Same here still got my 04! Had its flaws in the beginning usual axle seal etc.... but has served me well. Don't plan on getting rid of her anytime soon either just gave the front a face lift and it has 196000 miles on it.
Thank you for putting the Titan on your channel. I have had great experiences with them and currently own one. My preferred truck of choice. My 2019 I currently own is pretty loaded with heated leather seats, navigation, tow package, and all the modern tech conveniences anyone should need. Drives amazing. Toyota are great, but Titan is my personal preference.

I went to Georgia and bought a camper top for it.. put a mattress, tv and game console in the bed.. ran an inverter for everything.. Drove it from south central Ky to Tampa Florida and averaged 21 mpg highway.. I couldn’t believe it!! I’d own another one in a second!!
The Nissan Titan's had issues with the rear differentals. I bought a new Titan Pro4X in 2018, it came with a 5 year/100k bumper to bumper warranty, 10k towing capacity, built-in trailer brake, and 4 wheel drive. I've had no regrets. Buy the Titan 😊
@@Joe-x9v thats incorrect. So laughable how many have fallen for this. If your vent isnt clogged, and likely it isnt, this mod is a waste of money and time
@@nickoffroad it doesnt prevent axle seal leaks. The seals dont leak because of the vent being clogged. They leak because it was a shitty low quality design that failed. As a tech I have not had the best experiences with Titans. I think the moral of the story is- you should not abuse it. The most egregious one I worked on was lifted, was used for mudding and probably hit the rev limiter more times than we could ever imagine. He blew the radiator after a hard pull (they have pretty intense cooling system pressures that can back up and blow out a side tank), then blew the head gasket as a residual of that. Miserable… I had to work from a step ladder to take it apart. I put it all back together for him, he blew it again 2 years later and asked if he could bring it back in. I refused it. They will run rings around a comparable year F-150 in the power department, so there’s that
My uncle bought a Toyota Landcruiser new in 1987 and still drives it offroad. The original gas engine runs great, manual gearbox Greetings from Germany, Martin
The Titan's a very good truck. Here in the Philippines, the diesel version, the Navara, is pretty popular, competing well against the Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado, quite a feat considering the presence of the omnipresent Toyota Hilux on our pickup market.
Best vehicle I ever owned was a 2006 Pathfinder. I pulled some with it and it was bullet proof. Sold it with 200k on it with everything still working perfectly. The v6 engine would burn the tires on take off easily. With an updated radio and backup camera it was perfect.
I've had good luck with my 4.2 , although it's an automatic and it is rated to tow 5k pounds, I tow a small travel trailer that weighs 3k pounds and no issues, it has enough power for my needs, if I need a more heavy duty truck I'll get a V8, but for now it does the job
Re: what are Tundras known for? Rust. At least the first gen. So bad that the frames were rusting through in rust belt states so quick that they recalled and replaced the frames, which lasted just long enough for the corrosion warranty to be up. An oil treatment will keep the frames from rusting, but must be reapplied every couple of years.
Have a 2021 tundra. It’s a beast. Terrible MPG. Don’t care. No cylinder deactivation or BS crap you don’t need. Leather, V8, 4WD. Tons of rear leg room. Good power. Great truck.
Ive known several guys who have had titans and they have all had rear end issues. The axle seals are terrible and constantly leak out the diff oil and if you ignore it, boom. It is a big deal on these, as since they all blow up eventually, there arent many good used ones out there and ones that are, are expensive.
Love the tundra but not the price. Love my 06 titan it’s been a solid truck since I bought it. They are totally underrated. Although titans are known to have the rear diff leak and if not maintained properly will break.
The Nissan Titan 2004-2023 XD 5.6 V8 also Nissan Titan XD 5.0L Cummins engine 2016-2020 it's a shame because in 2024 is the last year of Nissan Titan trucks. Randy 2015-2021 Nissan Titan XD dash broad swapped in old Nissan Titan XD 1st generation 2004-2008 and 2nd generation 2009-2016, 3rd generation 2017-2021, 4th generation 2022-2024.
The Nissan Titan had a flaw where the rear differential would blow up due to pressure building up in it. The remedy was to install a vent on the axle. Check out Nissan Titan Axle Vent Mod... That Nissan Titan had it's rear blow up. Only fix would be installing a new one in.
The Nissan Titan is one of the most underrated trucks on the market. They last forever! Nissan is discontinuing them after next year due to poor sales. The Tundra is also an excellent truck! I have never heard a bad thing about them.
I would definitely get the Nissan Titan my dad had one and it didn’t give us one problem almost 400 hp pull anything we wanted you can definitely upgrade it too. But like any other car, you have to take care of it I don’t think that person did.
Nissan trucks are good trucks. We have not had any issues with ours that makes us doubt them entirely. Just a couple of sensors, the belt, and tie rod ends needed to be replaced. We love the frontier. It has everything we need in a truck.

The Titan SL and Titan Platinum edition are the trims that have upgraded technology. The Titans are one of the most reliable pickup trucks on the market right now.
If you can find (I think) 2017 and newer Tundras, they have the rear window be fully functional up and down. That means you can have all windows down and no annoying ear popping air pressure noises at higher speeds. Like a convertible car, but hard top, full rigidity.
Randy you can have the displacement on demand removed on GM vehicles. That might be a route to go? I have 230,000 miles on my 2002 Yukon 5.3. runs like new. I knew a guy that had almost 700,000 on his. All original drive train.
The only full-size trucks I’ve had opportunities to drive have been the Chevy which my dad has, which is a 2015 with 134,000 miles on it and no problems out of it and seem generation diesel. I would also say that I’ve driven the Ford and it’s pretty good with the 5 L and 10 speed automatic. I haven’t had the opportunity to drive any of the Japanese trucks or a Dodge.
These older, first-generation Nissan Titan's, especially the later model years are the best pick-up trucks, other than the Toyota Tundra. They are affordable than most newer used vehicles todays, which are most likely the compact ones. Thanks.
The Titan had a problem with the rear end and there was a champaign (Nissan speak for recall) to have them replaced. Sounds like that one didn't have it done. I know because I worked at a Nissan dealership and my company car was a Titan.
Buy that red f150 It's a Perfect candidate for a 5.0/6mt swap Especially with no rust that truck would be a perfect street truck and especially when scsb trucks with a factory Manuel bring nothing but cash especially from that gen
I heard the Frontier is a great truck too so i just assumed they would pass that on to the Titan but they are just overlooked due to Ford, Chevy and Toyota
Randy, I cannot comment on the gasoline fueled Nissan Titans, but the Nissan Titan XD Diesel is an orphaned nightmare. My best friend purchased one new on August 18, 2017, and with less than 35,000 miles it has been in the dealership shop four times for total brake failures, one of which required replacement of the master cylinder which if not for warranty would have cost several thousand dollars according to the service writer. It has also been in the dealer's shop for turbo charger replacements three times. It has had constant drivability issues from day one that multiple re-flashes to the various on-board computers rarely resolve for more than a few weeks. Today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a Nissan dealer with a certified diesel technician who can provide care necessary under the extended Nissan warranty that my friend purchased (I take the truck to most of its garage appointments). There are three Nissan dealerships within 100 miles of where we live, and only one had a diesel technician on staff three months ago when the Titan needed its last new turbo charger. All I can say, is this has been far from being a reliable vehicle.
Randy I watch your videos all the time, I have for years. My wife listens to them in the background and heard you talking about the f150 and the Kia, looked at the screen and was like “IS HE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING PUTTING A WINDSHIELD IN THAT?!” I about died. 😅😂😂
i have a 2008 titan with 157k on it and the only thing other than normal wear and tear items was the weld broke on the driver side lower control arm at the ball joint, other than that i have had no issues with it and it still pulls strong. nissan may have crappy cars with the cvt transmissions in them but they do know how to build trucks, the titan and the frontier are both good trucks. if you want the new tech you need to get the 2016 and up
Randy I been waiting for you to finally recognize how well the Titan really is and to show us all and make a video on em. I have an 05 titan I bought it for 500 bucks with a bad engine and 272k miles. Now it has a new engine new 2022 version 5.6L endurance v8 the rear end also went out due to a faulty bearing on differential so I upgraded it to a super Dana 44 3.36 posi Trac and new headers and that's not a ticking it's normal for the exhaust to make that slight tapping my brand new engine does it haha but it's all do to an old exhaust and old seals and gaskets.
first gen titans had a problem with the radiator cracking internally and then the coolant would mix with the trans fluid, also the rear diff seals like to blow all the time because the rear diff doesnt have a breather other then that the gas powered titans are pretty good! the same can't be said for the turbo diesel Titans, their DPF get recirculated back into the intake to be re-burnt only it ends up getting completely overwhelmed and the engine just completely clogged!

I had a nissan 2.5 turbo diesel towed a caravan 21 foot around Australia and it never gave me any trouble it was 2010 model the caravan was a jayco 2004
The Achilles heel of these tirans isn't the engine. It's the radiator but that only exists on pre 2010 models. If you find a post 2010 one they're actually pretty good and those are the ones that probably carry the bullet proof reliability that you see
i bought a 2012 chevy silverado in oct 2015 w/4.8 litre, work truck 4x4 w/40000 miles, now just had inspection done for 8th time w/95500 and have not had ANY mechanical issues, BEST TRUCK EVER, JUST keeps going I LOVE THIS TRUCK, tempted to trade in but new silverados are not the same quality
Titan with some true dual flow masters music to your ears I can truely say titan is a good unit my cousin has one an he’s been giving it hell for years every time the key hits the switch and shifts smooth with a load
i would never say antything bad about a truck especially a titan since i owned more then 8 of them. 8 because i fix and resale. but that truck you looked at i would not get. it has no battery voltage, no oil pressure gauge, no trans temp gauge. and it sounded like it might have a bad trans valve body. but i could be wrong that is how my 2011 looked like. i rather get one with all the stuff that lets you know what you got.
I wish i had like 3-4k to start a small project car. I had a mini 1275, 1.3 liters... when i was in grade 11, im 30 now, so that is 12 years ago. my dad bought it for super cheap, but it was clean, just had one of the porcelain joints broken in the front. I redid the interior and added a cd player with 4 speakers atleast. I then swapped it for a 1992 400cc Suzuki bandit because i wanted a bike because of high school. i Should have kept it. It was a baby blue color clean title, i have neither of them to show today.
Nissan and Toyota’s are built to last. You want a good reliable daily, Look at the Jeep Patriot. Simple interior. Clean dash. Good gas mileage. Not to small and not to big. I loved mine. To bad I had to sell it due to divorce. Inside was so simple. None of all the buttons and gauges, etc. just be sure it’s a 2016 or newer. Mine had the CVT transmission. It was fine for daily driving and long trips. Check it out if you see any. Simple 4 banger.
I sold hundreds of the titans years ago when i worked at a used car outlet over here they're called a navara the 400k units ended up in Africa and the weak spot is the pinion in the diff if you tow heavy stuff daily it's a quick fix though
The Nissan 5.6 is good on paper but I had nothing but issues with mine. The timing chain went at 80k and then the entire engine blew at 150k because of the HPFP failure. It was maintained very well and never driven that hard but it still gave out.
Nissan all day. My 2010 with just bolt ons pulling 0-60 in 4.7 seconds with 220000 miles. The motors motors are insane. The torque curve on a Dyno looks like a Plato from low to high it pulls.
Toyota everyday all day long! 😊 But just make sure it’s a Limited model. (Ex. Toyota Tundra Limited) Because 2010 and above have a touch screen. But not all of them. You just got to look for the right one. 👍
You need to find an 07 or an 08 tighten the deluxe model the dashes are just extremely elegant almost feels like you just climbed into the cockpit of the most expensive Learjet you could ever buy not to mention the bodies are better-looking than most the new trucks if not all of them
I personally prefer a Chevy 5.3/6.0/6.2 MOTOR over the rest as long as it's got a DOD delete if it was one of the engines with it, the transmissions are junk unless it's a 4L80E. However, when it comes to older vehicles like pre 2010 or so, I think the Nissan Titan is the best 1/2 ton truck for towing if it's got the 3.357 rear end and not the 2.937. Their towing capacity is around 9300lbs with the big tow pkg.
@@EverythingKentucky I love LS and LT engines also. Love how GM is still using OHV V8 engines and are still competitive with everyone. Lol. Folks love to cry ancient technology. Nothing wrong with what works well. Lo

Similar to ford that has several trim levels, the titan does as well. You will find the best tech on the SL or platinum models. The S and SL are very basic.
Nissan Titans may go forever, but they suffer from the same poor quality all Nissans of the era contend with. Bad paint, plastics that even GM wouldn’t use past 1998, and they fall apart around themselves. Unrelated as to an insurance claim on mechanical damage we had a Dakota in a shop years back for an oil change and they blew up the engine. Their insurance company totaled it rather than replace the engine. I’m guessing perhaps a similar situation.
The King Ranch was looking good until you got around the other side. Titans are great trucks. Nissan was doing great until they started putting CVT’s in their cars.
I've got a 2008 nissan titan crew bout to turn 300,000 on the original motor. Only part changed was the starter and plugs. Rebuilt tyranny and rear end.
I watch your videos every day. I am into VW's But looking for a Toyota 4 Runner. I bet ya you will never find one of those. The new ones run about 80k on the low end if you can find one. Might be a challenge for you as no one gets rid of them unless totalled.... 8-) If you find one would love to see the video on it.

21:59 good one man, you really had me going there for a second, and I started thinking is he freaking for real he lost his mind lol. Good one man you got me there!
I had a nissan 2.5 turbo diesel towed a caravan 21 foot around Australia and it never gave me any trouble it was 2010 model the caravan was a jayco 2004
2024 is the last year of the Titan. They are pretty reliable. I’d pick a titan over a ram any day. This one on your video is too old tho.
The Titan is so nice, but it’s so old. I’d go for a tundra truly. But exploring options are really good too! Keep it up randy!
Like Randy said in this video. Sometimes older is better!
@@derbydog02 Agreed
Watch Jr go had one. He liked it. I love the Toyota Tundra myself. Toyota Tundra is bullet proof when maintain properly.
If I were in the market for a new truck and the F150 wasn't an option for some reason, the Titan would be my 2nd pick. They're very underrated.
By first would be the Landcruiser then the F150. In my town the RAM & Landcruiser is the most popular though then the F250.
@@2DogsVlogs I'm not a fan of Toyotas. Not because they don't make good vehicles, but because their fanboys are insufferable.
I'm like da hell?!? Randy just went off the rails... once you mention a crowbar, this man trolling 😂
You had me cracking up about the damage on that king ranch lol
I’ve been dying to see a review of the new fleet!!
I like all brand of truck sir.. They all have each other's attractiveness..😊
You need to find an 07 or an 08 tighten the deluxe model the dashes are just extremely elegant almost feels like you just climbed into the cockpit of the most expensive Learjet you could ever buy not to mention the bodies are better-looking than most the new trucks if not all of them
Dunno if you noticed, but the Denali looked like the alternator was barely trying to spin. Maybe that's why the idle got bad? Low charge?
No way FORD! The tundra keeps breaking down in my shop.
yes, love Ford trucks
I thought Randy was having a heat stroke when he talked about fixing that King Ranch! It was funny tho!
Nico brother will take care of the truck like nothing
I have a Titan XD diesel, love it
I personally prefer a Chevy 5.3/6.0/6.2 MOTOR over the rest as long as it's got a DOD delete if it was one of the engines with it, the transmissions are junk unless it's a 4L80E. However, when it comes to older vehicles like pre 2010 or so, I think the Nissan Titan is the best 1/2 ton truck for towing if it's got the 3.357 rear end and not the 2.937. Their towing capacity is around 9300lbs with the big tow pkg.
Toyota Tundra is better. 4.7 V8 is a better engine. Well built trucks. A few have gone over 1 million miles with the original drivetrain
@@captaininsano2777 I'm just partial to Chevy (8 cylinders motors) because I've personally had issues with everything else.
@@EverythingKentucky I love LS and LT engines also. Love how GM is still using OHV V8 engines and are still competitive with everyone. Lol. Folks love to cry ancient technology. Nothing wrong with what works well. Lo
Titan is a amazing truck but there rear end suck. My dad worked for a Nissan shop and any time a titan came in for anything besides, like an oil change it was always rear ends that was it.
You can always buy a Titan and see which one the Titan or F-150 does better with the work you have.👍
The Nissan Titan is a great truck. I miss my Titan!. Very reliable.
I've known a couple of people with rear end problems with the earlier Titans. At least they didn't have a CVT!
Good morning sir. Good to see you.😊👍
The Yukon Denali has the 6.2 while the regular Yukon is a 5.3
That GMC Denali looks nice ☺️
My cusion Nissan titan is a 2006 with 229k miles and works like a beast
I have a 05 Titan and it has gone all Over the map and has 495000 miles and still running perfectly best truck I have ever owned
@isaacsmith5509 what issues have you had?
Hey randy I know you probably won't see this but what did that Denali go for I want to get something like that or a older Tahoe like a 02 body style
A bench seat and column shift in a Nissan. That’s like seeing a bench seat in a Nice rogue! Would be nice.
25:00 That joke reminds me of the Pole Barn Garage's Roadrunner restoration.
Nissan I had better luck with them and good video bud keep up the good work
03 silverado 180000, 04 silverado 221000, 08 silverado 266000, 16 silverado 70000, no problems with any of them. Change your oil and do maintenance.
Hey Randy every window is very important
Now Tundras and Sequoias on the other hand…. Bulletproof.
Was that Titan in 4x4?? That Thumping sure sounded like it come from the front of the truck or under the cab.... J/S
I've got a 2008 nissan titan crew bout to turn 300,000 on the original motor. Only part changed was the starter and plugs. Rebuilt tyranny and rear end.
395,000 on my 08 my transmission lasted till 375,000 i will never trade it in a i want to see how long it goes
I've always heard that the first gen TITANS are good 😊
Only thing on the titans and the armada is the exhaust head gaskets go bad. And they are a psin to get to.
At around 10:42 you could see the fuel dripping down
good solid and reliable is always first for me
