decided on Howell instead Fields.
Y’all talking crazy fields better in every way throw better ball run better just gotta undue the Chicago
ur actually crazy bro
Your actually crazy if you think coming out of college Sam Howell was better than fields what our we coming to
@@Supermanng13 howell was projected too go top 5 the year he didnt commit too the draft bro do your research

It would help if you watched Sam Howell games. Sam is phenomenal and the team was terrible. He outplayed Peyton Manning's first season.
You are out of your mind and you should turn in your fan card while being barred from serious football talk

@@DanielCalzacorta-ip2xe if you genuinely need me to explain the difference between Sam Howells 2023 season and Peyton Mannings 1998 season, then I don't really have time to discuss the nuances of real football with you. They aren't even remotely on the same planet in terms of comparing. And hence why I typed my original comment to the OP.
Sam Howell is a quarterback. Fields is a RB.
Seriously? Because Howell is an actual QB. Fields is a RB that plays QB and can’t stay healthy. Plus Fields is going to be looking for a new deal or you need to pick up his 5th year option. Didn’t want nothing to with Fields, dude is hot garbage.
Sam howell aint it ..Genos short term ..now theyre looking at Plumlee ..??.give me a break .they got rid of Lock & now theyre not drafting anyone ??..so whats the draft class in '26 ?..its not gonna be like this year ..id draft Bo Nix & his center Johnson for the future .
There’s a reason why you’re talking about making moves from your basement. Drew lock is a dump truck , Plumlee is for the practice squad, and explain why Sam Howell isn’t it
Drew Lock had a higher interception to attempt ratio than Sam did, and Sam's OC made him throw the ball every play. You weirdos who always wanted the turnover machine to start for the Seahawks boggles the mind.
Hopefully Sam will be around for several years.
It’s because Sam is a better quarterback
Hes white
I hate QB/RBs with no arm! Eat at Geno's! Go Hawks! Sam will be a legit backup 👍
Bro I hate you geno is raw
8th best rated qb last year look it up yall just gonna keep hating himc
And I’m starting think Seahawks fans just want a white qb
@@kngyama979 you realize Geno is black right? EAT AT GENO'S! 👍
Fields is not good
Fields is garbage
Seahawks need a bonafide franchise QB. Geno is a stop gap. Bottom line Fields is way more talented physically. It’s a chance worth taking. Sam is a turnover machine. His stats are inflated
You trippin... Fields can't throw and he's a QB...
