Great Video Gash! Great to see an experienced brewer like yourself throw down an extract beer from time to time! Good beer is good beer no matter how it is made. Cheers 17
+Matowix Ive got two on the go at the moment, currently dry hopping with Citra hops. Ive used Simcoe & Mosaic in the past all with great results. If you like a golden style ale.
+Paul Whitley +Matowix I usually use the Coopers Pale to play with, only reason is that it is a touch less bitter than the Mexican, that way I have more room to boil extra hops for flavour, that of course add a bit extra bitterness too. The Coopers Pale is just a dollar or too cheaper when I'm scraping for money :) Cheers Paul!
I've gotta say the fermenting vessels i see you use are far better than the ones we get in uk. Ours are pretty flimsy really and can be a bit of a pain to move.
Yeah it amazes me the ones I see overseas, especially in USA just terrible, we've had these fermenters since I started brewing in 1988, I think the USA peeps were scared of "plastic" but not sure why the rest of the world didn't catch on! Cheers!
Awesome video as always. When you dry hopped you just chucked it in rather than using a filter cloth etc. How do you keep the hops out of the finished product?
+Stephen Sizer I've always just thrown them in, if you are worried about hop particles in your beer the easiest way is to cold crash the fermenter, so I usually dry hop and leave it 2-3 days, then drop the the temperature to 2c for 2-3 days then bottle or keg. I think there's less risk of oxygenation throwing pellets in rather then a bag as well and also the hop is more easily in contact with the wort/beer. I have used bags before, but it's just easier to throw them in! Cheers mate!
Awesome Mate........looks like Holy is waiting for her glass of beer....my 2 year old goes and gets her own cup when dads beer bottle comes out.....have you found a big difference between the Original Series coopers ale kits etc and the International Series kits? cheers Brett
Nice vid like always. You mention you'd probably mix it up if you did it again with US05, cascade and mosaic, but how much of those hops would you use? You said this wasn't what you'd call a hop slam so I'm guessing you up the dose?
+Geir Røsset I think it would need maybe a hop steep, as well as a dry hop, I'd reckon 25g of each in a 10min steep in some recently boiled water, and then dry of 25g each might do the trick.
Hi Gash. I made a normal Coopers IPA and its lacking that hoppy flavour. I'm going to try your recipe but am having trouble getting Cooper Light Dry Malt. Have you tried any other malts such as Mangrove Jacks brew enhancer No 20. Would this do in stead? thanks for your help Charlie
Gday mate, yep something like that would do! If you ask at your brew shop I'm sure they'll have some straight Light Dry Malt of some sort, but #20 will do the job! If you are still wanting more hop flavour let me know, depends on what sort of IPA you are after, even this one is mild compared to the big US IPAs available these days. Cheers!
good stuff Gash. its a great tin and I use it a lot. doing a sideboil with 20-0 min additions works great on it too. you said "7 weeks later" how did you store that beer in that time? cold? carbed? cute kid mate. I swear she gave me the finger. cheers mate.
+Victor Bitter I store it cold and carbed, I was drinking it from the day I kegged it, just never had the chance to video it! Then the dip tube got clogged, so it sat for a few weeks in another fridge till I got around to trying to clear it, Murphys Law as soon as I had the time to do it, the blockage, whatever it was had cleared itself lol Cheers Vic!
Gash Slugg after you have purged the oxy from keg and sat a few lb on it to keep lid sealed, how long would you say is max to keep a beer in the keg, warm and uncarbed for?
G'day mate, I just use roasted malts for those sort of flavours, I dont like many beers with coffee unless its very subtle . Though my recommendation would be to add whatever sort of coffee you are using to the beer after its fermented or mostly fermented, do a small test in a glass and try and gauge how much you'll need before adding it all to the fermenter. Cheers!
+TheAussieGunBunny yes it was, they do a kit every month or so, I think this one has sold out, but besides the hops its all just the normal coopers ingredients. Home brew shop or ebay should be able to sort out some hops for you. Cheers mate!
+Gash Slugg g'day mate. I'm like you, the more hops, the better. I'll be giving this one a crack with mosaic and galaxy hops. What's your thoughts on this...... Steeping 25g of each then dry hopping 25g of each? Too much??? Cheers
Just when I think all your vids have made their way into my feed, I'm pleasantly surprised. Cheers Gash.
Great Video Gash! Great to see an experienced brewer like yourself throw down an extract beer from time to time! Good beer is good beer no matter how it is made. Cheers 17

Another great video Gavin . Is it ok to dry hop like this if I’m bottling?
Thanks mate ,
Great video from start to finished beer. Very nice colour on the beer. Suspect it needed quite a lot more hops to give it that punch. Cheers Gash

Just starting out looking for kit and extract brews, have you tried a kit and extract brew with coffee? As in a dark ale, porter or stout?
G'day mate, I just use roasted malts for those sort of flavours, I dont like many beers with coffee unless its very subtle . Agree with Dino ...MORE HOPS FTW...
+Stevejamesbarr Brewing How times have changed hahaha Good shit Steve! Cheers mate!
How would you make this hoppier than it is?
You could do a steep of hops and double or triple the dry hops.
Cheers Mate.
nice one love your vids
+beerlover1983brew Cheers mate! Thanks!
That will be a slamming IPA if it had a few more hops in it cheers Gash
+Strat Beer Cheers Strat!

+Nick Strong Worth a try mate! Cheers :)
Has to be all grain !!
Just because its all grain doesnt mean its good! just because it's extract doesn't mean its bad.
Extract is great man. Bit more expensive but the beers can be just as good!
Rinse the can dude. Lol
